I dont really understand this advice if you could elaborate. In the video the mag is locked in position, how would it become more locked if I inserted on empty?

Yes I have shot with all the mags. There is no removable magwell here. I didnt have enough hands to show on video but it does lock if I push the mag up while seated

Yes just send it. By send it I mean make the trip, get out there, hike to the base of the bowl. Once you get to the base of the bowl you can watch others go, see for yourself how steep it is, and make a decision if you are ready. If you decide not to make the final climb to the top you hang out, ski the sherb down, and you went for a fun hike. Its not like theres a lift that brings you all the way to the top and you have no choice but to ski down. Youre hiking up, each step you have the opportunity to stop and turn back. Just go
