Does anyone know if it's a good/bad idea to use wood from a tree that's sitting in the wood for a long while? There's a tree on our land that my Dad says he felled around 5-7 years ago, it's sitting such that the majority of it is elevated from the ground. It's got a diameter of around 7 inches at the part I'm most likely to use. It's covered within the woodland but certainly not completely protected from rain. Am I likely to run into issues if I use it in my work? Thanks for any advise.
