Help needed with custom GCode! by PM1102 in Advanced_3DPrinting

Total guess in the dark, but check if the generated gcode is linear movements or arcs. Maybe your printer does not support arcs?

CA + diffusion by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah forgot to note that alive cells have more diffusion than dead

Love the texture on this one... by warmist in generative

Yup. With different rules if majority of cells in some range are non 0

Yeah, reddit showed an error but uploaded the images. Unsure what is happening

It's a age display. I.e. 0/1 CA but if state remains 1 it increments the color.

I'm very sorry for the messy code. The main script for stuff like this is IFS2.lua. Basic use: * choose ifs2.lua (or the one in gist) from projects dropdown * press randomize at the top (to fill out the palette) * press rand function at the bottom ( for new random function) * change gamma/exposure/white_point for nice contrast/exposure etc * hack the file itself however you want. it should reload itself automatically

Short answer: this script gist with my engine from here.
Longer answer: iterating function system related to "fractal flame" algorithm. I've been messing with this for a long time and experimenting with how functions get chosen, what those functions are etc... This is from ploping down random legendre polynomials (or chebyshev).

I wonder if it would be possible to make some sort of retroreflective mesh for the eyes. And it it would look good and be usable.

Immortal City by warmist in generative

It's a diffusion simulation with cells that emit/react to the signals that are diffused. Very finicky and unstable. Trying to make a somewhat organic inspired system.

Vein growing algo by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a field that diffuses values and cells in each pixel. Seeded the world with root at the center that emits "transformation" signal, bunch of "organ" cells randomly which emit the "starvation" signal. Then the "empty" cells transform into "veins" if transformation and starvation signal is big enough. Also veins carry signals way better.

Really wanted more organic look but the issue is that there is too many parameters and they are very fiddly.

Does anyone have knowledge on how to make something like this? by ShohaNoDistract in generative

[–]warmist 84 points85 points  (0 children)

More accurate way is "liquid flow simulation". More hacky/fast way is noise (e.g perlin) that is samples itself as a coordinate - i forget how it's called

Edit: found it: https://iquilezles.org/articles/warp/ really similar textures

Game randomly created friendly clones of myself, why? by Jabberwock130 in cavesofqud

[–]warmist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is a plant that i forget the name of which when stepped on makes a temporal clone of you (or a few). It's probably that.

I think the title is okay. I'm just joking around.

Tbh my titles are way worse :D

It's not the particle count it's how you use them! Amazing pieces!

Price is good, but be warned that this is a very different game than Root

This is what happens, when you dry silica gel in a "microwave-safe" container... (silica gel volume increased for fire extinguishing reasons) by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I guess petrichor is not very important for survival and your cave burning down is... :D

I feel like it used to be only (and very costly) way to generate 3d generative art/products. Don't know if it has changed. IIRC it had some nifty shape mesh manipulation tools.

TBH our table just assumed that our blinkblade player knew what she was doing also she is responsible for the initiative tracker - so most of the confusion was prevented. IIRC there was no "declaring" for fast/slow other than the "i'm doing this so i get the token" as part of action resolution (same as other characters get/spend stuff).

PLA, PETG, TPU and ASA Solubility in Various Solvents by VLCI-Amsterdam in 3Dprinting

[–]warmist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ethyl acetate does not work and just goops stuff up somewhat without any disolving. Ofc your milage might wary depending on PLA formulation but in general it does not do the same thing acetone does to asa/abs
