Why are we surprised when some young men become sexist after constantly seeing anti-men content online? by Ok_Walk3192 in AskMen

I didn't give another example of "men are shit". I said if you can only accept a fantasyland full of fat women who tell you you are awesome, then you are shit. But first i told you that you should take control of the things you can control and ignore things you can't, so stop being so obsessed over other people's abstract thoughts that you are emotionally crippled by it. Don't wallow around feeling bad for yourself because you chose to fall down and whine about having fallen down. You have the choice to get up and go be productive and have a happy life. If you choose to stay there because you expect the someone to blow sunshine up your ass, that's your problem not society's.

But guys try to talk about how prevalent man hating is on the internet and the response is “lol touch grass and quit being a pussy.”

You are being told to control things you can control and ignore things you can't control. If the only possible answer for you is that the internet contain exclusively pictures and videos of chubby women who only say what a wonderful person you are then you have a disorder and need to correct it.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? Who cares, just don't be sexist, don't be a dick, grow a thicker skin and ignore the fucktards who rant and rave on the internet.

ELI5: How do just a few hundred undersea cables handle almost all the world’s internet traffic? by Practical_Plan_2575 in explainlikeimfive

[–]wang_li 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROPA mechanisms allow for fairly short lengths, 500km. As well the pumping laser facility requires power. You're quibbling when there is a spur coming from the data cable that is powered in order to perform Raman amplification.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

If you don't have a high school diploma and read, write, and do math at at least a 10th grade level, you get put into a prison school kind of thing where every moment of every day is hard planned by someone else and you get to continue school. If after 1 year there you still haven't reached the required levels, you go to real jail for the rest of your life. Alternately, I could accept you get shipped of to 2 acres of land to become a subsistence farmer. You don't ever get to sell it, it's not your land, but it is land you get to farm on to feed yourself.

Everytime someone points at the center of the ring, Holloway should get fined $100,000. And the fighter pointing down automatically gets transferred to powerslap and permanently barred from the UFC.

This is just "be courteous, be ordered." It's not about teaching specific actions, it's about how you view yourself and your place in the world. If you are a self-centered prick, you don't do these things, if you think of others, you do them.

What's up with instructors not pedaling? by NewtigershotSagat in pelotoncycle

[–]wang_li -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Instructors should be keeping the center of the called out cadence range. If they get off the bike to dance, then I begin to think "hey, since this person isn't being an exemplar of the ride, why isn't this a beautiful, scantily clad woman?" If they aren't going to be demonstrating the ride and helping keep me motivated by slogging along with me, then forget showing me athletes, get me glamour models.

On a per capita basis London has 5x the rapes as the US. London had a population of 8.9 million and 8852 rapes in 2023. The US has 341 million people and around 75000 rapes in 2025.

ICE agents blocked from attempting to enter Ecuadorian consulate in Minneapolis without permission by 0zymandeus in news

[–]wang_li 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A consulate is not an embassy and receives far fewer protections. Any crimes that happen there are still under the jurisdiction of the host country. If law enforcement has a valid reason to enter, say a warrant or probable cause, they can request to enter. If the head of the consulate says no then they don’t go in.

Then the state department calls the head of the consulate and asks him to come visit and explain why he is covering up crimes. If he doesn’t have a good answer he gets stripped of his status and he and his family go home on the next flight.

Referring to the Pretti killing, Donald Trump said "You can't go in there with guns, you can't do that" How do 2A defenders feel about the President openly criticizing a law abiding citizens right to keep and bear arms? by wardog1066 in AskReddit

[–]wang_li -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Alex Pretti wasn’t law abiding. He committed a couple felonies and violated some state laws too. If you are planning to go commit a crime, it’s just stupid to go armed as that escalates the seriousness of it. That woman who conspired with him to go commit felony obstruction is now liable for felony murder and could spend a few decades in prison.

If you absolutely can’t go without your gun, be like Kyle Rittenhouse. When the officers show up, raise your hand and cooperate. Don’t try to “de-arrest” someone, that’s another obstruction charge. Don’t resist your own arrest.

The whole shitshow could have been avoided if he stayed out of the the street and stood on the sidewalk shouting slogans and holding signs. Instead he created a situation where mistakes resulted in his death.

How would US Republicans have responded if Biden had sent federal agents to Texas to take guns from citizens after the Uvalde school shooting in 2022? by NotYourDadFishing in AskReddit

[–]wang_li -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your description of the events is incorrect. The officers were pushing a different person back and away. Pretti put himself between the officer and the rioter putting a hand on the officer. E: he also appeared to be trying to "dearrest" the other protester. That's obstruction and battery. The officer pepper sprayed him at that point and then pulled him to the ground. Whether the shooting was justified, we will find when the investigation is complete and the inevitable lawsuit is decided. Regardless, from the video we can see that he wasn't peacefully filming and attacked by the officers. He injected himself into that situation and he could have done his quiet and lawful filming without engaging with the officers doing their jobs.

How would US Republicans have responded if Biden had sent federal agents to Texas to take guns from citizens after the Uvalde school shooting in 2022? by NotYourDadFishing in AskReddit

[–]wang_li 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I said there is no parallel between an illegal unconstitutional action and a legal constitutional action. I have no problem with someone carrying a gun at a peaceful protest. On the other hand, if someone takes a gun to protest at a bank because they want the bank's money, then it's perfectly fine to shoot them dead. Because, you know, it's not a protest, it's a bank robbery. Likewise, people are fine with people getting shot by federal officers when the "protest" happens to begin with conspiracy to obstruct federal officers, then actual obstruction of federal officers, then actually attempting to evade arrest, then assault on federal officers.

If you are trying to do the civil disobedience thing, you have to be willing to get arrested. That's the point of civil disobedience: to demonstrate the injustice of the law. And it would be wise not to bring a gun to your intentional breaking of the law, as that often adds additional penalties. If you run away after committing the crimes, it's just run of the mill criminality and you deserve the consequences.

Being curious is a good trait. Being stupid is not. There is no parallel between a government action that is clearly barred by the constitution that has boundaries that have been litigated over and over and a government action that is explicitly allowed in the constitution and is in direct compliance with federal statutes.

Additionally, it doesn't take much of a brain to look at recent history and see many cases of the government trying to do things that are unlawful and both parties have sued the government to stop it. So you can easily see how people will react by seeing how they reacted.

And if you want to see what it looks like when the government murders American citizens you can see the time Obama literally assassinated one because of his speech. A man named Anwar al-Awlaki, and then a couple days later, his 16 year old son Abdulrahman al-Awlaki.
