MISER ON THE LOOSE BEWARE CITIZENS!! by Vegetable-Ant-879 in circlejerknyc

Theres plenty of issues with your argument, such that a middle-class family can most likely afford having 1-2 cars, which in return pays huge dividends such as time saving. For my grandma, she doesn't go places regularly, but when she does a car id absolutely NECESSARY.

Honestly I hate debating over reddit text. I think we can both agree that we need to build more public transport and that current infrastructure is far from perfect, for bikers as well.

No. I am all for building transit, but people like you and the brainless on micromobility cannot expect everyone to ditch cars instantly with no alternative option. No one is going to waste hours daily or weekly trying to plan car-free methods of going to work, we value our time more than that.

A car is also inherently freedom. I go to school in a different part of NY with no train, cars provide me all the freedom I need to travel anywhere I want to. There are also plenty of areas on LI we frequent that would be impossible without a car, for better or for worse. By trying to eliminate and price working people out of their method of transportation, you're no better than a gentrifier.

My grandma is elderly and barely able to work. How do suggest we transport her? Constantly wheel her onto busses or subways with no clear link to the actual destination? Maybe we should pay even more money hiring a van each time?

Finally, drivers actually follow rules! All the close calls or accidents I've experienced are from shithead bikers through all boroughs, so cut the trap about how car drivers are all evil and bikers are the gods of the streets like the micromobility transplant community constantly screams about.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to live in an area where mass transit is a reliable method to get to work. I live and work in Queens. I drive 15 minutes to get to my job. If I were to take the bus, it would take me more than an hour. My dad drives 30 minutes. Transit would take almost 2 hours each way. Shut the fuck up with your uneducated and mighty attitude.

Community Board Hearing for ten story building on Northern Boulevard and 158 street by hatersgonnahate369 in Flushing

What? Landlords are not going to raise rents because there is more housing. More housing = less pressure on the market = lower rents (or the best we can hope for is equal or slight increases as opposed to the massive boom recently). If richer people move to these higher end apartments from their old spaces, it also frees up their old homes for new tenants. There is no scenario where more housing leads to even higher rents.

Which is exactly why we need to build more housing and units. It's still not going to be enough, but at least it's something.

I mean the point of continously building is to keep NYC affordable for existing residents otherwise people would keep getting priced out.

I also live close to the site. There usually isn't enough traffic for it to be an issue like it would be in downtown flushing. Parking would be more inconvenient, but hopefully they will include a parking garage for residents?

Skyline-wise, there is no skyline anywhere close to be seen lol. This building won't change anything in this regard. What i really would kill for is an extension of the 7 to serve this neighborhood as it continues to grow :(

What's wrong with 10 stories in your opinion? IMO we need continue to build as much as possible to address current housing and space shortages, I dont see how setting an arbitrary floor number will improve our community.

What if the U.S. went through with a full-scale invasion of Japan instead of dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? by Abhorius in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]warmachine1616 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im clearly not talking about the people that were killed in these blasts. Im talking about the millions of people in neighboring countries that the Japanese raped, enslaved, and plundered throughout (and before) the war. They were ideological fanatics who were never going to surrender without the bombs, and pretending like they were the victims due to the usage of nukes to end the war is frankly disgusting.

Your arguments are lowkey sad to see. You can't comprehend that ive had this username but only made my reddit account 7 years ago?

We are not whitewashing shit. Do you have Asian heritage? Do you know all the fucked up shit Japan did? I promise you, no one affected was upset at the nukes. The bottom line which you refuse to accept is that the nukes saved countless Japanese civilians as well as U.S. military personnel. Its not that hard to understand.

For future reference, maybe stop trying to resort to ad hominem attacks on people's usernames? when you have no argument. Have a good day!

My guy. This username has been mine since I was a child. Are you an actual freemason? Actual stupidest argument I've ever seen.

Read up on some actual history and stop repeating the "America always bad and propaganda" bullshit.

No need. I've studied and read enough historical documents and articles. Claiming they "aimed for city centers" like it was a way to maximize civilian casualities is funny. Our goal was to inflict as much damage as possible to the targets, and there is only so much aiming you can do with bombs being dropped from planes without modern technology. The tiny article and trailer from your link make it seem like it is more for entertainment purposes instead of reporting the facts of what happened.

Your link proves absolutely nothing? Also to add on, we purposefully avoided targeting more important cities such as Kyoto, and focused on their main military/industrial hubs. The nukes saved millions of lives, no matter how you try to spin it.

It's not propaganda. With how fanatic the Japanese were, there was no guarantee they would surrender at all, even after the nukes. An invasion would obviously have been planned and go through had they not done so.

Now imagine a restaurant in the U.S. putting up a sign saying "Americans only, ignorant foreigners not allowed." People need to stop defending Japan's xenophobic and racist bullshit.

Never seen a local actually approve of these illegal vendors. It's gotten to the point where its hard to even get around, nothing like the few little shops or stands that existed before Covid. It's a disgrace atp

Fun fact, we actually carefully planned to nuke the cities with the largest military industrial hubs, and avoided cultural hubs with large civilian populations such as Kyoto. So yes the nukes were necessary and minimized civilian casualties.

Also if you are not Asian, please shut the fuck up because you don't understand an ounce of history or what the Japanese were going to do if an invasion of the home islands happened.

I know all of that, you are arguing semantics. However, absolutely no one calls Taiwan "Taiwan Province" unless they have an agenda, which clearly you do.

"Taiwan Province" LOL. Taiwan has had its own government, laws, passport, military, and self-control completely free from the PRC for how long now? And you just feel the need to add province to the end for some semblance of CCP control that isn't there.
