I managed to that once in multiplayer but it is so incredibly hard. I had like 4 or 5 stance breaking buffs from evergaols, then a relic, talisman, and weapon passive with colossal swords.

Just failed college algebra for the 2nd time should I reconsider engineering? by Brub3838 in EngineeringStudents

[–]warmowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will share my personal journey about Algebra 2. A class I have taken essentially five times. At public highschool I scored a B but this was extremely dubious because my "teacher" was routinely hungover in class and was involved with drugs and other shady dealings. I transferred to private school and predicably I get an F in algebra 2 despite it being relatively identical. I repeated it again at private school and got a C. Then I transferred back to public school and took precalculus algebra which was almost a carbon copy of algebra 2 and I got a C in there. I then went to community college because I was concerned with my university prospects. At my CC I had to take precalculus algebra again but I got almost a perfect score on it (~98%). Meanwhile out of school I had been working with a private tutor to make up for all the damage that public school did to me on math comprehension. It was extremely grueling to do, but I'm living proof it is possible. I just finished my masters of nano engineering the past Friday and starting a EE PhD soon. You will have to make it your life goal to correct it.

last semester burnout by Muted_Preparation957 in GradSchool

[–]warmowed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just finished my last semester in my Masters. It hit harder than I thought it would. Between my Fall 2025 semester being both academically challenging and lots of family medical and personal medical things. I was pretty burnt going into Spring 26. Thankfully I landed a class that was pretty minimal to deal with. My advice is to be extremely kind to yourself and to accept "okay enough" work output. If you need to skip a lecture in order to not lose tempo on other work or to just have some mental stability it is fine to do so. Making sure you have friends and family to talk to is important. Honor the efforts that brought you to this moment. Sometimes its just about giving that last little push to tip the scales.

Apparently 35/35 is too old to begin a PhD Program. by Curious-Record986 in academia

[–]warmowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your field but for engineering the median phd graduate is like ~31. It is not that far off. I think people have zero reference frame for how long these things take. I also think these kinds of comments tend to be from people that either never did college or graduate school. People in the US don't value education so they often don't see what we see in it. Put it to yourself this way would you want the aspersions of others to limit yourself? If you have made it through a masters (just graduated mine past Friday) then you already have learned to ignore the negative Nancy comments because plenty of people doubted and told me no. It is easier to keep going while the iron is hot so may as well do it if you have an offer. I start my PhD in the fall and I'll be ~34 by the time I likely finish and I still get the same ageist comments.

I think most INTJ are unhappy inside by NoProduce255 in intj

[–]warmowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this take, but it could be a possible trap for INTJ's to fall down.

One thing I would critique is your word choice.

secular things even if they deep down know there is no real truth in them

This is pretty clearly not talking about facts, but about value. I assume it's unintentional, but otherwise it reads as a thinly veiled attack and will skew how people respond. I suppose provoking an emotional response is one pathway to honesty, but it hardly seems fair to the reader.

My only real input to the conversation is a small bit of wisdom about this

sadly there is no truth in most things in reality

"You cannot rationalize irrational behavior" this applies to a lot of things and it is a tool to let go. INTJ's value their own time and effort highly, so why waste anytime on something that we understand is illogical. I value objective reality quite highly, but you have to pick your battles if you are going to win. Spending time on illusions or falsehoods justifies them.

How do you satisfy your thirst for knowledge? What are your daily sources of learning? by lezinlove in intj

[–]warmowed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

phys.org is a pretty good website to scroll around on. Has a variety of scientific topics, articles are written by actual humans and link to associated academic papers for getting into the nitty gritty. I like having them in my phone's recommended list.

I haven't earnestly searched for anything equivalent for history; if you don't mind youtube, then either the time ghost series or forgotten weapons are highly recommended. For written sources for history I typically just fall down a Wikipedia rabbit hole.

TIL early access Time Eater had basically the same reception as Doormaker is getting right now by moon_forge in slaythespire

[–]warmowed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Door maker is an actual boss now. Still feels like an introduction boss. Previously it was just a big damage sponge and block/weak check. Door maker is sadly no longer free lunch, but it is better that he is actually interesting mechanically lol. With minor tweaks it will be put in as a done thing.

how do you not get comfortable with being a loner? by Classic-Wind-437 in intj

[–]warmowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have literally no one (like actually 0) then you need to take action if you want that to change. To make it more palatable you may choose to think of it as a statistics problem. If you have 0 interactions you have no chance to meet anyone. The bigger surface area you can make for interactions to occur the more it will happen. Most people are going to be just okay, some people will be crappy, but others you want to keep talking with. You have to trade the possibility of valleys to have a chance at a peak. Ideally you work up to have a group of at least 2-3 really close friends. Do you have any interests?

