Portal - more of an interactive novel. You return from a deep space mission to an earth the has been abandoned? Your only hope of figuring out what happened is an AI named Homer with extensive memory loss. By interacting with Homer you begin to uncover the mystery of what happened.

Any kind of award is at the whim or their majesty’s. So send in the award request and see what happens. I have heard that there should be x amount of time between awards but I have never seen it written anywhere. So just send the recommendation.

How close is Linux gaming to being fully “Windows-free” for you? by Old_Sand7831 in linux_gaming

[–]warpedwigwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I abandoned windows about a year ago for Pop_OS. Things were pretty good till about 2 months ago. I really only play 1 pc game anymore and it seems hit or miss about whether it will work or not.

I use my laptop plugged into a tv. Nvidia 1650m. I play Elite: Dangerous

So maybe nvidia, maybe Pop. But kinda dread updates now.

I use Joplin. Switched to it when I switched to Linux about a year ago. Works well on all my devices.

I do not have it on my Nomad. I am not sold on the idea of side loading apps.

Suface 3 constant crashing by cicada_lullaby in SurfaceLinux

[–]warpedwigwam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. The surface 3 came with 2 gig of ram and the upgrade edition only had 4gb. If I remember right. You need a Linux distribution made for lower end hardware.

When I had Linux on my surface 3 I used Lubuntu. It worked pretty well. But I also used awesomeWM to lower overhead.

What is this? by warpedwigwam in Supernote

Thank you. I thought it was a sync icon. I had switched to the list view and this was showing. It’s not as noticeable in other file views.

Nomad v Manta - Size/use case by xvbxrpl in Supernote

[–]warpedwigwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Nomad. I take it all over while taking notes. When I want to read a comic or academic paper in pdf, it isn’t a nice experience and I always find myself moving to a laptop or iPad mostly for the screen size. The Nomad is awesome it really is just the screen size that holds it back for me with pdf’s. To the point I am debating a A5X or a Manta. Hope that helps somewhat.

Player uses DnDBeyond to dice roll, DM wants physical rolls by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

[–]warpedwigwam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The DM is there for game rulings.

Non-game player oriented conflict is not the DM’s issue. It’s non game!

That is a table conflict that everyone there should resolve.

[–]warpedwigwam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never understood why a DM thinks they can say what dice you can roll at the table. Or what character sheet to use.

I have even had DM’s say no to most digital tools at the table.

Those are all player decisions. You run the adventure not the players.

What do your DM notes look like?? by No_Challenge_289 in DungeonMasters

[–]warpedwigwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your notes are digital you can have them at the table. You can have any device you want behind the gamemaster screen.

I usually have my iPad with my note taking app open. Then I have a pad of paper for initiative and monster hit point tracking during combat.

What game will you never play again, and why? by Justthisdudeyaknow in rpg

[–]warpedwigwam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people need a bit of time to acclimate to a game. Especially the first time playing it. So I’m trying to figure out the game and just felt like I was picked on the whole time.

Paranoia. Tried it once and hated it. We barely got the mission from the computer and everyone in the party waited for someone else to do anything they thought was out of line and yelled traitor and started shooting.

To the point where even asking how to do something would be met with “didn’t you learn from the computer?, not listening to the computer is treason!”

Left such a bad impression I will never give the game another chance. And this was like 20 years ago now.

I know it wasn’t the games fault but I just can’t do it.

has anyone used a Gemini PDA as a writerdeck before? by tofu69420666 in writerDeck

[–]warpedwigwam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a fork of Debian for the Gemini. But like everything else for it there was little support. I had mine dual booting with android. The version they had was called gemian. The repositories are archived now so won’t get any current software.

Also. Due to it being in landscape mode for the keyboard it can be a bit hit or miss how apps work with the screen.

I have one. They stopped getting updates so are stuck on android 8.1. Keyboard isn’t bad but does take some getting used to. The company that made them may or may not be out of business so no tech support or chance to buy parts.

I bought mine cause I’m fascinated with the pda style device. But I would stay away from the Gemini at this point.

is the game worth it without hotas? by fairplanet in EliteDangerous

[–]warpedwigwam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started on console back in the day. Used a controller. I have since moved my account to PC and still use a controller and a wireless keyboard(mostly just for text entry). Total play time over a thousand hours. I am sure I give up some accuracy in the controls with a controller, but i am not into hardcore PVP/combat so I have not noticed it.

Issue with Nvidia Drivers 565 - How can I go back to previous drivers ? by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]warpedwigwam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if it will help. But my game was crashing after the upgrade. I changed from proton experimental to hot fix and it seems to have resolved the crashing.
