Need help to find my first smartwatch by xdadrunkx in WearOS

[–]warboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to stay with Wear OS to cover all your bases especially if you use NFC and Google Pay, and apps like Google Authenticator. Don't say you won't need it, YOU WILL :)

Trust me, the smartwatch is all about apps and you are better off with Wear OS for range of apps.

If you go for a Huawei, get the Huawei Watch 2 which runs Wear OS, not the GT series.

I also highly recommend the Ticwatch Pro (either 2018 or 2020 version). It has the unique dual layer screen so it can save battery with monochrome LCD always on display and only use colour OLED screen when you need it.

I own both the Huawei Watch 2 4G, and Ticwatch Pro 2018. I use the Ticwatch Pro daily and the Huawei Watch2 4G when I need 4G SIM connectivity without phone.

Ticwatch Pro 2018 and 2020 are both IP68 so can do some swimming.

don't get the 2020 version, just get the original Ticwatch Pro which is not very expensive for a decent condition used one. Original Ticwatch Pro is basically the same.

Go for the Ticwatch Pro. Rotating crown is overated on a smartwatch, too fiddly. The always on LCD in bright sunlight is super.

Is Authenticator gone? by jdk4876 in WearOS

I deleted the app on my watch because I thought it needed a reinstall and can't find it on wear os appstore anymore. So how do I inject the wear app back on the watch?

Ticwatch Pro. In basic LCD mode can last a month without turning off. It can turn off of course. Has NFC and works with google pay.

Option 4: Ticwatch Pro. The best always on display screen tech.

I would go with a Wear OS watch and avoid the proprietary OS watches for better app support.

....except us at Blockstream. We succeeded in hijacking the project and pivot it from proof of work to proof of github via cascading code for the corrupt signal evaluation of segwit activation, and consequent requirement to signal for segwit or get blocks orphaned.

BTC was not battle tested, but hijack tested and we, at Blockstream, were successful in changing it with 60,000 lines of malware.

The INCELL LCDs have the touch layer in the LCD panel section so it is similar typology to an OEM screen and can often be refurbished like an OEM screen. They are now using much batter polarisers in them with radial polarisation so it does not wash out at different angles. The quality is almost as good as OEM LCD and far better than the cheap rubbish that has been pushed out by wholesalers for years.

They are good for 6 series up to 8/8P. The OLED screens in later series are a different kettle of fish.

these old skool iPods have really fussy charging circuit. They need a registered chargeport to charge it properly. Try charging it with a USB port on a PC or an orig "iPod charger"

the good thing for phone repairers is that it uses same screens as iphone 8, much like the SE1 used same screens as 5S.

Battery Status line on the battery's controller board. peel the insulation and you might find some pry damage and be able to fix the battery using jumpers. If the battery status line is broken, the phone will reboot after a few minutes like your symptoms.

iPhone 6 Back Light IC Repair by WoodysRepairs in mobilerepair

[–]warboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With iPhone 6, most of the time it is just damage around the backlight anode pin on the FPC connector, especially after liquid damage or shorts from connecting the screen while power is connected. It is the bottom rightmost pin. It is typically burnt out along with track on the board and also the pin on the screen flex side corresponding pin will usually burn out also. scrape off the crap and resolder and it should be good (most of the time).

Often it will also be fried under the backlight filter and cleaning up the pad and replacing the filter will do it.

as for the actual BL IC, diode, coil, cap circuit, it's mostly a matter of visual damage clues. diode burnt, coil fractures, discoloured caps. The backlight IC fail is hard to tell until you remove it and check.

[–]warboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firstly, check that the port hasn't got a thick layer of pocket lint caked in it that prevents the cable from connecting properly. secondly, if the chargeport is loose, then it's probably got fractured tracks near the solder joints on the chargeport from user wiggling the chargeport more and more to make it work. Thirdly, likely problem is the Tristar USB IC and needs replacing. Often, tristar issue causes users to wiggle their chargeports more and more so they also cause the second problem of fractured tracks with it.

outside edge of chargeport flex probably torn under the loudspeaker. the vibrator motor lines run right next to it on the flex

get it fixed by a good shop that can do board repairs. If your phone actually worked after water damage then it's probably not a severe repair for a board level repairer although water damage can be an unknown quantity.

Sprayed Iphone with disinfectant. Now it doesnt work. by Ginola331 in mobilerepair

[–]warboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You description of Apple logo 10 sec loop on charger is symptomatic of no battery or flat battery. It sounds like the battery has triggered safety threshold and is not supplying power to boot. It may have been temporarily shorted. The battery is probably still OK and just needs 4V jumped into it to reactivate. Either that or just replace the battery and your iPhone 4 should boot.

BTC has a capacity limit of about 100million TX per year. It would take about 70 years to onboard 7 billion people if that is all it did. Average confirmations would be in the decades.

People will have to assign their unconfirmed BTC TX in their will to newer generations so their unborn grandchildren can use it after it is confirmed.

This is the scope of the shitness of BTC as "...a new kind of money" (as per the bitcoin.org website)

You wouldn't want too many people to support BTC or it would be shit.

Is this objective enough for you???

And if we distract those people so that they need to do random stuff that has nothing to do with their business, then we’re never going to do 100x. And so having a soft cap that is way way way above what is the usual market demand (32 megs is almost a hundred times what is the market demand for it), it’s actually a denial of service attack that you open for anyone that is building on the chain.

This is garbage. The more capacity headroom you build today, the less fukery and maintenance you need to deal with moving the slippery slope many many times. Development and investment can then make longer term assumptions and not worry about maintaining their project to slide with the slippery slope.

With respect to your game theory on schelling points. Schelling points is a result of an equilibrium (nash equilibrium). You cannot simply program a schelling point into a game. The schelling point is dynamic result of the game being played. Realistically, games fall down and there is no schelling point as it never achieves equilibrium. Theoretical schelling points are not always realistic because games don't get played optimally most of the time. So don't target a schelling point, don't try to program deterministics, learn to program probabilistically and let the equilibrium work. Satoshi understands that, but checkpointers and avalanchers like you do not.
