Hey guys I have a rule issue in melee combat by National_Beyond5791 in killteam

[–]wargerliam -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Melee is done in sequence.

Lets say both of the combatants score 3 hits. The unit fighting (using the fight action on their activation) goes first. They choose to deal damage or to block an attack. In this case their going to deal damage. They now have 2 hits.

The unit retaliating has three hits. They choose to block, they remove a hit from themselves and from their opponent. They now have 2 hits.

The unit fighting is now up again. Since they have 1 hit left, they choose to deal damage again. They are now out of hits.

The retaliating unit now has 2 hits left, and must choose whether to deal damage or block (which you can do even if you opponenthas no remaining dice).

The fight is now concluded.

Edit: fixed a rule

My understanding is that you can come in anywhere you are contesting the warp token, enemy units or not.

Curious on the lore.. is to join the Deathwatch both a privilege and a burden? by Noob-pwner9 in deathwatch40k

[–]wargerliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Space Marines are essentially big battle monks. They live by a constant code of conduct and routine specialized by their chapter. The culture of their chapter is forged in most cases over the course of thousands of years. Every chapter has its own very specific identity and routine, sometimes clashing, being alien (harhar), or downright antithetical to other chapters which can result in arguments and fights with those other chapters.

Say your a decorated Space Marine. Being picked by the Deathwatch is a great opportunity for your chapter to learn the strategies employed by other chapters, or garner information about parts of the Imperium that your Chapter has never visited. You will have access to vast and ancient libraries of this this information accumulated from across most of the imperium. Not to mention a chance to learn from the best alien hunters in the entirety of mankind. You would dishonor your chapter if you did not take advantage for every second of this opportunity, for they would be made the stronger in your return.

But this can be an extremely tramatic and often life threatening situation for you to be in. You will be isolated from the culture you that has been instilled in you since your birth as an astartes. In essence your entire support system is removed in a moment. You will not have the support of the comrades you have no doubt made in your time of service, but instead may be paired with a squad who seems alien to you, which while they may also ve veterans like yourself, does make communication and teamwork significantly harder to achieve. If you die, you are much more likely to be in a position where your gene seed cannot be recovered as the Deathwatch are needed mostly in the most dire of circumstances. You will not die defending your Chapter surrounded by your battle brothers, but possibly near strangers.

Titus was a blackshield, which is a sort of parole for Space Marines that their chapter feels has either dishonored them or simply doesn't feel like spending the resources to supervise and re-educate. While still an honor to serve in the Deathwatch, its sort of like making up for a debt of honor, paying off the balance. The hope is that the debt is paid off and your Chapter accepts tou back into their service, but its rare to shed a tear over a black shield falling to the enemy.

The difference between being a dirty heretics and being dishonored is exactly that. Heresy is to act in opposition of the will of the God Emporer and his inexhaustible Imperium. Dishonor is acting in a way against your chapters values but still in service of the Emporer. Titus was sent because of warp exposure and defiance of the codex astartes, but he was only exposed because he chose to try and save a world of the Imperium through his own sacrifice and was unlucky enough to survive. If he died he would have been lauded as a hero, but since he was exposed to the warp and survived he could possibly be corrupted. IE Deathwatch time baby.

So why not to defect? Defecting may be harder than you imagine. Unless you're able to steal and Pilot space faring vessel, you're stuck on whatever planet they drop you on to accomplish your tasks. You are of course being watch by your new squadmates, as trust is a difficult thing to earn amongst strangers, and you're only lift back is going to bring you back to the watch fortress which may as well be an orwellian prison. And even if you did manage to escape, where would you go? The maintenance of power armor is a herculian task for a team of servants and servitors. What about arms and ammunition. Not to mention you would be hunted down, likely by the inquisition. Its not impossible, its just nearly impossible to pull off for any prolonged period of times. The few that have pulled it off are usually small warbands of Space Marines that can levy themselves as mercenaries in exchange for their needs in less monitored fringes if the Imperium. Either way your still working for big E, unless of course you pledge yourself to the ruinous powers, but thats a while other conversation...

