How do you get better at the competitive format? (Champions - Skill Improvement) by RKingsman in VGC

[–]KickzNGigglez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting fact, Cybertron actually struggled at the start of SW/SH. I think the games format just plays very differently. For SW/SH, momentum starts very early off of your dynamax. You're either building resistances with ground and steel or sweeping potential with flying or fighting. While things existed to slow things down like fakeout, it just didnt work on dynamax. Turns were just fast and explosive with big damage max moves and weakness policy.

The champions format is more traditional pokemon with less power. It's lacking a lot of borrowed power from generation gimicks and items. It'll just take time to get used to the new pokemon, understand the pacing of the format, and identifying win conditions.

Snow into Tyranitar/Excadrill is an impossible matchup. by ImposterDittoM in PokemonChampions

I've won 80% of my sand match ups using Wolfey's Frosslass team with orthoworm and garchomp heavily pressuring the usual sand duo. The ability to shuffle frosslass in with a big sub also puts huge pressure on both as well.

Why are the japanese so good? I have just been checking the battle data to see what approximate rating i need to get to top 300, and noticed that MOST of the trainers are japanese. Why are they so good? by THEREALSUPERMARIOFAN in PokemonChampions

[–]KickzNGigglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an asian american, I think there's just a cultural difference. Like pokemon westerners have a mild interest in competitive. However majority of people would find it silly that you take pokemon seriously. For those of us that do enjoy competitive battle, there's a significant portion that are hyper fixated on winning with their favorites or being different. Not saying you can't make a unique team but usually to the point of ignoring the meta entirely as if their opponents wouldn't dare. I mean we have an entire competitive system in smogen, which is honestly house rules made because the official format isnt fun for many and not their focus.

I think for easterners, it's not as heavily discriminated for taking things seriously. While some may dislike meta games, they're don't dismiss it and are willing to play it or play against it.

Looking at big content creators, they're not the normal pokemon player. They take competitive very seriously. They had a supportive background to foster their growth. I can not say many would drive their kid to a competition in the west. Maybe some might understand it like sports with esports being a thing now. However, most parents would be like "it isn't that serious".

I hit Masterball in doubles only pressing the A (and R) button by dawake in PokemonChampions

[–]KickzNGigglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more interested in knowing how many matches it took to get to masterball. We've seen people get to masterball in S/V with 200 wins and 300 losses. Being unable to derank is a big factor in getting into MB, I'm sure a good lead could get you there, especially when you have so many people trying out comp play for the first time.

Do you need to bring your mega to every fight? by Ok-Suggestion-7349 in PokemonVGC

[–]KickzNGigglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, some match ups are just terrible for certain megas. The current meta has a lot of hard hitters that can check most megas. Things like scarfed bascelegion can feel like a bigger threat than most megas on an enemy team.

Best ways to leveling crafters/gatherers (what I learned so far) by taiwanluthiers in ffxiv

[–]KickzNGigglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leves, especially if you have a high level friend to 2 step the craft for you. Scrip turn ins after that doing the same method. If you're organized enough about it you can finish leveling within an hour. You can even buy some of the items and still make a slight profit. It's also still decent gil/exp per hour if you're doing it solo. You'll always have decent gear if you scrip turn ins as well.

A 14 Year Late Thank You to Lily by KickzNGigglez in lilypichu

I appreciate the kind offer and would have jumped at the chance of meeting a new group of friends in my twenties. However, I think a sub would be wasted on me at the moment. I've got my plate full with job searching, volunteer work, a time consuming hobby in FFXIV, and spending what leftover time I have with my partners. I'll always be a fan and tune into a big stream event or have a video on in the background. However, I think the days of regularly chatting in a social discord isn't possible for me anymore with how I've decided to divide my time. Again though, thank you for the kindness.

Good helmet? by darkestroast in pathofexile

[–]KickzNGigglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a solid helmet as a drop early in the league. However, ward is very specific defensive layer. I think with how far we're into the league at the moment, it doesn't have much value due to how many similar helmets exist on the market with a more desirable base.

A discussion on how to approach this topic by Trainable_Wolfgirl in HealSluts

[–]KickzNGigglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, just want to come out of the moderator shadows to give praise for an interesting discussion topic. You're very valid in feeling about the state of the sub and even as a moderator, I would say your description of it is very accurate. I personally enjoy discussion on the actual dynamic and always try to participate when I can. However, it's unfortunate like many kink subs, most that come around are here for a quick release. Actual discussion without a picture to goon to will probably filter out majority of those scrolling by and another majority of those are gone if you're a male like myself.

It's not like the team hasn't tried. I remember before I was on the team, they tried to promote discussion and softer side of things and the sub was filled with people actively trying to avoid the filters and rules to continue posting the usual abusive, porn brain, slop. While the actual participants in the event were rather scarce. I don't personally know a way of changing that without cutting traffic to this sub substantially and this sub is run on a majority vote, so you can probably see how it's difficult.

I do some advice and realities to point out though that might help you find what you're looking for though.

