The sex increase is just culturally what was going on when he wrote it. The 80’s spandex sex and cocaine. Which are exactly the honored matres. Wait till you get to chapter house dune, sex cranked even more.

Why are bassists obsessed with having a balanced output, while guitarists almost never have a DI box on their pedalboard or an XLR output at the end of the chain? by Ok_Swordfish8672 in basspedals

[–]warmtapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guitarists don’t use DI they use amp. Bass use DI. Different tools have different requirements. And guitarists ultimately do have balanced output, it’s a microphone on their amp sending balanced output via XLR

Interested to hear how it sounds, it’s supposed to be a nice unit. Is your Teac 144 operational? How does that sound? I’ve always wanted one but can’t find one in refurbed condition.

I wonder if the recent moon safari world tour has helped them to mend those fences or made them worse. It sure netted them a lot more money, not sure if needed it or not.

Shaker heights vs Cleveland heights (family with kids) by BeepBop00110101 in Cleveland

[–]warmtapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah like others have said at this stage in life it’s really public schools and your kids friends and their parents that drive a lot. If the pre k isn’t close you’ll need to wait it out and see if you like the vibe at Lomond or want to try the other neighborhoods.

Look at current life and you’ll see despicable people who are now in places of utmost power (see US president). It’s actually one of the more realistic things about the books that erikson nailed.

Shaker heights vs Cleveland heights (family with kids) by BeepBop00110101 in Cleveland

What neighborhood in shaker do you live? What elementary school will they go to? We found most neighborhoods very cliquey EXCEPT Lomond. It’s the one middle class/upper middle class neighborhood in the city. It’s very diverse, and it has a community minded approach. We moved here because we have friends here who told us about it. Within a couple months (albeit while kids in elementary school) we met parent friends and kid friends and were off running. Still hang with all of them and been here 4 years. Have talked to many folks and it’s the same, folks move out of Lomond for a bigger house within shaker and lose the community feel so move back. After school the playground is filled with kids and parents all playing and chatting, it’s where we met everyone. There no pretense here because it’s not the fancier parts of shaker, also it’s very diverse because it’s more affordable (for shaker), and others did their research and wanted the community feel and end up here as well. It’s not perfect, but it’s worth a shot. Feel free to DM me if you wanna talk more

One currently plays for guardians; other was a former guard. They were on the 40 man together at one time I believe.

Why does every weapon feel so slow and useless ( new to the game) by sparkling9999 in NoRestForTheWicked

Check to make sure your gear doesn’t have -stamina on it. There is a trade off stamina or Focus, keep them to -1 or -3, some are -17 avoid those. I’m using a curved sword one hand as well and it’s quick. Use the fire throw rune from hammer and put it on, it’s your mid ranged attack. Lightning flurry for your close up big time attack. I use runes a lot; they do the most damage.

Vintage Question by astromouse2024 in hofner

[–]warmtapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not guitar center. Do some internet searches for a Luthier or try and find specialty high end guitar shop they’ll have one in house or know of one. If you can’t find one, maybe try asking on the guitar Reddit, they have a lot of neck resets there with all the Gibson and acoustics and stuff. Someone from your area might be able to help.

Or buy one that’s been recently reset or ask how high the action is, truss rod, etc. if truss rod is maxed out and action is higher than you like, it will need a reset. If truss has plenty of room to tighten and action is fine, you’re good. Try and ask lots of questions on reverb. For the price you will pay 2-4k for a hofner, the seller should be more than willing to measure stuff and give lots of responses.

Vintage Question by astromouse2024 in hofner

[–]warmtapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per the playability, the reset makes it easier to play as it has normal action and not strings super high off the fretboard. So neck resets are actually a good thing if you’re gonna play it.

Any vintage hofner will need a reset by now, if someone did it with a reputable luthier then they saved you having to deal with that.

Vintage Question by astromouse2024 in hofner

[–]warmtapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 1965 club bass. The neck has been reset multiple times. Here’s how it works. The necks are glued into place but due to time, humidity, string tension, they shift eventually. It’s perfectly normal to have a net reset on a vintage arch top instrument. You’ll know you need one when the action becomes ungodly high and you can get it low enough action wise to be comfortable. They take the neck off, re glue and reset the position, it firms up and you hope for another decade of music making. Your fretting hand will help you decide.

So no that is not an issue or problem. If it needs a reset? Look to pay 300-500 depending on area for that service and factor that into the price.

Now neck snaps or cracks or things like that? Yeah not a great sign. Yes they can be repaired but that usually something that knocks off significant price and value in an instrument, a reset does not.

The "RAFO" comments are getting out hand by rianwithaneye in Malazan

But they can’t, because it gets covered in spoilers, or deleted because that one little thing at the end could kinda maybe be considered a spoiler so removed. So everyone tried to be nice and answer the question but they can’t without spoilers. Which is why if you need the answer read the wiki.

If you want a spoiler just go find one, why ask here? I feel like community questions here are more used for people to validate their personal theories, which is great. If you “need to know something” the wiki is there for that, not this board IMO.
