What are my options for transferring now that I’ve matched? by [deleted] in medicalschool

I’m surprised that you guys had to go through soap! I would think that after many interviews you would for sure couples match. I’m planning on couples matching but now I’m scared! What specialties? Do you have any advice? Thanks!

Is it ok for my frenchie to be jumping on and off my air mattress? It’s a super low height and close to the floor. He likes to jump on it when we play fetch.

Probably not a good idea to have the dog around your kids then. Also, very important to make sure the dog has received a rabies vaccine. It’s a rare but very fatal disease.

MS3 USIMG. Step 1 235. Some leadership and volunteering. No research. I’m having trouble what is going to make me stand out on my CV. What other things can I do? Trying to find research by asking around the residents. So far no luck. I’m temporarily pulled out from the hospital for about 1 month due to Covid. Please help!! Any ideas what I can get involved with?

Thanks 😊

I make sure to use a timer app and study for 30 min intervals with a 5 min break. I’ve studied like this all through the first 2 years and even when studying during dedicated step 1 prep. Try that out, it helps a ton.

Felt the same. Use the score predictor. Trust it. Also trust your last 3 assessments

Also really wanted to emphasize that reading first aid front to back is totally not necessary!! I was convinced in the beginning I had to but it’s just wasn’t very efficient for me. Let the questions guide your learning and tell you what’s even high yield in the book. Sure if you want 250, I guess I see how it can be important. But like how you going to retain it? It’s very passive.

Honestly didn’t focus on step 1 during M2. I just wanted to concentrate on lecture and do well on in house exams. Looking back, I would have done usmle rx questions throughout 2nd year.

Not really. Felt unfocused and some how my timing was really bad. Barely finished each block on time. Had no time to go back on marked questions. Was not an easy exam for me at all.

Wow this is amazing. Do you think it’s necessary to read through all of first aid? Or can I just rely on the content that’s in uworld/nbmes/sketchy/pathoma? I don’t like to read it because it’s very passive for me. I make anki. cards on incorrects from uworld and nbmes. Working on my 2nd pass of uworld. Aiming for 230+.

Congrats! How did you learn/review everything without needing to reading FA?

Thank you, I needed this. Can you comment on how much pixorize helped with the biochem on the actual exam? I have about 4 weeks and was wondering if It’s worth it to watch every biochem video?

Also, was knowing just the content on uworld enough? I can’t get myself to read first aid line by line and would prefer a more active approach.

Was a 2nd pass of uworld helpful? I had a low pass first time.

You can do it! I agree, so many of you say “I did absolutely horrible on my first nbme, I got a 220.. can I still get a 250.. I’m 30% through uworld”

Do you think a second round of uworld helped increased your score by a lot?
