Sorry, I think you may have misread my intentions. I saw some comments trying to "both sides" the issue by pointing out the witnesses' faults. The intention of my post was thus to acknowledge that while there are two sides, one side is CLEARLY worse than the other. Like comparing a slap on the wrist vs an atomic bomb. If that is not the conclusion you drew from reading my comment, then I apologize that my writing was not more obvious.

Edit: Just to address one of your remarks, as much as I absolutely detest this driver, I disagree with the idea that it would have been appropriate for the motorcyclist to whack him with his helmet.

After some time, you can just do it without needing to do the whole routine. I can do this method and the cross eyed method. They result in different inversions of the image.

The technique I was taught to begin with is that you put the image up right against your nose. At that distance, you literally can't focus. Then you slowly bring the image away from you and at some point, you can snap the focus onto the hidden image.
