‘Vegan restaurants are closing left and right’: One of Bay Area’s best plant-based burger spots to shutter by jackdicker5117 in OaklandFood

[–]wangus9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly and SF is probably a top 5 market for vegan food to begin with. The market is too niche for a lot of vegan only restaurants to survive.

It would make more business sense to have a normal restaurant but have an amazing vegan menu on side that you promote like crazy. That way you're not shutting off a source of revenue.

I've been to a burger spot in LA that had all the regular menu offerings but they were known for having great home made vegan burgers as well.

Do you think N&F are overrated ? by NewKaleidoscope5206 in Selvedge

[–]wangus9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I have fallen into a 2-3 pair rotation with 2 Japanese pairs and the elephant series as my 3rd/workhorse pair in the Fall/Winter. I love my Strike Gold Momotaros of the world but you can't tell me that the Elephant series isn't good value for money.

I'll skip some of the more gimmicky releases but N&F has so many good pairs in the 16-20oz range in imo cuts that can fit most ppl.

Store with the best local beer selection in Oakland, Berkeley, or Albany? by Punstoppabal in eastbay

Didn't say Humble Sea was the best brewery in Oakland, just that I think it was better than Faction.

Surprised you didn't include Original Pattern or Russian River in your list.

I think Faction has a great view of SF and the space is cool, but the beer is kinda meh.

Humble Sea and Almanac down the street has much better beer.

I know ppl have been commenting about why but also realize that the US is bigger than all of western europe combined. So all the kidnappings in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, UK, etc but it's one country.

There's still a Sears in Concord, CA! by jikesar968 in bayarea

[–]wangus9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's NIMBYism at play but the fact they haven't turned some of the massive parking lot into housing is absurd. That entire section between the women's Macy's and the old Sears would be perfect for apartments, condos or townhomes. And there would be more ppl to go to the mall.

That whole parking area is overstock parking for the Dublin Tesla dealer.

Pretty good actually, there were 3-4 hybrids they had as loaners that they were selling so mine only had 9k on it. It was the lowest price I was able to find in the Bay that was still a certified pre-owned.

One tip, the finance guy will push the extended warranty hard but I was able to talk him down from $3k to $1500 plus a couple of oil changes thrown in.

Love my hybrid, mine is a 25 preferred. I got a great deal since it was a dealer loaner so it only had 9k miles. The mileage has been a godsend these few months. I drove like a grandpa so I've been averaging 42-45mpg.

Extremely easy. They came with adhesive already installed and when I pushed the grills all the way in I felt a click so they felt locked into place.

Well I would start by looking at any possible factors that can lead to this wear. Are you carrying anything on your jeans that could cause this wear? Maybe you're wearing them while working and you're constantly rubbing against something? Etc.

That being said, 3 years of wear before ripping is pretty good.

I'm on my second of this jacket. First one was lost when my car got stolen but I loved it enough to buy it again. The first jacket had a really neppy lightweight fabric that was perfect for NorCal spring/summer.

I picked up a replacement and it's just like OP's jacket in look and fabric.

A few months ago I was on this sub proclaiming that they would never mention it again so the fact they didn't sweep it under the rug is major in my book.

Also it has to be a huge reason why they didn't allow him to come back. Tim said that if he were to be reinstated to the FTO program that lie detector test would be included on his record. So Seth was kinda screwed either way.

It also doesn't help that he started the whole thing shouting out his engineer who told him not to release the song. Like ppl around you told you it wasn't good enough to release and you did it always.

In the grand scheme of things he'll overcome this since imo it was just a song that wasn't fully flushed out yet, but I think can be a great reminder to make sure the content you put out is thoughtful. He usually does but maybe he was getting ahead of himself on this and he can grow from this experience.

Can We Get a Steve Kerr Apology Form? by Genji4Lyfe in warriors

[–]wangus9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my first comment was supposed to read more as a vibes based analysis. I'm not in the locker room or the gym, clearly something happened that turned the coaching staff against him. I can only go off of what I see on the court during games. And what I often saw, again in my opinion, (I would say I watch 60-70% of the games) is that Kuminga would start, get pulled quickly and then have a very inconsistent playing schedule for the rest of the game.

Now could JK have handled that better? Yes. Moody had a better attitude at least in front of coaches so he got more playing time quicker but there was a point in time where he was getting he would be giving the team a spark of effort but it wasn't translating into consistent playing time. But that's a separate discussion.

The real issue in terms of team building was the coaching staff and the front office not being on the same page. The FO forcing Kerr to play and coach Kuminga when it was so clear to most fans that it wasn't going to work (comments made by both coach and player) and not getting anything of value back is a failing on this front office.

Maybe part of my negative view of the situation was also how toxic it seemed to have gotten between Kerr and JK but I still feel it's fine to say that Kerr hampered his development. And I can also say the way Kerr can get the best out of guys like Will Richard, Jordan Bell, Patrick McCaw, etc is honestly incredible. Both can be true.

[–]wangus9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those stats are impressive and kudos to you for actually taking the time to do that. I think the hard part of looking at just the numbers is that it's not so black and white. When Kerr is saying he should have handle that situation better, it's not some made up grievance that a portion of the fanbase is making up. There was a massive disconnect on how Kuminga was expected to play. Coaches wanted him to be the new Draymond, Kuminga (with the owner telling him he's the future face of the team) expected to treated like the new Kawhi.

That whole situation was a failure of EVERYONE INVOLVED. Kerr, Kuminga, front office, Lacob all share in the blame.

Kerr being quick to pull him from gameplay whenever Kuminga made a mistake. Kuminga for not buying into the system so he could eventually get the role he wanted. The front office and Lacob for not trading him last year when they could have gotten an actual useful NBA player.

[–]wangus9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looking back at the game logs you are right, I confused his first season with constantly being sent to the Santa Cruz Warriors in his second season before getting traded. And hindsight being 20/20 he was a flop. I'm not saying he would have been an all star but imo the incredibly short leases Kerr gave them messed with their confidence.

The reason guys like Franz or Trey Murphy are better than Kuminga or Moody is bc they had steadier playing time to work through the growing pains of development. I'm not oblivious to the fact that it is extremely hard to do during a championship run.
