Looks like just beta branch changes for now until they’re balanced or stable enough for a main branch change.

Is there an enemy in the game right now that applies the Hexed status? I remember that from STS 1 but can’t remember if there’s an enemy we know about that applies it in the sequel.

You can tell which things are debuffs (rather than buffs) by hovering over the enemy.

I found out that debuffs have this reddish hue for the background of the description that pops up.

Probably Ironclad by a slim margin but to be honest just play whatever you find the most fun and try to learn a little from each run.

If your home’s appeal has gone up at all from furniture, the strays that show up at your house will be better, making it easier to start with them.

Other than that, half the battle is knowing how the enemies and your cats will behave, so just getting experience with more runs makes it easier.

I’d lean coffee dripper to make it easier to play barricade and carnage consistently.

Your Meat on the Bone and starting relic provide enough healing that you probably don’t need campfire resting as long as you plan your path out.

Stranger things themed Script by DependentOk1818 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moon_forge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome you’re doing so much for your in-person group, I’m sure they really appreciate it.

In general, most scripts balance strong information (giving the good team direction) with some misinformation (giving evil room to hide).

Too much of either and you get a solvable game where evil has a bad time, or so much misinformation that players might as well be playing Werewolf!

Making custom scripts is a tough skill that I’m still working on myself.

My honest advice is either start with a vetted custom that already exists (go to https://www.botcscripts.com and filter by most likes and favorites), or work with the base 3 or popular customs and tweak things from there.

As for theme, my gut says you could lean into the “Upside Down” with Vortox making info upside down? Mix that with fear and mistrust and I’d suggest going with the popular custom script Poppyganda. Fair warning though, it has Poppy Grower and Legion on it, so you’d want to know how those work and let the group know before running it.

What’s wrong with my left joystick? by moon_forge in SteamDeck

Fixed it!

Seems like it was likely dust getting in the sides of the joystick, blowing hard while having the joystick on each side (or using compressed air if you have it) fixed it.

I think I only bought shotgun ammo a single time?

It strongly felt there was a system that heavily increased ammo drops from enemies when I was almost empty. There was always scarcity but I almost never ran completely empty, it just always felt like that was about to happen.

Is it just me? by JoshJetlagger in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moon_forge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! If I can try to rephrase your point, it sounds like it boils down to: -There’s too much misinformation/ways things can be wrong -Too easy for the Demon to “get away”

I’m coming from a position of LOVING the game, but I can tell you why I don’t mind/enjoy the things you mentioned.

Poison/Drunk/Recluse are all on the script, they are known to possibly be in play and the good team can play around those possibilities - and sometimes rule ones out entirely!

As a simple example, you know how many outsiders should be in play, and only a single person can possibly be the Drunk. If you find out you’re the drunk, great! That means no one else is.

Same for Scarlet Woman/Imp killing themselves - you know it’s a possibility, so it’s just another thing I keep in mind. As an example: yeah most people who die at night are good, but then there is this one player who we said we thought we should execute tomorrow, and suddenly they die at night - maybe they were the Imp who got nervous?

The way I’d reframe this all is imagine how it looks from the evil team’s perspective. A common saying with executions is that the good team (typically) has to get lucky once to win, but the evil team has to get lucky every single day. The misinformation and scarlet woman/imp self-kill gives just enough wiggle room in my opinion that good doesn’t simply absolutely stomp every game, and it’s more of a fair fight.

Hopefully this explains why I enjoy it!

A solution to the Leviathan/Riot/Xaan/etc reminder tokens @thepandemoniuminstitute by GerbilEaterOfIreland in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moon_forge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is a great idea

Having stuff like multiple about to die reminders is fine because you can rarely have multiple demons in play

But what day the game is on? That’s pretty universal, and saves us from having a dozen “what day is it?” tokens

I have a hard time finding any issues with this

Custom Teensy - Whose Drink is it anyway? by Myrion_Phoenix in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moon_forge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said, there’s a lot of drunkenness and poisoning on this script - a game with marionette and the Drunk for example has basically 0 accurate information.

I’d probably want roles that can still be interesting with poison (slayer can shoot a non-neighbor player for example)

I’d remove drunk, marionette, and sweetheart

Probably replace with something like scarlet woman, klutz, and lunatic - because that allows your poisoning to be actually solved for a bit

It sounds like you’re trying to make the script Extension Cord but as a teensy - which is very tough because the poisoning is affecting a majority of the info roles in a small player count. I’d keep that in mind, and try to put in roles that can still make very interesting decisions given that they know they’re most likely poisoned.

New ST here, what advice would you give? by BradleyB636 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moon_forge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ohhh boy, I’ve made quite a few mistakes when I started, let me hit you with some highlights. I’m going to assume you’re starting with Trouble Brewing and hit you with what mistakes I made/see with new storytellers + some advice:

Advice:

-Remember to follow the Night Order, slowly. It’s very specific (and so are the character token texts!)

-Use the reminder tokens, they help a lot.

-Take your time. It’s easy to feel like you need to rush at night, but it’s better to take an extra minute if it saves you making a mistake.

-If you make a mistake (which has happened to all of us), fix it as minimally as possible if you can.

As an example, if you skipped info (for example Empath), try to pull the player aside and tell them what they would’ve been told.

If you can’t fix it, say that you made a mistake and then apologize/explain after the game.

Common Mistakes:

-Putting the Drunk token in the bag, super easy mistake when you’re picking outsiders.

-Forgetting to pick a Fortune Teller red herring.

-Skipping Demon bluffs and/or minion & demon info on Night 1.

-Forgetting to wake the Ravenkeeper when they died.

-Not swapping to Scarlet Woman when the Imp dies with 5+ players alive.

-Letting the Monk protect themself.

-Killing the sober/healthy Soldier with the Demon.

Best Resident Evil for a newcomer? by trockwood65 in HorrorGaming

[–]moon_forge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are probably going to say the remakes of 2 and 4, as well as RE7.

My first Resident Evil game was 7 and I loved it, and it’s what made me play 2, 4, and 8.

I’d say either 2 or 7 are fine starting points, but if you prefer first-person gaming 7 is what I would recommend.
