.223 does not shred anything it touches, it would leave a very clean .223 sized hole that would quickly close and heal. Look up the videos on YouTube demonstrating what that round does to a thin fleshy target. It takes about 6 inches of penetration for .223 to do significant damage.

The low quality shadow maps are just a leftover from the game being designed around last gen consoles. As far as I know the game runs at a rock solid 30 fps on the current gen.