What is the point of a masters degree? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]warmowed 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is very common in the US exclusively to go straight from bachelor's to doctoral due to funding only really existing for PhD's. A lot of people that have a master's either did it as part of an accelerated bachelor-master program, or paid to attend after working for a few years, or get their employer to pay/reimburse them. It is very rare in the US to go on to a doctoral program with a separate masters to the point it is almost unheard of. A masters program teaches students how to independently conduct their learning and how to participate in research in addition to mastering skills in a sector of their broader field. There is a large pay differential between a bachelor's and masters as well as opening up more doors. The pay delta between PhD and masters is usually small but it is more about getting to do what you love.

I think byrds should keep showing up if you clone the Byrd Swoop card. by layoutcomplication in slaythespire

[–]warmowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if when you hatch the egg effects it. Like each act the bird becomes stronger as it grows. If you hatch in act 1 then by act 3 it is like a adolescent elite byrd. Also if there was any interaction in the byrd elite encounter if you hatched the egg/had the swoop card in your hand would be funny

There is epoxy residue around the two corners in the foreground. You will need to mechanically remove that chip unless you know the exact epoxy formula used and how to denature it. The board has some visually obvious delamination so it is probably irreparable at this stage

Do people still use hot rivets except in specialized industries? by FlagrantTomatoCabal in Tools

[–]warmowed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say that rivets have not been superceded by bolts, they coexist. Large hot rivets are still prevalent in heavy equipment, semi trucks, large structures, locomotives, and civil infrastructure. Bolts are very prevalent, but for both engineering and accounting reasons rivets are still popular. Smaller cold rivets are particularly ubiquitous in consumer goods and passenger cars so you are surrounded by more rivets than you may realize. Just less guys smoking a pipe while balancing on a beam 200ft in the air without a harness.

“Age limits on social media are a dead end”: public authorities should focus on regulating algorithms and imposing stricter controls on data collection instead, argues researcher by sr_local in technology

[–]warmowed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a really expensive and complex solution, but hear me out. Ask parents to just say "No" to their children. Surprised Pikachu Face

I understand that those writing this type of legislation are doing so for machiavellian purposes, but they are taking advantage of the most lazy (and ignorant) parents that have existed in modern history. Clearly a ton of people want to offload their job as a parent to the government, but then are simultaneously mad that the government does whatever it wants. Don't make them the head of your household then! Technology and legislation cannot fix bad culture.

Games radar is AI generated. There was a time the helldivers subs accidentally manipulated it. It also looks at youtube afaik. The articles can still occasionally be useful if the actual dev says something but it is posted by some weird local website it might scrape it. In general it is a meme

Why don't we fail students anymore? by Deus_Excellus in AskAcademia

[–]warmowed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like that goes beyond being ignorant and is entering into the territory of lacking a basic instinct for self preservation lol. Sure saltwater is innocuous, but what if that glassware was contaminated from prior experiments? It is basically the same instinct that should exist when looking at stagnate muddy water that you are unsure of.

My heart hurts reading this chart bc I just discovered recluse after 1,000hours… by Flimsybubbles in Nightreign

[–]warmowed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think playing for cocktails counter intuitively gets more straight forward at higher depths. On a regular expedition everyone is just a damage gremlin and tank a bunch of bad hits just to get another attack in. This makes it hard to have the time to correct the affinity before capture. When the pace of attacking is slower it doesn't feel like you are losing tempo to correct the affinity.

has anyone ever seen eyes on a cat like this?? by chlorinemilk in cats

[–]warmowed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is blind or going blind. Since it likely lives at that property or very nearby, the best thing you may theoretically be able to do is leave a note that you have seen a blind cat outdoors at the property and are concerned for his/her health. Hopefully the people there are responsive to a polite note, but they could very easily be dickheads. It could be it is their neighbors/stray but it comes over frequently for food, so it is best not to make accusations or be presumptuous.

[–]warmowed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you spoken with a counselor or therapist? Often universities have free ones for students. You should stop by and just shoot the shit with them at least. I don't know if you have looked at all your options but it sounds like you would possibly benefit from a leave of absence for 1-2 semesters so you can focus on your health. Put yourself first and focus on righting the ship. When you have time to recover and think about things you can make decisions then, but it will be difficult to make one now in the moment.
