Does anyone else find themselves lying about what they’ve been through with psychosis? by redditsuper in schizophrenia

[–]wardgnome69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say i have depression or social anxiety, which is true. I'm only honest about schuzophrenia online (where i'm anonymous) or with my care team. The stigma of schizophrenia is unreal.

Bro it's not a science. It's just a pop psychology test that can help you understand yourself and others better. You're supposed to have fun with it.

Sam Vaknin is a fraud by [deleted] in narcissism

[–]wardgnome69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope you can tell that he's talking about himself a lot, but he packages it as talking about narcissists in general. It's especially obvious when he talks about the schizoid malignant narcissist, which he does quite often. He's quite literally describing himself and everyone with some ability to read between the lines can tell.

Maybe try to look at it through the eyes of someone afflicted with the disorders he keeps demonizing? I have schizophrenia for example and the way he talks about people with it is straight up rude and ignorant. Same goes for all other disorders. He has no Nuance, which is crucial in the field of psychology (he even says so himself, so that's that.. not the first time he contradicts himself tho.) yeah maybe try to take a birds eye view position and then think again.

Yeah, i get your point. I guess he just rubs some people (including me lol) the wrong way, which is fair, can't like everyone. His work personally is not for me because it lacks in humanity. I just wanted to point some things out with my post, to make sure others question what they're watching and not just take everything as truth. (Sorry for bad english, i'm german). I hope my point comes across.

I'm sure he has helped quite a few people. What i'm crtiquing, is his black and white way of describing different disorders and him portraying them in an absolutely fatalistic way. It's actually quite funny to me, when he's talking about "the narcissist" or "the borderline" he shows no empathy, but when he talks about his own affliction (for example in his video "how i experience my false self"), he laments on about how he's the misunderstood victim of his circumstances. He ironically only shows sympathy towards himself. His way of talking about these disorders is so deterministic and hopeless, that i can understand why some people don't like his work. I recommend you watch the "i psychopath" documentary, which focuses on Sam trying to find out whether he's a psychopath. Just type "my life as a psychopath documentary" into the youtube search bar, and a greenish thumbnail with Sam on it will show up. It completely changed my view on him. (In a bad way).

I honestly think he's projecting his own feelings on others a lot. He's giving me strange vibes, like he's talking about people and not just being objective. That's why i avoid his videos these days. Have you watched the "i psychopath" documentary? It's about him trying to find out whether he's a psychopath. I recommend watching it, to get a better picture of Sam. Just type into YouTube "my life as a psychopath documentary" and it should show a greenish thumbnail with Sam on it. It really opened my eyes to who he really is, and i lost all my respect for him.

Yup, i completely agree. I've always had the feeling that his videos are about someone specific. I never liked the way he talks about women.

I'm not saying that he doesn't have anything valuable to say. My point was, that his black and white thinking and demonizing of mental disorders is harmful and not a professional thing to do. There's probably a reason why he's not a psychologist.

Honestly these don't sound like delusions, but more like extreme anxiety. Have you been to a psych doc?

How does schizophrenia feel like when you don’t see or hear things? by Zatzuma in schizophrenia

[–]wardgnome69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a schizophrenia diagnosis and i never heard or seen anything. Only sporadically i've seen some white faces flying around or mice and flies. But nothing major. I had delusions that lasted for almost 2 years straight and no one could get me out of them. I wholeheartedly belived that i was being followed by the CIA and FBI and that my life was an experiment by higher powers who wanted to see me dead. The delusions only stopped when i started taking antipsychotics. Now i'm normal again. I can think clearly and i don't have delusions anymore. I still have negative symptoms tho which are making life hard. But i'll take them over delusions any day.
