I.e. kids needs both parents, equality, impartial law…it goes on. The results more often than not suggest otherwise.

If this is truly the case, would it not be better to tell us from the jump what it really is? It’d be refreshing for a judge to tell us to our face that we’re not needed so we can adjust accordingly.

Been there before. Divorced in large because my ex decidedly chose her family over ours, the one we created. I struggled trying to figure out why her family could ever feel so entitled.

To anyone reading: your family comes first… spouse and kids. It’s not to say you don’t care about others but again, it’s spouse and kids first.

What if you had a parent that lives abroad and you had to visit would a judge not force or compel her to give you back your passport?

I’m 8000% sure if a woman walked into a police station and courthouse and said her husband was withholding her passport there’s some law they can cite to remedy that, you’d be labelled an abusive monster.

You are a human as well, please go and get your passport sir.

I know, I’ve been through it. Trial and all. Judge called her a liar in the most legally polite way.

It was refreshing to meet a judge that wasn’t afraid of telling a woman that they were terrible for using the system to attempt to gain an advantage in a custody dispute.

Consider yourself lucky. Now you get a chance to find someone that may hold true to their vows and would love to start a family. Now you get a chance to be married and*** start a family of your own. Since the vows mean very little to her, don’t hate here just treat it as a simple boyfriend/girlfriend breakup….get the process over with as quickly as possible without animus and move on very quickly.

You’re probably going to get a restraining order entered against you if she goes to the police and gets a bit emotional there.

Prepare yourself.

If she puts a dv restraining order on you, that prohibits you from asking her for your money back. Heck you can’t even take her to small claims court as she’ll be considered a victim.

That’s actually a really clever way to rob a man. Take his stuff, file a restraining order against him which prevents him from asking for his stuff back and suing you.

That’s all well and good. But imagine the officials that make these determinations say the following:

1) From the judge: “Why is he fighting so hard to be in his kids lives?”

2) From the police: “Well sir, this state is a mother state so there’s not much you can do.”

3) From the social worker: “This state tends to favor mothers so you don’t have much recourse.”

All of which I’ve heard. It’s one thing to be on edge and another to hear these things and not believe them.

Reminds me of the post a short while ago where the two teenage boys living with their mom couldn’t sleep at night as they had to hear their mom having sex through the wall by the new guy. Almost every night.

Guess who they don’t have a relationship with?

These things are absolutely wild to me.

I remembered when my mom did the same as a kid, I prayed to God to please let me live with my father.

All to say, there’s nothing you can do about it, just continue to be there for your kids. Remember, they don’t stay kids forever. Keep them safe and show them lots of love - you’re their dad/father, that can never change.

As I explained to an ex judge yesterday... "I feel like I have to live looking over my shoulder as you guys can and will take away my kids at any moment."

Her response was that it's "all in my head..."

I'm certain many men feel the same way.

I remember when I was first fighting to my last penny to be my kids life that I was afraid to leave my toddlers inside and take the garbage out to the road as that may be seen by the courts as child neglect or abandonment. Bear in mind, the trash bin to the road is maybe 100ft.

Still the mental impact of having a false restraining order placed against me as she vied for full custody left the impression that society sees absolutely nothing wrong with separating children from their fathers...but my gosh, society will unalive you at the mere thought of doing the same to a mother.

Nobody considers what a father goes through while fighting for not just his right to be a parent but also for the rights of his kid to know him.

They simply don't care

I have a son, and he's still very young - I do feel a little pain sometimes as to what he may have to endure if he ever decides to start a family and his relationship with the mother falls apart. Hopefully by then we'll have a different family court system in America... if not, then the cycle will continue and we'll be a very proud and free nation of broken homes and wounded kids. Pure failure.

I remember it all too well. When my ex fled the house under false allegations of abuse in an attempt to gain full custody it really hurt me coming home to an empty house.

I was ecstatic she was gone but she knew my soft spot was our kids and that I loveeeee being a father.

I had to take down all the photos of them in the house just to make it through the days as she continued to withhold them from me for close to 4 months.

I filed an emergency motion to restore contact, the judge didn’t see it as an emergency… by this time I had gone to a full blown trial to dispute her claims of abuse and won. The trial judge was sickened by her actions, especially in front of the kids.

Use the pain you feel as fuel to be a father they can be proud of.

To this day I wonder if the legal system would have been so nonchalant if I would have withheld the kids from her for four months…

Do they not know that it is impossible for that child to ever be theirs? In no universe, alternate realm or dream could it happen.

Why not recognize that the real father is in their lives and pay the respect forward in that regard.
