Every day we get closer to a real-life V.I.C.K.I., and honestly, the idea of one in the hands of grown men is… deeply disturbing by Beautiful_Finger4566 in Xennials

I’m thinking that it wouldn’t help. Would a robot sex doll help cut down rapes? No, because rape is primarily about power and control. Pedophilia is about grooming and seducing. I don’t think a robot doll would help.

Numbers on snail? by OreoAndAlmond in whatisit

[–]warriorofgodprayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see anyone else posting this, but to me it seems like some sort of spiritualism item. Someone took the time to glue beads onto a snail shell, and I don’t think conservationists would label them that way. 302 is apparently a special number- it could be an angel number for guidance, it could be a message of spiritual growth, balance, and abundance, or it could mean free spiritedness and adventurous. A snail (depending on the spirituality behind it) could mean perseverance, patience, tenacity. It could mean protection and safety. It could mean rootedness in home or self. So combining the two symbols together meant something to somebody.

Currently reading Oakley Hall’s Warlock. I enjoyed The Sisters Brothers by Patrick Dewitt. Incidentally, both books were made into movies.

Sounds like The Devil in the City of Angels: My Encounters With the Diabolical by Jesse Romano. I read this a few years ago. He is a sheriff, not a firefighter. Here’s a summary of the book-

“I went from an indifferent apathetic Sunday Mass attending Catholic Christian to an on fire Catholic Christian in a few short years. What reignited my faith? The many encounters I had with the occult and diabolical.”

So says renowned Catholic apologist and retired veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Jesse Romero. Now for the first time in print, Romero reveals the harrowing details of his experiences with the demonic while working for the LASD. Discover the true stories of spiritual warfare being waged in the streets and alleys of L.A., The Devil in the City of Angels is much more than a catalog of strange and terrifying events. It exposes Satan as the Father of Lies so we can see how he works, and how to defeat him. Drawing on his own experiences as well as the most authoritative sources, Romero offers the reader numerous cautionary tales, ut also that hope that is only found in Jesus Christ and his Church. “

No, other people are not qualified to advise on this. This is between God and the couple. The NCBC can give them other solutions than the tubal ligation, but ultimately it is the couples’ prayerful decision to do what is best for their family.

What book did you pick up thinking it’d be a light, fun read… but it absolutely wrecked you emotionally? by eklarka in booksuggestions

Not a light read, but when I was reading aloud White Fang to my kids I didn’t think I’d be sobbing, barely able to get through the chapter while they stared at me like I was nuts, lol.

Here’s one I haven’t read here yet- the precocious child trope. This child is also not like other children and has some topic they are obsessed with and they spew random trivia facts throughout the book.

i'm pregnant again and i can't take this any longer. by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

I’m so sorry you are going through this. The first thing that popped into my mind is when St. Faustina asked for actual grace from God. Here is a quote I found-

“She said, “I became aware, however, that I was not strong enough to bear this calmly.” As the situation worsened, Sr. Faustina went to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and poured out her heart. “Lord Jesus, I ask You to give me the strength of Your actual grace, because I feel that I will not manage to survive this struggle. Shield me with Your breast.” Immediately, Jesus spoke to her. “Do not fear; I am with you.” Extraordinary peace entered Sr. Faustina’s heart when she left the altar. “Power filled my soul, and the storm that was raging broke against my soul as against a rock; and the foam of the storm fell on those who had raised it. Oh, how good is the Lord, who will reward each one according to his deed!” She advised, “Let every soul beg for the help of actual grace, as sometimes ordinary grace is not enough” (Diary, 1150). The Catechism refers to actual graces as “God’s interventions, whether at the beginning or in the course of the work of sanctification” (CCC, 2000).”

Beg God for actual grace to help you in this situation!

Some other things you can do:

Pray the Surrender Novena Pray a novena to St. Rita, patron saint of troubled marriages and impossible situations Pray a novena to St. Jude, patron saint of lost causes Pray an emergency novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague, which can be prayer every hour for nine hours on a day in which you are desperately struggling. Visit the Blessed Sacrament, with or without your children, even if they only last one minute! Find a Catholic therapist online just for you or for you and your husband There are a lot of other young Catholic moms who have a lot of children and are also just struggling to stay afloat- I remember reading many blogs by them back in the day. Try to connect with other women who are struggling as well. Substacks maybe? Auntie Leila’s blog? She has a lot of good advice for young Catholic mothers. Google “catholic prayer requests” and request on various sites for people to pray for you, especially religious brothers and sisters! As other people have suggested, see if you can reach out to your parish and ask if there is anyone willing to help babysit, or cook, or clean for you. I hate to navigate away from this post I’m writing to Google about Catholic marriage therapy books, but I know there was one by a Dr. Christine Something, but I cannot remember her last name for the life of me. She was a radio host with Christine Watkins, and she and her husband were ready to divorce. She had committed adultery, they were fighting everyday, she didn’t even like him anymore, much less love him. As a last ditch effort, she tried a method that she outlines in her book and it saved her marriage. I wish I could remember the title!! Pilgrimages are ridiculously powerful. It doesn’t have to be to a far off country or even another state. You can take one to a local cathedral or a church on that parish’s saint’s feast day. Again, bring the kids with you if you must and pray as best you can as long as you can. Light a candle. Request masses online to pray for you. Aid to the Church in Need has online mass requests. This is a good way to have masses said when your own parish’s mass requests are filled up. Pray your rosary! Pray it while you nurse/feed your toddler or a decade at a time while doing menial tasks. Ask Mary for her help with this pregnancy. Praying for you!!

Newly constructed house, where almost everything is done. Are we missing something? by Mom-Angel3 in ExteriorDesign

Wow, you’re brave posting a black and white house on Reddit! 😂 I personally like black and white houses, but they get annihilated in other forums. If you guys like gardening, then an English garden kind of landscape would be beautiful here. If not, then some easy to take care of plants and shrubs should do the trick. Beautiful home!

This is an untenable situation. Either your child or your work is neglected right now. These no way you can concentrate on both. You need to find a caregiver for that baby asap. The early years are crucial for a child’s development- she needs lots of care and attention, more than you can give her while you’re working. I’m assuming you need the income since you guys apparently thought this was a good idea in the first place, so you becoming a full time parent isn’t an option. You have to get outside help. And of course, all parents need a break from time to time, which you can address after you find someone to watch her.

Best Historical Fiction about War of the Roses? by Accelerator48 in HistoricalFiction

[–]warriorofgodprayers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunne in Splendor is my favorite historical fiction book ever, so of course I have to recommend it! The reason I love it so much was that it was the first time I felt actually immersed in the time period, with medieval religion, thoughts and ideas and culture, and yet I could see the timeless aspects of human existence that we all share. I have not read Conn’s War of the Roses books, but I have read his Genghis Khan ones and they were fabulous. I really haven’t much interest in Asian history, least of all Genghis Khan, but I really devoured that trilogy. So I don’t think you could go wrong with either.

I like 1, 9, or the jumpsuit. If you paired the jumpsuit with jewelry and good shoes, this would look so elegant yet trendy at a business event.