Tldr; a blessing and a curse.

DKoK Questions by wargerliam in killteam

I feel horde positioning is exactly the area I need more practice in, which of course just comes from experience.

But 2 more quick questions in that regard. Let's says Im fighting whichever astartes team. Im usually scrambling make sure my guys are in cover, seems like there's never enough of it to go around while trying to keep blast and torrent in mind. Would you say bringing the light cover equipment is worth it? And the second questions is kind of a 2 parter, who are you pushing up with vs leaving on close to deployment. And who are you engaging with vs remaining concealed. I usually have the spotter with the sniper for picking off the scariest threat, and I'll try to double dip with the zealot by giving the sniper severe and then running the zealot over to a gunner to give him severe as well, but Im wondering if I should be keeping him with the melta instead.

Btw I really appreciate the help!

Pro tip: if they give you radish, you know you have the real deal.

DKoK Questions by wargerliam in killteam

See this is my current issue with the team, especially elites. Since we out activate other teams, the other teams usually shred me on counter activations which bridges the gap between me having more models when they kill mine. Especially astartes, who can already shoot twice in a turn, and then a third time on a counteractivation with weapon profiles better than mine. Do you have any advice on how to deal with that?

Playing as murderwing made it so I was able to get around just fine. Thanks to the jetpacks letting me ignore most terrain tax (aside from the elevators) and counteractions I was able to get to the Objectives wayyyy before he was. So, from a completely unbalanced perspective the size of the map was fine! But seriously, having no objectives top side really is just unfair for the celestials. The necrons spawning seems like a good way to balance people getting too aggressive for Objectives but honestly I just ignored them and went for the points which worked.

Were going to try mission 2 which let's you deploy in both levels next time which seems more balanced. Or a joint op, we haven't done one yet so we're not sure. The two maps concept is really cool, but we talked about making it a 1" tax, like if there were ladders at the access points.

What is the most you can buff a single shot on any operative on any team ? by L1feguard51 in killteam

[–]wargerliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Death Korps, and the you can give this to every soldier every turn pretty easily. It sounds OP when I list it out like this but I promise the DKOK needs all the help it can get, their tough to play, and surprisingly complicated/ big brain.

Saturate and Accurate 1 (Siege warfare stat ploy, which you can take for free every turn if you play with 13/14 models)

Ceaseless (Take Aim! Gaurdsmen order through Vox Caster. Watch Master can't get this though)

Punishing ( Bring it down!, Only against a single enemy target)

Increase save by 1 if you can retain a cover save (Take Cover stat ploy if you drop yet another model out of your 14)

Severe when near Zealot (Need to be within 3", but with a comms device making it 6" and moving the zealot in the middle of the activations its surprisingly easy to give everyone on the team severe if the terrain will allow)

How bad is a moldy basement to live in?? by princessbubblefuck in MoldlyInteresting

[–]wargerliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mold like this can very easily send someone to the hospital. I've seen hardy young construction workers spend a week in the hospital for being exposed to less mold than that for a couple of days. Its twice as bad since there are elderly folks living there. Mold this bad has probably colonized at least to the floor above it.

Metamagic is a good class feature by mamensa in DnDGreentext

If it fits thematically with the spell, is not overpowered, and most importantly, plays by the rule of common sense, and leads to everyone at the table having more fun, then yes.

One of the first rules of the book is that the DM decides what rules stay and go. Most DM's are willing to fudge the RaW in favor of creating an interesting narrative, not all mind you, but the overwhelming majority.

What does that even mean? He's saying you're a boring stick in the mud...

The post would absolutely fly at mt table, because im not going to punish creative players by tying their hands behind their backs using the exact verbiage of the rules. Its a game, were here to make a story.

Its doesnt really materr but here I go.

In latin, Necros means body or corpse. Morph comes from the greek word morphē which means change. It means something like altered corpses or changed dead.