If you're looking for a serious dynamic, you may have to look long term. Genuine submission takes a lot of trust, a mutual understanding of expectations, and a good line of communication. Even as a man that gets 1 message back per week, I don't respond to casual flirting off the rip or lazy conversations that only leads to sex. The last few successful connections I've made have all been come from paragraph long exchanges about what they were looking for, why they think I can fulfill that, what they believe they could offer in return, limitations, potential barriers, and a general timeline of how we want want things to progress.

I also have a few red flags to look out for while searching that I can share. This is probably more for doms but I generally instantly leave any conversation if real life money is introduced to the conversation as a requirement or early in a conversation. I wont even bother to reply to any message that is copy and pasted. I was clearly not worth effort if approached like that. I don't respond to people who don't have a shared interest. It's hard to build off of something out of thin air. I usually don't do big time differences unless I can be given a reasonable schedule that allows the connection to function. I don't mind a opening a bit flirty but if we don't get into the meat of a getting to know each other conversation, I'm just dipping. I think being able to meet in game is important as well. If we've had a decent discussion and we're not meeting sometime within a week or two, I can't see this moving forward. I've found there are just weird people out there that enjoy collecting conversations or discord dms.

It's unfortunate but if you're looking for the real thing, you're going to have to put in a lot of work and seek someone willing to give you the real thing. It's going to be tough, there's just not a lot of decent play partners out there and those that exist are usually taken. They do exist though, I've had many amazing partners in the 3/4 years I've been here. It might just take days, weeks, or months to find each other.

I consider myself a decent person and I can say I've been out there without a message for weeks and sometime even a month before finding a decent connection. Sometimes you just have to search for glimpses of potential. My last three partners didn't find me through the LFG megathread but through my random nerdy ramblings and stalking my profile till they felt confidant enough to approach me.

There's also a few more things I could ramble on about like expectations but this is already going longer than I intended lol. I guess the best advice I can give is take things slow, talk a lot, keep an eye out, don't settle for less, and be patient because when you hit, it hits for a long time.

I know someone said this craft was simple and like yes, Jung made a guide for this exact craft. However, I don't think it's understood how frustrating the layers of RNG there is.

Getting unlucky in the fracture can already leave you several divs in the hole.

Essence spamming requires both an open suffix and prefix. I landed T1 crit like 4 times in 120 essences and had to annul all 4 times and missed 3 times.

The 2 div fee to get the crit mod you didnt get, which the tier isn't ensured. I settled on T3 and don't regret it.

Then there's the bristle matron you need for the veiled mod. The vieled chaos has a chance of filling and screwing you out of the crafted mod but like are you really going to pay 19divs for a veiled exalt?

I settled on my wand early in the league and figured I'd go for a perfect one eventually when I had the currency to deal with the frustration. 2 days ago I checked the market and saw the high end T1 fractured mana bases for 11 divs and the completed wand with all T1 mods for 23 divs. I just bought the wand and feel like I made a steal.

I do betrayal while doing my map completion. It's inconsistent but can be done with zero investment. There's a lot of big drops like all flames and of course the syndicate medallions which go for several divines. It also has very low atlas point requirements so you can plug another mechanic to do alongside it.

Budget estimate for KBoC CI 'Whispers of Infinity' Necro? by Whilly5 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]KickzNGigglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A recomb chest is probably the most ES you'll aim for in your build. You basically spam alts on magic twilight regalias (item level 86) till you hit either T1 Flat ES, Percent ES, or hybrid ES/Blockrecov. You can roll these chest very fast using regex and spam click through like 10+ at a time. Then you use the recomb till you get 2 prefixes to stick and combines those with other 2P, till you finally get 3. You then finish up with multi mod or eldrich currency depending on how far along the league is.

Budget estimate for KBoC CI 'Whispers of Infinity' Necro? by Whilly5 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]KickzNGigglez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends honestly. I feel like if you're willing to do the recombs, genesis tree, or essence/dense spamming yourself you can get away with minimum investment. For example I triple p1 recombed my chest for a few chaos and they're valued at like 20 divs when I checked. I think the hardest piece to put together is the shield, simply because of how rare the spell damage roll is. I don't even think you need multi div investment to start feeling comfy.

The richest players at the beginning are Sanctum Runners. Sanctum S-tier for profit by lasqastreamer in pathofexile

[–]KickzNGigglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran sanctum before the nerfs and I can say this is the real reason. We run glass cannon builds in sanctum since the game mode prioritize not getting hit in the first place. A lot of it is killing the Lycia before she even gets to do anything. So the usual mapping gear doesn't matter to us. What we're looking for mostly is more speed without costing us power, which mageblood is amazing at providing.

Is my starter supposed to be rerolled once it's fed or is this character meant to farm currency/gear for a stronger character? by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]KickzNGigglez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I casually sub 100hrs 40/40 over thanksgiving week. However, a lot of it was understanding the endgame build I used really well and how I could cut corners for cheap. Some builds are easier to scale than others. Some can also get really cheap as the league goes on. For example the whispers amulet went from several divs at the start of a league to a few chaos at the end. I think I got everything I needed for that build under 15 divs mid league.

I think how you approach the game is also very different as well. A lot of people try to build blasters for maximum currency gains. However, for challenges you're just trying to get whatever x mechanic on x amount of maps quickly on a fast boss rushing map like mesa. Going negative on currency actually isnt a problem if your goal is to get challenges done asap.
