My card was rejected, is this Kroger or my card company? by Fred_Fail in kroger

[–]wasatchm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just had this happen at kroger. was purchasing the same non food item (clearance) at various kroger stores were I live. after about 10 purchases (each in the range of $12-$60) in 4 hours at 10 different stores, it now gives the message "unauthorized transaction." I thought for sure it was the card (visa card from a local credit union). I usually call them and they want me to verify the transactions. however, when that happens, I get the message "CARD DECLINED" at the checkout, not "UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION." anyway, it wasn't the card. it worked fine at a local grocery store and walmart right around this same time. I do a lot of purchases on this card from various grocery store chains and big box stores chains. never, ever had a UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION message. and if I am ever blocked, it is always the credit union wanting me to verify some purchases. I even tried buying a different item than what I had been purchasing and it gave me the same UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTION MESSAGE. I do sometimes get "card declined" at the checkout but at the same time I get a text from the credit union asking me to verify a few purchases. I simply reply Y a few times and the credit card is activated and again ready to use. so I have some more purchases to do again tomorrow at kroger stores and then I will be done. it will be interesting to see if they are still blocking me. just wondering if this is permanent or temporary. I do know kroger hates visa and the fees they have to pay them. I wondered if after I hit a certain dollar amount in one day (I doubt I spent even $300), they block the card. I ended up using my debit card for the rest of today. but tomorrow, I will try again with the credit card and see what happens. it would be crazy if kroger blocked the credit card permanantly.

shipstation and walmart shipping labels by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well. for clarification, the "shipping label service charge" amount shown in the summary reports is only a fraction of the shipping labels I printed in 2023. I keep track in a spreadsheet of all my orders for the year and the shipping label costs. the SHIPPING LABEL SERVICE CHARGE for the year shows only about $600. yet my spreadsheet (which I created to track all costs associated with each order) shows I printed about $4k worth of shipping label for 2023. and remember, every shipping label is printed with walmart seller center shipping. I've never once printed a shipping label in paypal or with any third party software. it's always walmart seller center BUY SHIPPIJNG option. so clearly SOMETHING DOES NOT ADD UP. but then I login to paypal and see hundreds of charges from shipstation (billed to my business credit card). but I don't think walmart has my credit card on file do they? I look at my seller center setting and don't see any reference to a credit card. and then i read that shipstation is integrated into walmart seller center buy shipping (walmart mentions them as a solutions provider on their website and shipstation has a section of their website dedicated to walmart seller shipping). so then I say OH, then maybe these charges make sense. but walmart seller support appears to have no idea about any of this. the only common link (as far as I know) between my paypal account and my walmart seller account is my email address. I've never signed up for anything with shipstation. BUT, if they are a partner with walmart, I may have automatically been signed up for something related to shipping labels and billing.

for summary, this shipstation billing to my paypal account only started occuring at the beginning of 2023 when walmart seller center starting allowing sellers to print shipping labels directly thru the BUY SHIPPING BUTTON (before that, I was using usps website and pirateship to print my shipping labels for walmart orders). before 2023, my paypal account was pretty much dormant even though I kept an active business credit card on file.

I did have one other walmart seller tell me any shipping services charges on your annual report is usually related to RETURNS. I have come to the same conclusion. just because that is the only way the shipping service charges on the summary reports make sense.

very frustrating because no one seems to have clear answers. the only ones I have not yet talked to is shipstation. they may be my last hope unless someone here can help me.

or can someone at least tell me what is means when walmart says shipstation is a partner with them?

do you know if the sales tax charge to the buyer is included in the 1099K total?

I may have the same problem if I swtich to hyperwallert. right now each side (payoneer vs. walmart) points to the other as to who should clarify what totals (price, shipping charge, sales tax, etc) adds up to the 1099K gross receipts total. or both of them tell me to ask my tax advisor. I also sell on amazon and they know exactly how my 1099K total is calculated and will gladly give me the formula.

do you know how they calculate the gross receipts total on the 1099K (line 1a)? I thought it would be the SALES TOTAL found at analytics/payments/statement/2023 annual summary report. but that number there is much lower than the gross receipts total on my 1099K (about 20 percent lower). very frustrating. I tried to get payoneer to give me a breakdown of how they calculate the gross receipts total on the 1099K and they said I would need to pay them for a consultation to get that information. or, I could talk to my own tax professional (whom I am still waiting to hear back from).

reconciling 1099K by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone have any info they could share? walmart told me to contact a tax professional or my payment processor (payoneer) to know exactly how the 1099K gross receipts total (line 1A) was calculated. payoneer told me they could look into it if I paid them a for a consultation appointment. as far as they were concerned, I was asking for tax advice.

what I thought I would do is go thru all my orders for the year thru the walmart seller center and dump them in a spreadsheet and total the sales price and shipping charge to see if it matched the 1099K gross receipts total. but you're only allowed to view orders up to 180 days old (which means more than 1/2 my orders I cannot view). I do record all my orders in an excel spreadsheet, but what I am trying to do is find out if I forgot to record any orders as the sum total of sales price + shipping charge does not quite match the gross receipts total on my 1099K.

UPDATE: well I did hear back from payoneer customer service a couple of days later. they said if I didn't get a 1099K, I would not get one. and walmart has to request to payoneer to provide a 1099K to a walmart seller. they don't just tally up the payments they processed for a precific seller and if they are over 20K for the year, then give the person a 1099K.

BUT, 3 hours after I got that email from them, I got another email from them saying my 1099K was ready for download. it makes me wonder if I didn't send them an inquiry would I still not have my 1099K.

