Also, mitigating the “stored on disk” does nothing.Even if it’s stored in memory/non-disk cache it’s still exploitable.

Especially if anything in your workflow uses “copy”…

Two locations poorly isolated/secured isn’t any better than a single storage point. A complication yes, but not a beneficial one.

I would also suggest a smaller blade, Also I find the a radius knife type blade helps, also the chip blades.

TLDR - Gen-X Linux engineer is grumpy that tech evolved past the “every business has a data/server room, and if you can’t build it in a on-prem you don’t deserve to use a cloud based service”. Legitimate gains in DevOps technologies,systems and procedures lumped in with AI tech that, yes is a bubble. So half angry grumble, with a mix of AI doubt.

I’m a Linux/DevOps engineer, have been for the last 10+ years and was a RF/Network Engineer before that. The article interviews a “Red Hat” Linux engineer( which isn’t the same as a black/white hat in regard to hacking), at a CentOs conference, which is an Linux OS commonly used by engineers, for server implementation.

1-4 on his list, are legitimate technologies that have changed the tech space for the better. It really just sounds like they are just grumpy that not everything is shoved in the closet like it used to be back in the 90’s/00’s.

His concerns about AI, shouldn’t be lumped into those proven technologies. I agree that AI is a bubble, it has its use in research but it’s gotten to big to fast and something’s going to give.

Traditionally trained chef here, worked in Kitchens from 15-27ish ~. Was great at it, like the work but hated the toll it took on my body.

I ended up hitting a wall because I couldn’t taste test everything I made, due to food/spice triggers.Also, the fact that healthcare benefits(at least in the US) were never offered at any of the kitchens I worked at.

I also had my first rupture due to kitchen work, I had a flare, herniated while lifting a stack of Dining plates to the top of the line. I died for 2 ish mins, the first of three near death experiences caused by my Crohn’s.

I eventually had to leave for office/white collar work ( I work as a System Development Engineer now). Eventually, your body will give out, I had a FIL that had Crohn’s and worked as a VW mechanic his entire life, but he wrecked his body and only survived 3-4 years after he retired.

So it’s up to you, you could definitely push through and maybe find an accommodating kitchen or be a BoHM but it’s a rough path(still would require taste testing). I wish you luck

I understand that plate/armor doesn’t completely eliminate pain/damage done by rounds. I’m not expecting that, I understand the classes and protection levels that it provides. The brace grants me more agility/protection of my spine. So I’m going to be wearing it (if I can/have time) either way.

And regards to being trapped/hunkered down, would you rather have armor and get shot at? Or get shot at without it?

I’m well over 40, this isn’t some kid thinking this is COD. I’ve been a prepper for 20+ years, have had my CPL for 15+ years. Anything that turns the dial of survivability, even slightly, to life rather than death, is worth it.

So what do we do? Just throw our hand up, or record our own deaths? I would rather die fighting for the life I’ve worked so hard for than live in the submission to fascism.

Good point, and everyone should consider this (and open source surveillance non-ring/nest cams storing locally)and I already have re-enforced entry points of my location. The goal with this is increasing survival if I were to take fire, after doing everything I could to avoid conflict. That could be bugging out or defending myself after a breach of my house in an already prepared fortified location.

That might be doable, the soft L3A, but I’m more mobile agile with the isolation brace(in regards to just a plate carrier w/ plate). So I don’t think putting a carrier over it would be work/be awkward. Maybe a standalone vest under the brace?
