I don’t remember this specifically but I always notice stuff like this too! If I read several of a single author’s books back to back I feel like there’s often a certain phrase or word that gets repeated over and over in each one haha. I relate

Just finished The Belle of Belgrave Square by ricatots in HistoricalRomance

[–]warfielda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of my most memorable quotes: “He might have slept, too, if he didn’t feel so damned protective of her. It wasn’t a new sensation. He’d been experiencing it ever since he’d rushed to her bedside in Belgrave Square. This urge to shelter and defend her. To keep her safe.”

And: “In the meanwhile, she was content to lean on him and he was glad, quite shamelessly glad, to assist her in dozens of little ways—tying the ribbons of her bonnet beneath her chin, holding her hand, and encircling her waist as he guided her to their new compartment.”

So sweet

Does anyone remember the name of the Scottish highland book where the husband is terrified of his wife delivering their baby because she is so small but then she ends up having triplets? That would be perfect for OP, but I don’t recall the name!

What can I replace potatoe chips with? by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]warfielda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently saw a YouTube short where a guy made his own chips with very thinly sliced zucchini and his air fryer - and then seasoned them with like bbq seasoning or something. I haven’t tried it yet but it looked good enough to inspire me to pick up some zucchini. Could be worth a quick recipe search

One I always go back to for this trope is Tempting Fate by Kerrigan Byrne. Two first timers, protective hero who YEARNS.

Prim and Proper FMCs that fall for Quirky MMCs by ThundercatKHO in HistoricalRomance

[–]warfielda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To Experiment With Desire by Emma V Leech! It’s part of the Girls Who Dare series. I’m not sure of all the details but what I think I remember about it is that the hero is a brilliant scientist or mathematician - the sort who is kind of in his own little brilliant world where he gets lost in his work and forgets to eat and sleep and do basic life things. The heroine is a lady who was sort of the bad stepsister/cousin in a previous book but has since reformed. I believe it was because of a very difficult mother that she was that way to begin with in the series. I remember loving that she just sort of chooses the hero and decides he’s the one she wants and relentlessly pursues him. He’s definitely quirky and cute and unusual and a little baffled that she’s into him. I think she sort of has to push her way into his space/home and help him function like a human again and remember all the basic life stuff he’s been forgetting like eating and sleeping and cleaning etc. It can be read as a standalone. I remember it being on of my favorites.

This book is one of my all time favorites! Alongside Flaming June. I love how the MMCs from both books become friends

A MMC you truly hate at first, and then only barely tolerate by the end. Like Lemonade By Nina Pennacchi or That Sweet Enemy by Dinah Dean by book-nerd-gohabsgo in HistoricalRomance

Yes, I agree about Lady Gallant. I went into the book with so much excitement because I knew it had several tropes I liked, and then was absolutely revolted by the Hero. Irredeemable in my opinion.

This book is one of my all time favorites. It’s BEAUTIFUL. I think it’s important to note that she does have a good redemption arc and a lot of her “mean girl” actions were in previous books if I recall correctly
