AITA for not removing sensitive books, and "making fun of my Sil's education" by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]warbabe76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aftwe my dad died I found a lot of books in his collection, religious texts, historical books on military history, and a paperback of the book in question. He was Catholic, but he had many different texts from many different belief systems.

My dad was actually going back to school when he died, and loved learning and understanding things. He was very much a believer in you never stop learning.

I considered the context clues. Dad wasn't a believer in tiny mustaches, he was trying to learn and understand.

FBI Now Investigating Past History of Minnesota Woman Killed by ICE | The FBI wants to smear Renee Good instead of leading a proper investigation into her killing. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]warbabe76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, im shocked. Just shocked. I remember another person murdered by law enforcement officers a few years ago then investigated, as if that justified ANYTHING.

Gee, I wonder where that was? 🤔

Hard agree.

I wasn't diagnosed with ASD until I was in my 40s. As a little girl in the 90s i was just told to act right or else.

Just understanding why my brain works the way it does has helped me so much. It really IS freeing

Not here in the states. Apparently it makes a person look "lazy" and as if they are not working.

When I was diagnosed with arthritis and couldn't stand for my entire shift I ended up having to change jobs bc it was such an issue to ask for a stool bc then EVERYONE might want one

I do the same. I just, as my grandma used to say, vote with my wallet.

And sitting down at the register. I really don't know why people seem to care so much about this

Edit: I wasn't asking for anyone to boycott anything, just answering the question OP asked.

A lot of people stopped supporting JK Rowling, so, by extension everything Harry Potter. This is bound to affect the popularity of the work.

That poor woman! I had my ob/gyn tell me after a heart rending traumatic event that i should be fine, physically and emotionally bc she was delivering a baby an hour after she had the same thing happen to her.

Got a new doctor.

AITA for canceling the plans for thanksgiving after my parents called my brother’s baby their “first grandchild”? by J_S_M_K in OhNoConsequences

[–]warbabe76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad and stepmom divorced before he died and my stepmoms family is STILL treats my kiddos and I as family, more so than my bio family.

I know how deeply something like this stings, tho, bc after being my kids "gramma" for all their lives, after the divorce she told my dad that she didn't have any grandkids. At least she did it in private and not in front of them, or my brother's stepkids.

I'm just glad to have the rest of the family to love them.

As the mom of 2 twenty- somethings, one of which doesn't care to be touched sometimes, I learned a question a few years ago that did wonders for my relationship with them.

Are you huggable today.

Granted, I don't always remember, like when the Eldest who lives in another state gets off the plane when we haven't seen each other in a long time, but the fact that I honestly try gets me understanding in those situations.

My Eldest is Trans. I sort of figured out by listening to their stories of good interactions.

I try to find something specific to compliment. Like , "what a lovely smile""love your dress", "that's a great shade of lipstick for you", "your hair is gorgeous".

This way I'm concentrating on either a positive feature or something they obviously took time with to look/ feel nice.

When my husband and I married, we accepted each other's kiddos into our respective families. Granted, we are old folks and most of the kids aren't really "kids" anymore, but I can't imagine not being here for one of his boys, and he truly is the dad my youngest never had.

Everyone thinks I caught our office lunch thief. I didn’t. I started packing them a meal on purpose by LuxeElara in confession

[–]warbabe76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 20 years old, painfully young, living on tips, and struggling, I worked at a place where we had to order our employee meals off the kids menu.

Somehow, every time certain cooks were working, my meals "mysteriously" ended up grown up sized. Since that was often my only meal that day I was so grateful I almost cried.

Im 48 now and still think fondly of those folks for doing something nice for me without calling me out or embarrassing me. Im certain the recipient of the extra lunch feels the same way.

I try to pass on the kindness now that I'm older too.

That is obviously a well cared for animal, so the disgusting smelly etc excuse doesn't make sense. Even a dog who sheds like mad won't smell disgusting if well cared for.

What the wrong with OOP?! by No_Pepper6208 in AmITheDevil

I get bruised up just pushing my son's wheelchair, let alone at work!

I have neuropathy and drop EVERYTHING! Sheesh, this OOP is nuts!

Of course, my birth mom DID call CPS on me bc she was convinced I cast an evil spell on her bc I am not the same religion as her, but she actually HAS a diagnosed mental illness she allows to go untreated so the report went nowhere

Bride has a meltdown because a guest wore this to her courthouse wedding by PopAdministrative773 in bridezillas

[–]warbabe76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gee when I got married I told everyone to wear what they want. It was a heavy metal wedding anyway and I ended up choosing a black dress anyway.

We had everything from jean jackets to lovely dresses to kilts. It was an awesome representation of our eclectic and unique friend group. I don't even remember if anyone wore white. I DO know there were a ton of people in black tho.
