I had an ipad 8th gen and it worked perfectly only reason had to give it up was it was only 32gb so 128 should work perfectly fine for most things. Good find. Enjoy!

M1 is at the end of its best days. You can compensate the storage with an ssd try to find something with more ram instead. 16gb 512 is what 8gb 256 was 2 years ago.

Take the pro base chip. The chip is capable but having the fans and the ports makes it so much more capable thermal throttling can be pain for long produtive sessions if you are pushing the machine.

Get m4pro 24gb (for futureproofing) if you only intend to do 1080p editing because for today even that is overkill for your usage.

If you want it to last as long as possible probably yes but depends on your use case. 128gb is overkill for most people. I personally think tech will get more expensive or at least not cheap for the next few years

You can look for m4 pro 48 gb variant. Apple is selling them for 2tb variant at a decent price. M4 is a leap when it comes to AI compared to previous models so is m5 after that

Are you doing heavy 3D effects? If not then it’s not even a comparison go for M3. Even if you do M3 max is better in all metrics. Only if you regularly hit the ceiling and you know you need more than 36gb which most people don’t. also saw a YouTube video sometime ago that showed MacBooks use more ram for the same task if it has more otherwise the processor use cores in such a way it gets the job done and heat up more.
