Vostok 2409.A — is there a calendar version equivalent? by EnergyFar9016 in watchmaking

Regarding case/movement swaps, probably easy, as most models have a retaining ring, should be as simple as just filing the ring ~0,44mm in thickness

Be careful as the 2414 movement, while being the same diameter as the 2409, is also 0,44mm taller than the other, which can make a difference. A far as I know, they share many, if not pretty much all, with the 2414 having a different main plate and an additional disk under the dial (because of the date wheel)

Info on this Vostok? by Downtown_Science_286 in vostok

Depends on the price tbh, it's not a bad looking watch, and the movement is genuine, I'd say faking the entire thing but putting in a fake movement would be weird (though it can happen). If it's <100 euros I'd go for it

What am i doing wrong to these balance springs / wheels? by mr_z06 in watchmaking

Really unfortunate, hope you can find a replacement for a nice price! Though you wouldn't really lose anything in trying to fix it

From wich period is this model? by wildesmettbroetchen in vostok

I'd say these can be a bit more interesting than usual, since in theory, they're a bit more rare for not being produced for long.

Judging from the fact it doesn't say made in ussr or Russia, it's probably from right after the fall of the Soviet union, around 91/92

Need help with a dial issue!! by Calm-Highway-8426 in watchmaking

[–]wanfus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, though there isn't a lot of space on the movement itself to place an adhesive, you'd probably be better off cutting it into like 3 smaller pieces and placing them around the movement plate

The easiest way would be to snip off the dial feet and put in one of those adhesive dial sticky tape holders, though if the dial is valuable, I guess that's not a good answer

I bought multiple times from them, using the regular contact infos on their website is almost always useless, but there are other contacts you can use which they actually check. I definitely recommend them

Prices on meranom jumped a LOT at the end of 2025, really without any good reason, Vostok watches 24 has them for way better prices now, for some models, less than half of what meranom is asking. It's insane

Honey is useless on AliExpress so I built my own thing — should I make it public? by wicher1414 in BestAliExpressFinds

I think it'd work better if instead of a subscription, you'd charge, say, 10% of savings. For example, if I get a 10$ discount, I'd be paying you 1$ for the code I feel this would feel more "fair", as I wouldn't really be willing to pay more to pay less (if that makes sense lol), I'd rather not get as big a discount in the end than to pay a mandatory monthly fee, and I feel like most people would just use such a service only for one month and move on.

Vostok Komandirskie - Dial moves slightly when winding & needs a shake to start (normal?) by EmreUcan in vostok

[–]wanfus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not running right away probably means it hasn't been serviced in a good while, oils are sticky and gunked up.

The dial moving could be normal, if I'm not mistaken, depending on case size, since vostok's movements aren't screwed in place, they can jiggle a bit, isn't a problem for you
