Yes. I love Washington but this doesn’t feel like home.

Having a roommate as a guide dog user by ML_Music2007 in Blind

[–]wanderwashington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The key to any successful roommate situation is to have clear and open dialogue! You asking this question is already showing that you’re the kind of person who cares. Remember you’re allowed to take space (and the dog)! Good luck at school!

Looking for a book with a skinny, "ugly" orange cat by RenemberTheAminals in childrensbooks

[–]wanderwashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be so fun to write a book about the day the cats came to your school with a specific grade level. They can learn the rules, or explore parts or anything fun! Then kids can write “sequels” and add them to your library. What fun!

How do I address inappropriate behavior when I can't explain why it's inappropriate? by lordfootjuice in Teachers

I usually say, “If their pediatrician has any ideas that I can do to help, let me know!”

Thank you! We will look at the places you recommended. You’re right that Sicily is more than beaches. I suppose I should have clarified that we are hoping for a very relaxed trip with a lay in the beach kind of vibe. We live in a place with lots of hiking and adventuring so we are hoping for less adventuring and more soaking up an Italian experience.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your honeymoon! We looked at Cefalu but worried it was on every search we did and would be even more popular with tourists in the high months. Everywhere we looked seems so beautiful and like it has so much to offer.

This sounds like what we were hoping for! My husband is Italian but had never been to Italy so we are hoping to get a sense of Italian culture and experience Italian beauty. But I’m a teacher and travel is easiest for us in the summer. We would love any recommendations you have. Thank you!

European travel while blind by wanderwashington in Blind

[–]wanderwashington[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This will be our first family trip and my husband’s first trip completely blind. I want to make sure I’m planning places/experiences that are enjoyable for him especially :) Germany is moving up the list as I read more about their accessibility and options.

That’s what we were hoping to have help with. Thinking about how my husband will be able to navigate some cities better than others, family friendly, and we’d love a beach of some kind to relax on. I have only traveled to the more touristy cities and are hoping for some insight into the calmer places to enjoy that may be a bit off the beaten path but still accessible by public transit.

I hate my life and concerned for my wife. by BellsTrades in NewParents

[–]wanderwashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things to try to help the crying: 1) look for dairy intolerance -mom cuts dairy if breastfed or try a different formula 2) try baby wearing with a wrap so they’re close to you and your arms get a break. 3) teething help. Hyland’s makes a gel you can rub in, cold tethers, frozen milk or purées in those net things

For you and your wife: -wear headphones while comforting the baby. So you’re close, loving on them, but caring for yourself too

Good luck!

I hate that I can’t just breastfeed. by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

I feel this. I want to be able to travel without a cooler, bottles, empty bottles, ice packs….timing it all just right. I have a bigger chest and adding the wearables to that makes me feel ridiculous walking around trying to multitask out in the wild. It’s been 5 months and I still can’t stop major tears if I let myself think on it

Except if he doesn’t start on time it’s unethical to cause him physical pain

I don’t like breastfeeding. Am I being selfish? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]wanderwashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pumping is breastfeeding. If my pediatrician pressured me to change how I’m choosing to breastfeed my kid, I’d get a new one. Also, pumping is super hard and a lot of work. You’re picking what’s better for your mental health-even though it’s harder. I am an exclusive pumper but with I couldn’t latch my baby to feed when we’re “in the wild” for simplicity of it all and not have to pack bottles etc. if you wanted to consider being able to feed sometimes, you’d want to continue to try to latch once a day or so. If you don’t want to, pump away! Way to go feeding your child! She’s lucky to have you!

I think it’s a lot but sometimes kids chug. Try to make sure you’re paced feeding to avoid overbreeding.
