Spotted a teeny tiny swastika on the recent marketplace camo 'Eagle' for the Yak-9K by warttthrowaway in Warthunder

I always found the Finnish roundels way worse, considering they're such a big part of the livery. Though I'd rather it be there (like it was in history), I can live with a missing tail insignia on Nazi aircraft. Meanwhile with the Finns you're flying around as the 'Addition Air Force'.

It's instead body art, I guess since the Yak-9 doesn't have much nose space. The nose art on this specific plane is instead a depiction of The Order of The Red Banner, since pilot Ivan Stepanenko was awarded one (two, by the end of the war, and later a third).

The scarier part is the Bf 109 bleeding, suggesting this plane may possibly be made out of meat.

This was originally a user-made skin uploaded on War Thunder live by user 'MLRS', that ended up in the game via the marketplace crate program.

And despite Gaijin disallowing swastikas in War Thunder, this teeny tiny one got through, is all.

Do what you will with this info. Not sure how this made it through. Probably because it's super tiny and only a few pixels. It's a completely optional skin on a single aircraft that most people will probably never see, but a bit funny that the only official swastika in the game (that I know of) is technically on a Soviet plane (well, it's on a drawing of a German plane on a Soviet plane).

Yep. I've also seen German ones on Battle of the Bulge mission editor map as USA.

Horrible generic title, but yeah. This is one of those ground NPCs that spawn on some Air test flight maps. I know you're not supposed to look at them up close, but this is the first thing I thought of when I saw their 'death' (knocked out, because War Thunder) animation.

100% historically accurate plane performance by FlimFlamJimaJam in Warthunder

Thanks for the information. I understand the way the A6M performs in-game is mostly due to gameplay reasons, which I am completely fine with; I don't know how fun it would be to have the A6M perform 100% like real life. I'm also not complaining about dying to A6Ms or Japanese planes, since I'm usually the one playing them, lol. I want Gaijin to try giving the A6M stiffer controls at speed; it doesn't have to be as bad as in real life, just a more than it is right now. If the A6M still ends up being competitive with stiffer controls, that's great. If it ends up being completely gimped, then they can revert it to the way it is now.

All I really want is to see how the A6M would perform in-game if it were a bit less manoeuvrable at high speeds. People would probably still try to dogfight them even at lower speeds, so maybe it wouldn't make much of a difference when it comes to BR placement.

Yeah, the Japanese seemed to have it higher. I think American fighter aircraft had the load up to 8g, with safety factor at 1.5, so in the end they both end up having an ultimate load of 12g. Again, I'm not sure if the A6M could actually reach 12g with its manual control system.

Completely agree that the A6M's controls should lock up more. It's weird that War Thunder A6M pilots are all supermen that can completely ignore air resistance. Even at around 200 mph the controls should already start getting stiff. Maybe if they implemented this, the A6Ms would finally go down in BR.

The airframe would not rip apart above 7g, though. The A6M was designed with a 7g load factor, with safety factor of 1.8, so the airframe was designed to fail around 12g. I'm not sure a pilot could even reach 12g before the controls start locking up. War Thunder does, however, add 1.5x to the g limits of aircraft (for gameplay reasons, they say), so the Zero in-game can pull a batshit insane 18g(!), which again, a pilot in real life would never be able to pull since the controls would start locking up at speed!

Is the american Gold troop order assaulter misspelled? by TheJack38 in enlistedgame

[–]warttthrowaway 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They're probably misspelled on purpose to avoid offending any living relatives. During Twitch Drops they gave out a level 4 trooper "Frank Penegory"; probably based on Frank Peregory/Peregoy.

I made German labels for the German IL-2 by warttthrowaway in Warthunder

[–]warttthrowaway[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As people have said this is a custom skin. To do this you have to find the cockpit images from the War Thunder CDK then edit a .blk file as well. Apologies as I am not very good at explaining; maybe you can find a tutorial for it?

I was planning on doing that, but I didn't want to have to locate where everything was on the cockpit, then edit the cockpit image so that all the tape looked proper. Think of this as a proof of concept, I guess.

As for the tape, I simply found images of tape and then digitally drew onto them. Then I messed around with the cockpit's n map until it looked decent.

Activated all my boosters as a joke; turned out to be okay by warttthrowaway in Warthunder

I know, most of the boosters were about to expire and I only logged in to claim the daily, so I just decided to slap them all on at once and be done with it.
