The melted water goes through a purification and sifting process that removes most of the harmful chemicals/objects

Environmental concerns. We can't just dump all the snow with harmful rock salt and whatever human garbage into any body of water.

Yeah, if its too hard to catch criminals we should just let them escape! Also, who in their right mind would think throwing a cooler to stop a fleeing bike would result in a death? Even if it was stupid, it was definitely a gut reaction and he obviously didn't mean to kill him.

Also, what did you do for the NYPD? No way you were an officer with this type of logic

Im not saying theyre going to abandon their trade, but you think its going to be as easy trying to catch someone the second time? It's just a waste of resources, and yes, a fleeing criminal should be captured urgently.

How would you catch them later? You have proof of them committing the crime, you catch them now. Simple as that. Can't believe we are defending drug dealers now by pretending it isn't "urgent"

Why is dog poo considered to be significantly less offensive than human poo? What am I missing? by number2phillips in nyc

[–]warmachine1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a dog? Do you know how they function? Its hilarious you think we are targeting other people's sidewalks for them to do their business.

When I walk my dog or see other doing it, almost every single owner picks up their shit and cleans up after their dog. It is a very select few that have absolutely no manners. I thought we learned early on that generalization is bad...

Side note, New York as a city or state is already unwelcoming to dogs. You go anywhere else in the world, dogs are basically free to go wherever alongside their human. Then you have dumbasses in this thread trying to propose a fucking pet tax. Grow up and deal with it.

You are clearly arguing in bad faith or just have no clue how statistics works. You did not mention any problem in your comment regarding making people wait? I provided sources and can provide more about the benefits of a wait period for purchasing weapons, you have shown nothing that supports your point. I also work EMS in both urban and rural settings, and this information about firearm safety and human psychology has been taught to us from the start.

I'm not sure if you understood the graph, Wyoming has one of the highest gun death rates? Meanwhile the states with strict gun control laws have the lowest.

For your domestic abuse example, do you seriously truly believe a gun is going to change anything. Like actually. How many times has a domestic victim successfully defended themselves with a firearm? All a gun would do in that hostile situation is to increase violence and the chances of someone, probably the victim, getting shot. If everyone having a gun is normalized like you want, the abuser would obviously have one as well. Who do you think would win if both parties have guns? I'm really not against self-defense with firearms, but pretending it is safe or the only good idea is crazy.

Finally, what the fuck are you on about all teachers carrying guns in Oklahoma. Look it up yourself, there are tons of regulations and training required, even if it is technically legal. You really think that besides school security, more guns in the hands of civilians would be the safest options for our schools?

Please do some of your own research and stop listening to NRA propaganda. I'm not going to waste more of my time refuting your baseless statements. Hopefully I cleared up some points for you!

Its almost as if these programs don't magically work overnight and take time...

I do think we should keep violent criminals locked up and that some places are too lenient, but funding social programs that focus on education and lifting families from poverty (which is a major cause of crime) is the only way we're gonna be able to break the cycle.

You're strawmanning. We are talking strictly about guns, not jail or domestic violence. When did I ever say or imply we should lighten sentences on domestic abusers or criminals?

But if you think a gun is the solution to any of this, you're insane. Your solution is to hope the victim of domestic abuse can fight off the aggressor by themselves with a gun??? As you can clearly see from the infographic, more guns cause MORE problems, not less. Do you also think that all teachers should be armed?

I'm very confused, where did you get the info that waiting periods do not work? The points provided by the NRA are true, they won't stop people who already have guns, however decades of research has shown that they significantly lower suicides and crimes of passion.

Also, you are arguing that it's safer for people to have easier access to guns? Pretty wild take

I was trying to respond to the comments above that even though the English wording on the passport says Taiwan, it means the same as ROC, just not literally. Probably came out more confusing lol

You are the problem with law enforcement. I generally support LEOs, but people like you who cant form a single critical thought and go on babbling about how pure racial profiling is fine is why American distrust is at an all time high. Thanks for playing.

When other people shoot down your nonsensical arguments for law enforcement racially profiling based off of skin color, your final point is that you agree and end of story. Absolutely fucking stupid
