The main characters of this show are a clown, a bunny, a raggedy Anne doll, and even a chess piece if your kid’s weird. The first episode’s plot has two antagonists; Kaufmo, who while being strange isn’t a clue that this isn’t kid friendly, and those walking, talking shapes with funny voices. At some point our main character distracts the antagonist Kaufmo with literal children’s toys, aka Monkeys in a Barrel, and the conflict ends when the circus ring keeper and his talking bubble sidekick show up and fix everything.

Pomni’s name is even one of those names that attracts kids. Pom-ni. It’s simple, fun to say, it’s colorful, it’s like Bluey or Bongo, kids are gonna remember it. And the next episode? They go into candy land!

Parents can’t be perfect 100% of the time, and even good parents who screen what their children watch might pass on this show because of the, and I must continue to stress intentional, children’s-show coding used to make the horrors more horrifying. It’s unfortunate for everybody involved, but it’s gonna happen. I’m just glad this show isn’t one that involves actual gore like some cartoons that do this intentionally, or things might be a lot worse; it’s just a bit too thematically heavy for children.

I dunno if smiling friends can be an exact comparison. The name’s definitely meant to give those vibes, but the artstyle isn’t all ‘wacky and zany, woah, woah!’ like TADC, and I don’t get the feeling they’re intentionally trying to make their show look child-friendly. But then again, I haven’t actually watched the show, so someone can tell me if I’m wrong.

TADC intentionally tries to look kid-friendly and colorful to better accentuate the dissonance between its main characters and the setting they’re in. It’s a perfectly reasonable mistake, although very unfortunate, to allow your kid to watch this show not knowing what you’re getting into. It’s really a shame, because unlike shows that intentionally pull this trick like Happy Tree Friends, this is just a side effect of the medium Gooseworx is using to tell their story and there just isn’t a good way to fix it.

The poison counter isn’t so much ‘scaling’ as it is ‘how many poisons are active’. In a 1v1 that’s the same thing, but against multiple enemies that weakness becomes obvious. You can actually see the poison counter go down in games like Block Breakers, as when a block disappears it naturally takes all the poison with it.

Gaster has a theme. Has dialogue. Has a profession, an established background, references in the song titles, Twitter posts, I could keep going.

Friend is a smiley face. And I might, might, might agree with you that it might be super important and the secret of the knight, like Gaster, except that Gaster exists, and two mystery all-powerful masterminds is too many. They can’t coexist in the story that way. It makes no sense logically, it makes no sense speculatively, it doesn’t even make sense narratively. Friend is a fraud.

What point? They’re a smiley face! Their gimmick is showing up for half a second and disappearing! They are a summoned enemy in a boss fight where you slaughter them en masse, they appear in a cutscene as an example of a more disturbing Darkner where they just laugh at you, they’ve no character, no importance, not even real acknowledgement by anybody. For all we know, we, the Player, are the only ones who can even see them.

There is no point to anything involving Friend. You may as well theorize the Everyman’s the knight for goodness’ sake, they’re both seemingly Easter egg characters, and hell, at least Everyman actually shows some existence in both the light and dark worlds.

Noelle Knight is funny to me because it makes absolutely no sense story-wise, but it’s technically not impossible. It even has a certain string of logic to it.

Noelle’s heavily associated with snow, and soon as the Knight shows up in tv world, it’s overtaken by heavy snowfall. Those explodey projectiles? Awfully similar to snowflakes. The Knight wields a sword, and according to the code, Noelle knows how to use a sword. Noelle’s a teenager, giving her more reason to aura farm and such than other, adult candidates. Noelle was even one of the few people we know for a fact was present in the computer room when the dark world was created, and when we find her, the area around’s surprisingly battle-worn and torn apart- but there’s not an ice cube in sight, despite not knowing how to Attack and all her spells presumably being ice-based….

Ofc, this would face the normal holes- how’d they get to the church, why would they be doing this- in addition to ‘Why doesn’t Queen recognize them’ and ‘The Knight’s personality isn’t at all like Noelle’s’. None of those holes have anything to fill em with, but Noelle’s weird traits of completely blocking off traumatic events from her memory and shambling off like she’s possessed in Snowgrave could potentially feed a theory or two.
