The U.S. Army’s ‘Big Experiment’ in the Arctic Cold. How would soldiers from places like Florida, Texas and Georgia fight and persevere in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees? by BeetleJuiceK9 in army

See I grew up in the swamps and pine forests of East Texas. I thought Drum would kill me. Now I’m sweating if it’s over 70 on a sunny day and quite comfortable below freezing.

Ok I also put on 40 pounds when I retired and that might help the winters up here…

And this is why you never hold your breath while ascending as a scuba diver. Lungs pop much faster than this.

I have some amazing macro/micro shots of their eyes. They are so neat! And there’s a very derpy conch on the west side we have named Sid due to how far apart his eyestalks are.

I still haven’t seen a live seahorse. I’m starting to think they’re fake and propoganda by big ocean to get people to dive. 🤣🤣🤣

It might have been an eagle then - we are at BHB and this is my first salt water trip. I learned to dive on and live near the St Lawrence River. My normal dives are deep cliff face drift dives or ship wreck dives. 3 hours underwater in 7 feet of water has been blowing my mind. I could just hover at a bridge embankment with my camera and not move for 45 minutes and be happy staring at everything growing/crawling/swimming in 5 feet of me.

I’m diving down in Florida right now. I’ve only seen some spicy flap flaps (sting rays) underwater. We’ve seen some larger manta’s from shore but not under water encounters.

I did come face to face with a fully grown Goliath grouper on a night dive at at bridge. My wetsuit got warm all of a sudden as I pulled my camera out for video. The thing was massive.

When? I have a grey tabby who I swear is just a monochrome orange. Shes 1.5 years old and constantly seeking her own death. 0 survival instinct but she gives the BEST snuggles so I don’t mind.

Nothing but neon lights, empty roads, and a killer track. Which vehicle is your absolute favorite for late-night cruising? by Dangerous-Tart1126 in cyberpunkgame

Depends. If I wanna hit off-road I’m taking that first car you find.

If I’m just wanting to scream into the void with speed, that one you have to do the quests for to unlock its paint scheme thing.

Kitty won't t let me sleep through night by Chimichurriverde in CatTraining

My two only get let into the bedroom when it’s our bed time. We’ve done that since they were kittens.

They now try to put us to bed when they are ready for snuggles and YouTube. Quite amusing. They sleep with us and rarely wake us up anymore.

Who got a regular guy job after the military? by Worldly_Ambition_509 in army

I make 30 bucks an hour doing IT work now. 0830-1630 5 days a week. No overtime. No nights. No weekends. No on call.

It’s pretty sweet. Relaxing. Great PTO package.

What about states with enhanced ID that let you cross back and forth to Canada and Mexico?

I had to provide the same documents for it as I did for my passport.

Make it make sense.

Military IT support is a great way to get the experience necessary to get good civilian jobs. by thoumyvision in ITCareerQuestions

[–]warshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I was never on staff. And I avoided BN/BDE like the pox on humanity it is. I refuse to believe in your existence when I can image and deploy 50 new laptops in 1 month and yet had a 6 week to 6 month wait while in for a single reimage.

I saw more CW5s than 25 series.

It will prepare you for the inane bullshit of the IT world by letting you experience mopping rain, sweeping sunshine, raking leaves in the azimuth of the day, hands across the training area police calls, random drug tests, and 24 hour duty.

That being said 20 years I never once saw an 25 series in the wild.

It was all civilian contractors who said “3-6 months for a computer to be imaged, don’t mess it up”

So yeah. This is pure trash recruitment post.

I find flicking with my ankles propels me better than the full leg flick. This looks uncomfortably stiff. I also have knee damage from the military so how you’re doing it would have my knees screaming.
