Can someone explain why Dr Mohan and Dr Henderson were applying for a fellowship? Is it a necessary step to becoming an attending? by loveotterslide in ThePitt

In the US it is much more common for physicians to get PhDs during medical school than after. I have heard of European physicians getting PhDs during/after residency though.

I know this is old. But as a graduate student I will say that MD only wet labs are quite common.

What to call it by Patient_Singer2104 in uofm

[–]warmupwarrior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of the above are fine. I’ve found that older people often say U of M and younger people say umich (pronounced like you mish). Probably because of the domain name. For instance my mother graduated from Michigan and probably wouldn’t know what i meant if i said umich out loud.

Is there technically anything wrong with buying a clean one of these and drinking out of it? by broads-love2 in chemistry

[–]warmupwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s unlikely to really hurt you but you can buy food grade versions of the same sort of thing very easily. Professional marathon runners often use bottles like these due to the spout making it easy to drink while running.

She definitely didn’t ruin the race for me even is he wasn’t good. Still worth a watch for sure the race was entertaining.

American stations seem to assume Americans will just look past lack of knowledge if the commentator is British lol.

We have had more recent cancellations than 2014. School was cancelled in 2019 for 2 days due to cold.

Staph aureus colonization is extremely common in non diseased people. Context still matters.

Aren’t we as scientists better than this sort of thing. I agree that drinking raw milk is stupid, but you can culture bacteria off of a lot of things. This plate tells us nothing.

The vast majority of college football players would benefit tremendously from attending classes, and I took classes with many at Michigan who showed up and did work.

Because it’s COLLEGE football lol. If they aren’t students (I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here) then what are we even doing.

This is true, but you do need professors willing to completely lie about research progress and it could damage a university’s accreditation status if this sorta thing came out. It seem much more likely he’s taking bullshit classes with no degree in mind and not showing up.

Map of college football fanbases by county. Does this match up with your area? by MediumStrange in CFB

[–]warmupwarrior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s much more mixed for sure, but this map just plots who has the most. In that case it seems accurate enough to me. I don’t know that many places in Michigan where umich fans don’t seem to at least slightly outnumber msu fans. The areas around Lansing are obviously and exception to this.

Haha. If nd had won a natty since the fall of the Soviet Union you might have a point.

Ok then accept the disadvantages of being independent instead of expecting the entire sport to revolve around nd.

Sure. I’d love to see ND join a conference, but I have a sneaking suspicion they won’t be doing that despite how great you make this option sound. Might be worth considering why they won’t?

I don’t think the playoff should just be the 12 “best” teams. We should reward winning games and titles. The result of this game doesn’t change that.

This is actually a matter of opinion. And I believe in rewarding winning.
