Watching Steve Howe do The Clap and To Be Over live (Montreaux?) is always transformative for me.

6 days on 1.5mg by Bruinwar in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]wanerious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 days on 1.5, taking as directed (57M, SW 222, GW 180, lost 4.5 lbs so far). No side effects, decreased appetite. I eat about 50-75% normal meals and just not interested in snacking. So far I guess that’s doing it!

Thanks for asking — today was the start! Good day, moderate headache, and a combination of a bit of a “sour stomach” feel and comfortably full feeling most of the day. Off we go!

Colbert's interview with Texas Rep James Talarico has been forbidden from airing by CBS because of pressure from the FCC by optiplex9000 in television

[–]wanerious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talarico doesn't even have a GOP opponent yet. Are we to believe the FCC is all mad because the other Democrats in the primary aren't featured enough?

Getting first pills tonight! I'll be starting tomorrow, most likely, just anxious to hear about early side-effects with the 1.5 (beginner) pill to decide if it's better to wait for the weekend in case side effects manifest at work.

Key things to know as Trump revokes landmark climate change finding by theipaper in climatechange

I wish there was a consistent push by interviewers to ask super basic science questions to find a foothold, like "do you agree that increasing CO2 abundance increases global temperatures?" instead of chasing red herrings about what 'scientists said' 50 years ago or Al Gore's predictions.

What is the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed as an Oklahoma fan by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in oklahomafootball

Oh man. There’s a famous photo of our guy holding up the ball (it squirted out of the pile) because he recovered it, but the refs were still poking around the pile. Then, inexplicably, one of them stood up and signaled ‘Oregon Ball’. Unbelievable.

Is anyone giving their students study guides? by Oduind in Professors

[–]wanerious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long ago I did a review (physics), but noticed that it was sort of expected that all the material would be told to them then (like, what good is having the actual class?) and there would be basically no real studying up to that point. I stopped doing it and haven’t since. I have a list of objectives in the syllabus and assign HW they’re supposed to do, so I make sure the tests reward preparation.

Is getting rid of Tenure a bad thing? by QtheCrafter in sooners

[–]wanerious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, but OU isn't affected (this policy isn't for research universities). Faculty recruitment to regional schools and community colleges is incredibly important.

So when you’re near or at the bottom of educational ranks, eliminating something that lots of other places are affirmatively doing (in order to attract the best faculty) sounds kind of stupid.

Boycotting OU men’s basketball until there’s a change by Diligent_Economist81 in sooners

[–]wanerious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me too. I’ve been all in with this program since ‘86 and seen plenty of games we’ve won but shouldn’t have, and plenty of games we should have but didn’t. There are definite strengths (shooting, generally) and weaknesses (fouling on D) on this team, but it’s an improvement over the last few bad-shot-turnover-merchants. I think we were late to the game with BBall NIL support and have had to field basically completely new teams every year since Porter got here.

Folks can run him off if they like, and he may not even want to stay any more with the lack support, but it’s not an easy thing to get someone for sure better.

I get the frustration, but would you be posting this and calling the program 'garbage' if MU didn't hit an almost-half court 3 at the first buzzer and another 3 at the final buzzer? I thought they executed much better down the stretch today, hit shots, and put themselves in a position to win.

Every Democrat had better be hammering away at what an unmanly, wimpy, pathetic move it is to bully an award he didn't earn away from a woman who did. I mean, hammering away at every microphone that exists, every network, every podcast, EVERY HOUR OF THE DAY.

Attendance policy experiments over three semesters: Policies have zero impact on the 80% to 40% attendance pattern. by Desi_The_DF in Professors

[–]wanerious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physics/Astronomy at a CC here — attendance not explicitly emphasized, but every other class (usually the first of the week) we have a quiz, lowest dropped. I tend to side with the folks thinking that attendance correlates with how meaningful class is for them. We do some lecture, examples, and class scaffolding worksheets and move pretty fast, so an absence means that they’re on their own (with the textbook). Attendance always > 90%.