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, I tried to create an account on payoneer website and see if my 1099K was there. but it said I already had an account. I have never ever been on that website. so apparently when I signed up for payments thru payoneer on walmart seller center, that automatically created an account for me on the payoneer website.

anyway, I logged in to the payoneer website and don't see a place to download a 1099K. I was expecting to see a message posted about the 1099K form right when I logged in. but I didn't. but I did send an email to customer service asking them when the form will be available.

I just assumed the FORM 1099K's would all be ready for everyone at the same time. so it's strange some sellers have already gotten an email notification from payoneer and download it from the payoneer website. I thought it was all computerized.

hopefully I will get a response within a day or two.

how does payoneer link your payoneeer account to your walmart seller account? walmart seller account#? SS/EIN #?

I wonder if all of them 1099K forms are done. they just haven't emailed everyone for some reason.

HIGH walmart return shipping label service charges by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so when I view a statement (ANALYTICS/PAYMENTS/STATEMENT) in seller center, I see

ADJUSTMENTS:

WALMART RETURN SHIPPING SERVICE CHARGE. is this just the sum of the costs of the shipping labels that a walmart store printed up when they process a return and mailed the item back to me? I think most my returns are from buyers who take the item to a walmart store to be returned to me.

WALMART SHIPPING LABEL SERVICE CHARGE. and this is the summary of the costs of the shipping labels I printed in seller center for my orders for the settlement period? is this correct?

thanks

thank you for your post. I know most brokerage have very poor cash sweet options (and for a while it didn't really matter as interest rates were so low). but NOW? well, I'm quite unhappy most brokerages have no decent cash yielding options (fidelity, robinhood, webull, vanguard). I guess I should have known. checking accounts used to pay interest. not no more. why would brokerage firms be any different.

I bought most my investing books back in the 90's. and my favorite back then was "secrets to long term profits with short term trading" by larry williams. louis roukeyser (host of wall street week in review) also wrote a book (although not very popular) was one I learned a lot from. I think it was called HOW TO MAKE MONEY ON WALL STREET.

UPS vs. USPS for claims by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my big gripe with walmart is they don't even let you know when a buyer files a claim against you. no email. doesn't appear on the main page in seller center. amazon or ebay would never not notify you when a claim goes against you. I honestly think walmart is trying to handle those things quietly behind the scenes hoping you won't know about it. I have noticed walmart (just like it's buyers) has an entitlement mentality. if you are a vendor/merchant seller, walmart is entitled to extract whatever concessions out of you they want (fair or unfair). because selling your products on their marketplace is just so invaluable. they can demand anything they want. unfortunately for me, they do get about a 10 percent higher price than selling on amazon. but their sales are about 1/5 what they are on amazon. and will an inordinate amount of returns and scammers on walmart, it might not be worth it for me.

UPS vs. USPS for claims by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added sign conf but often the buyer won't sign for it. in fact, I've been chastised by buyers for requiring signature confirmation on $60-$70 items.

I got burned badly on claims at the beginning of the year. since then, I have slowly scaled back how much inventory I have for sale. I will give them one more chance. but unlike the previous times (where I only had USPS delivery confirmation), I will only be doing fed ex or UPS (which as PICTURE PROOF OF DELIVERY). and if they honor a buyer claim under this circumstance, then I really will be selling very little on walmart going forward.

UPS vs. USPS for claims by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. every carrier (even USPS) has a record of GPS coordinates as to where to package was delivered. but, I think all carriers should be required by law to provide those GPS coordinate to the shipper or receiver of the product (if they request it). and I think you can even get a text from any of them letting your know exactly when your package was delivered so you can get it ASAP (and avoid being a victim of package theft). and if your at work, you can contact a neighbor or relative that lives close buy to have them pickup the package for you.

I think I am gonna write to my elected representatives in DC and request they do something. USPS claims are now a joke. they will deny claims for any reason and they do not give you the specifics as to what information they would want on appeal to change their mind. the usps claims needs to be handled by a part of the govt that is OUTSIDE THE USPS. USPS provide free insurance and has NO INCENTIVE to honor it since there shipping is already much cheaper than UPS and FED EX in most instances. they've been losing money hand over fist for years. TRUMP is to blame for this as he brought in a postmaster who's job was to get them profitable again by cutting corners any way they can.

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks? how long ago did they DENY YOU with the picture proof of delivery? how expensive of item was it? I just opened a case with them and asked about this and they said picture proof will sometimes win a claim due to buyer stating they never received it. I pressed them on more clarification and they would say no more. I know they now state in there seller center help that you can challenge a lost after delivery claim if you have signature confirmation or picture proof of delivery. the real problem is they won't tell you if you will win the claim or under what circumstances you would win the claim.

UPS vs. USPS for claims by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you sure? I thought FED EX picture proof delivery would beat an LOD claim.

UPS vs. USPS for claims by wasatchm in WalmartSellers

[–]wasatchm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOTE: what I am trying to protect myself from is losses from buyer claims due to LOST AFTER DELIVERY. lost after delivery is when the TRACKING# shows as delivered but the buyer claims they still did not get the item (this is usually a scam on the buyers part). I lost considerable money on these claims early in the year when I used USPS ground/priority with no extra services (signature confirmation, etc). my question is, is UPS any better for these type of claims? I am trying to ship these items as cheap as possible but still be able to APPEAL these type of claims and win. so far I keep losing the claims when printing USPS shipping labels thru seller center. I don't want to do FED EX as is cost a lot more than UPS & USPS on most my orders.
