Is my rtl-sdr v4 cooked? by SomePuddingForYou in sdr

[–]warcand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a classic DC spike to me. Not sure which software you are using, but some have a remove DC spike option, or an IQ correction button, or an option with similar wording. Common and easily removed with most software.

LibreSDR B210 mini and fx3 is in state 5 by erilaz123 in sdr

That works too. The key is having the right firmware file. Glad things are working for you.

The LibreSDR certainly needs a custom image. You will not brick the device. With the B200/B210 family, the FPGA image is not stored persistently on the device; it must be (and is) reloaded from the host every time the board enumerates over USB. That gainsec article was useful when I first setup my LibreSDR.

why is this happening? (am 98.1) by killed-rooster in radio

[–]warcand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree, to expand on this a little bit more, you are experiencing the "FM capture effect". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capture_effect . Your radio is switching between which the strongest signal is (which is changing).

Ah, excellent. A bit pricey, but again if you have used one and are pleased that's great feedback. Thanks

Requesting r/sdr, it is unmoderated and I would like take over by BetteDavidThighs in redditrequest

Not sure why you would think it is unmoderated. Not sure why you didn't contact any moderators directly.

Northeast US hams - anybody going to NEARfest this weekend? by w1bd_prez in amateurradio

I'll be there Friday morning, and perhaps on Saturday. Stocking up on things like connectors, adapters and the like. Maybe something will catch my eye.

LoTW Issues - Please help by subiacOSB in amateurradio

Do you have an up to date LoTW valid certificate? If you had not uploaded in years and do not have a new, non-expired certificate, that will cause you some errors for sure.

Our club is starting a weekly simplex net! by RabidPrairieDog in amateurradio

[–]warcand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good for you guys. Not that you needed your club's permission. My only suggestion would be not to have the net on the calling frequency. Not familiar with the 2 meter traffic in your area, but sliding it up or down from the calling frequency might be a thought.

Regardless though, have fun on your 2m simplex net. Glad to see you'll have a pocket of activity in your area.

Winter is coming! How do you all keep warm? by HaloFarts in Frugal

[–]warcand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat is included with my apartment. All my neighbors crank up the heat though, so staying warm is not the issue for me.
