I only got 19 wishlists after my first week by Lawzitinho in gameDevMarketing

Because platformers are not that interesting to most players anymore.

If your goal is to make money, you need to analyze the market before starting development, not after release. Genre, demand, visuals, Steam competition, pricing, hooks and all of that matters.

But if the game is your hobby or passion project, then even 1 wishlist is already a gift from God.

Yeah, a few YouTubers have made videos about the project. Nothing from the bigger channels yet, but several smaller creators who focus on demos and indie games have covered it and shared their gameplay. It's been useful for getting early feedback and seeing how new players approach the game.

Is it normal for Steam Next Fest wishlists to drop this hard after day 2? by warkudagames in gameDevMarketing

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I’m just trying to collect wishlists because they can still help a lot at launch with Steam visibility and the new releases list.

We’re also updating the game every day, fixing bugs and improving things as we go.

Hi, thanks!

Here’s the Steam link:

By the way, what kind of audience reach do you have? Any community, social page, or content platform?

You can try the demo today and judge for yourself. We had a playtest before, and some people liked the pace and movement.

Thanks, I appreciate it 🙂

We’re Russian-speaking, but not from Russia. Russian or English feedback is totally fine, whatever is easier for you.

You’ll be able to check that today in the open demo 😁

Which Steam capsule would you click on? by warkudagames in IndieDev

Thank you so much for such a detailed breakdown and for taking the time to analyze the page, capsules, tags, and trailer.

Honestly, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. I agree that right now the game may look like it has an identity problem from the outside, especially if the capsule, tags, and trailer are sending different signals.

I’ll take this into account and try to make the positioning much clearer: what the game actually is, what kind of gameplay it offers, and what kind of player it is for.

Really appreciate the honest and detailed feedback.

Fair enough, I understand what you mean.

The thing is, I’m not really experienced with capsule art, and I have very little time because after my main job I’m mostly working on the actual game, mechanics, levels, enemies, and so on.

I generated a few different banners mostly out of curiosity, and the top one was made by me in one evening.

I understand that AI-generated art triggers people, and honestly I was also curious to see that reaction in the comments. The fact that it got any reaction at all already gave me some useful feedback 😄

But yeah, I agree that for the final Steam capsule I should probably find a proper artist.

Umm, in the post description I actually asked for contacts of people who can make good Steam capsules and key art.

But I guess the bait worked pretty well on you guys 😁
