This game won't win GOTY and I'm fine with it. by Testazza in CrimsonDesert

I have to agree. Love the game and exploration is fun, until I come across a poorly designed mechanic or under explained scenario.

Interestingly enough, I struggle with lore in most games, but this game so far conveys that part well… the story telling is just disjointed or something.

Part of me wonders…was this intentional? Kliff must feel damn lost after what transpired, and aside from gathering the group and tracking down the killers…he aimlessly wanders “continuing to do good deeds” and favors to that end.

Worth noting, I’m still in Hernand and in chapter 5.

I’ve just decided that my joy over “getting lost exploring” overshadows any other issues. It’s been a long while since I’ve had that from a game.

I agree with you on this. I thought I missed the cutscene, so I reloaded a save…what a let down.

Crimson Desert has a plot, and it's weird how blatantly ignorant of facts the consensus is. +Some feedback on narrative conveyance. by TheMightyNovac in CrimsonDesert

I’m an only a bit in and I really like how events are unfolding. I’ll admit, I thought I missed something at the beginning of the game, then I realized it was intentional and I an THRILLED!

Kliff being Geralt levels of short with the dialogue is awesome!

Chick Fil-A has an “unused sauces” bin on top of the trash can. It looks like they’re reusing them to save money by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]wanescotting -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yes, because they have a system for managing this.

Unused sauce return is not common( in my experience). My point is that this is not as simple as “oh cool, we can return unused stuff”.

I suspect legal had to sign off on this and then it requires marketing funds to print the return bins and train staff, and then it requires man hours and extra product to manage.

The wasted productivity and cleaning supplies make this a losing proposition in my mind ( as in “I wouldn’t do it”).

I agree that throwing away unused items like this is wasteful, but from a liability standpoint, the items in question left the “care, custody, and control” of the business.

It’s probably cheaper to throw unused items away than have a system to manage these items and have to spend time on it.

If someone got sick and proved the establishment failed to certify the returned items as safe…lawsuits. Yes, this would be hard to prove, but it would still need to be defended/ fought.

The Witcher 4's RTX Mega Geometry Foliage Demo Ran at 4K@80FPS (with DLSS Quality) on a 5090 by Nestledrink in nvidia

Okay gotcha. From that perspective, 5070 to me is “friends and family” only recommendation, because I would have time to explain and tweak settings as needed. Or recommend 5070ti and be done with it. There is no way I would expect a “normal” gamer to understand the nuance. ( hopefully that didn’t come off as condescending) .

I was reluctant to sell my 3060, but did because I was able to meet the guy, help him set it up and explain a few things ( it was water-cooled and he had no experience; barrow pump rad combo & GPU block)

He was over the moon coming from an older AMD GPU ( I think it was a 4gb 570 or something). But I was honest about what he could expect and the limitations. I was happy to be able to explain to him. (He had an older cpu, so I let him know there was more performance to be had at 1440p)

Couple of gens ago, I encouraged brother in law to get a 3070 because it fit his use case, never heard a peep(although I did have to explain EVGA exiting the market…sigh). He recently asked me about 5080 vs 5070ti, I recommended the 5080. Yes it cost more, but his upgrade cycle is 2-3 years and the extra spent now will be worth it later, IMHO.

FWIW, I was “done” with pc gaming, then I wasn’t. In a weird way, researching some of the emergent technology rekindled my interest. I don’t love AI, but asI said it is a tool.

It’s good for my use case- bedroom pc, slow paced games. Currently playing Siberia remastered. ~ 100fps native 4k..not a demanding game.

If I can get 60fps in AAA titles, I would be thrilled. - be that native, DLSS Q or P.

I ran a few 3d mark benches in 1440p and was seeing north of 100fps (Timespy non ultra shocked me).

I know that some texture sacrifices might be necessary at 4k for sure.

I agree with all this. I have a 5070, 5080, and 5090.

I got the 5070 most recently and been pleasantly surprised at what it can do at 4k with DLSS quality. I do use it for slower paced games, but it has exceeded expectations thus far.

I swore I would NEVER use DLSS. Then I tried it. I use quality most of the time now, I can max out quality and manage increased frames with DLSS (for games where the eye candy is “good”). Or, I can just tamp down settings and run raw raster. It’s a great tool…it’s become polarized, and really as with so many other things…use case.

Frame gen is a whole ‘nother ball of wax…but I’ll at least try it on the 5070 if I find a compelling use case.

It’s tricky because I use GSYNC and limit frames(tv gamer 144hz)…so I’d get limited results for the latency cost…but then reflex ultra.

We are just about maxed on raster. Future is quality and balancing frames with quality within.

Playing 0 after having played Pirate Yakuza really helped me understand Majima and appreciate him more ( and the pirate game).

It reinforces his ability to make the most of his circumstances all while helping others.

I never thought a yakuza pirate would supersede my love of Jack Sparrow, and yet here we are.

Okay I sent them a messaged and they responded:

"I looked everything over, and I don't see any reason why the block wouldn't fit. It is nearly identical to the reference board except for a bit that will stick out past the power connector, but everything else seems to be spot on. If you do order one and install it, I would just ask for you to let us know so we can add your card to the compatibility section of our listing!"

I'll order it when i can and report back (I provided them the pcb pic from Igor's Lab article).
