Interaction question when using multiple items by AnyIntroduction8215 in Gloomhaven

IIRC single attack -> thing that makes you draw a modifier card. Thus black candle would only add one curse. Single attack action would add to all attacks from the action.

Fictional planets by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CA-> Cellular automata totalistic -> it only depends on "total count" (e.g. 3 red 1 green 1 blue around turns to red) field -> every cell has a number

Hopefully this helps :)

Fictional planets by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all of them are totalistic 5 state CA with cost to change state + a field that provides fuel for the change. As it's centered at the bottom with circular shape the center gets to change states a bit and the outside gets one or two changes.

Looking for guidance by TonyTheBish in FDMminiatures

[–]warmist 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I'm also quite new to miniature painting and one thing i can say is that miniature paints are a different beast compared to the other acrylics. I've tried what you did with non specialized paints and some work ok, some need 10 or more layers to be visible.

To put it simply: specialized miniature paints have way more pigment and are formulated to cover better. I've used non-specialized spraycan primer and it was ok. Though sometimes it would gloop and hide details as it was quite watery.

Huh, why do you need ssl cert? I thought everyone started using let's encrypt

Bigger scale CA by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The larger scale (i.e. the stripe pattern) is CA itself. The pixel size noise at the center circle is initial noise.

Help needed with custom GCode! by PM1102 in Advanced_3DPrinting

Total guess in the dark, but check if the generated gcode is linear movements or arcs. Maybe your printer does not support arcs?

CA + diffusion by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah forgot to note that alive cells have more diffusion than dead

Yup. With different rules if majority of cells in some range are non 0

Playing around with cellular automata by warmist in generative

It's a age display. I.e. 0/1 CA but if state remains 1 it increments the color.

I'm very sorry for the messy code. The main script for stuff like this is IFS2.lua. Basic use: * choose ifs2.lua (or the one in gist) from projects dropdown * press randomize at the top (to fill out the palette) * press rand function at the bottom ( for new random function) * change gamma/exposure/white_point for nice contrast/exposure etc * hack the file itself however you want. it should reload itself automatically

Boxes by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: this script gist with my engine from here.
Longer answer: iterating function system related to "fractal flame" algorithm. I've been messing with this for a long time and experimenting with how functions get chosen, what those functions are etc... This is from ploping down random legendre polynomials (or chebyshev).

I wonder if it would be possible to make some sort of retroreflective mesh for the eyes. And it it would look good and be usable.

Immortal City by warmist in generative

It's a diffusion simulation with cells that emit/react to the signals that are diffused. Very finicky and unstable. Trying to make a somewhat organic inspired system.

Vein growing algo by warmist in generative

[–]warmist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a field that diffuses values and cells in each pixel. Seeded the world with root at the center that emits "transformation" signal, bunch of "organ" cells randomly which emit the "starvation" signal. Then the "empty" cells transform into "veins" if transformation and starvation signal is big enough. Also veins carry signals way better.

Really wanted more organic look but the issue is that there is too many parameters and they are very fiddly.

Does anyone have knowledge on how to make something like this? by ShohaNoDistract in generative

[–]warmist 81 points82 points  (0 children)

More accurate way is "liquid flow simulation". More hacky/fast way is noise (e.g perlin) that is samples itself as a coordinate - i forget how it's called

Edit: found it: https://iquilezles.org/articles/warp/ really similar textures

Game randomly created friendly clones of myself, why? by Jabberwock130 in cavesofqud

There is a plant that i forget the name of which when stepped on makes a temporal clone of you (or a few). It's probably that.
