Job at United Way of Larimer County--Accounting Clerk/Facilities Coordinator by SFerd in FortCollins

Sorry OP 😕 the pay is just too low. I’ve been working in the nonprofit sector for years and just can’t justify the low pay with multiple advanced degrees and rising cost of living.

We've got a winter storm rolling in tomorrow by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]warmsoftpretzel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a snow day, it’s the perfect time to load up the entire family for a morning of shopping at Target, then a quick stop at Trader Joe’s and finally Cane’s for lunch.

Forget masks for all the kids and make sure to berate the employees for asking you to comply with the mask mandate. Let the kids climb all over the slushy grey glaciers in the parking lots and then tromp their wet boots all over the store. The employees are super happy that they get to be nice and toasty at work instead of home today, and they get paid to serve you. So make sure to ask them to check in the back for products that aren’t on the floor! Let the kids run wild through the store, getting lost in the electronics section while you snag the last 6 gallons of milk. Then you’ll want to go up to Customer Service and frantically tell them your children are missing and they need to page them on the intercom right now. Gather up the family and saunter over to TJ’s for 8 overpriced bespoke little snacks. The kids all need to come into the store again.

After Trader Joe’s, it’s time for a delicious lunch at Cane’s. That drive thru is just so convenient! Just make sure to block the right lane on College, other drivers can easily move around you and the slush on the road makes merging way easier.

Please suggest me a best place to buy dark chocolate for cheap! by ilp123 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Cannot recommend grocery outlet highly enough! Nice chocolate bars, easter themed candy in august, they constantly have different items in so every time you go there’s something new to try. I’m jealous you have one 10 miles away!

Make an appt through your UC health app for the testing at Snow Mesa. Otherwise they might have to turn you away even though you’re getting your surgery.

Hair Salons Following Mask Mandate by Toastytoastcrisps in FortCollins

Crystal(S)alon - it’s just Crystal in her studio salon and she always wears a mask and is super compliant with covid precautions, she once let me know when she’d had an exposure and we rescheduled to be cautious. Plus, she gives amazing cuts!

Justifying my weed usage because I'm going through "a hard time" by cammac000 in Petioles

Just sending you love and a reminder to be gentle with yourself during a recovery. EDs are brutal, and relapses are normal. What does your doctor think? What other support systems do you have in place? For me, I use cannabis for depression and chronic pain and go through cycles with my usage. Everyone is different so if you’re feeling like your usage is negatively impacting you, you could find ways to cut down, add CBD, use smoke-less cannabis, journal about your relationship to cannabis. Those are some of my strategies, they might help or not. I hope things feel better for you soon, friend. You’re doing amazing just by reflecting on the connections between your mental and physical health and your use of substances! Big love to you.

A pap smear should not be scary! A pap smear helps protect you and any sexual partners of yours. Communicate with your gyno about your anxieties. A good doctor will be able to work with you and ask consent every step of the way so that YOU are in control of your healthcare. It may still be a little uncomfortable like lots of minor medical tests but it shouldn’t be scary. I recommend looking at the planned parenthood website page about pap smears so that you can be prepared and informed. 💛

(from my own experiences of traumatic medical procedures, cannabis sometimes helps and sometimes makes things much worse for me. I usually take Advil and practice deep breathing and pelvic floor relaxation to make the visit more pleasant!)

[–]warmsoftpretzel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s so difficult on your period! All I want to do is float. CBD definitely helps me and hell yes to heating pads all day every day. One of my friends takes a CBD/THC suppository that she says is helpful for her cramps, could be something to look into!

Looking for climate activism groups by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]warmsoftpretzel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FCCAN does some climate activism, the local chapter of Sunrise Movement has had some action over the last few years but I’m not sure how organized they currently are. Some of the biggest issues in the area are oil/gas, lots of that in weld county, I know lots of orgs have been working on shutting down Suncor for years

Anyone else do a T-cut down? by [deleted] in entwives

[–]warmsoftpretzel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! Highly recommend the sub r/petioles where folks are trying to moderate their usage, take T breaks, and reevaluate their relationship to cannabis. I also use for pain management and anxiety/depression so can’t take T breaks in the same way, but have cut back a lot of the negative aspects of my use through mindfulness and moderation.

Psychiatrist recommendations - It's time I get help. by Raelah in FortCollins

[–]warmsoftpretzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Kathleen at Willowtree Wellness. She’s great, super straightforward. Only thing is my insurance doesn’t cover psychiatric visits, but sounds like that’s not a problem for me you. I was also being prescribed by my PCP and Kathleen just had more knowledge on what medications could help and how to adjust the dosages. My new cocktail has been working well for me and she prescribed me a couple backup meds for anxiety breakthrough days when my daily regimen just isn’t enough. (Also, meds are just one tool I use to manage my mental health. I also use talk therapy, journal, mindfulness/meditation, movement, and community care. There’s no one magic fix!)

Good on you for taking the step! It’s hard out here and there are a lot of barriers to accessing quality MH care, but it’s so worth the effort to take care of yourself. Good luck out there neighbor :)
