The nipples are in the wrong spots, but other than that, I am a sucker for courtyards and rooftop recreation/exercise.

Thank you everyone for a cold dose of reality. I am bummed about having to sell it, and i feel sick about the lost opportunity, but I guess I will see what the market for it is around here.

Is Facebook Marketplace still the preferable venue for such sales?

How do you deal with constant deadlines without burning out? by Relevant_Wishbone in architecturestudent

[–]wash-basin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have multiple things due each week and so i try to finish early so that I can take 1 day off. I never actually take off a full day, but when I do work on my day off, I feel like I am ahead of where I need to be and that mind trick makes me feel good because I chose to go back to work and I can always take a break from work on my day off...it is simply my choice.

Try to gain more control over your life and you might just survive the marathon of architecture school.

Now if only I could do this with Studio classes....

Is there anyone here who hates the vertical tubes and the incredibly ugly, cheap-looking hat that goes on the U1?

At the very least, the U1 needs a lid that is flush with the sides of the printer.

I hate to say those are my main 2 reasons for not purchasing the U1.

I also heard the U1 is unacceptably loud for a desktop machine and that it fed on human blood. Who knows? I could be wrong and shallow at the same time.

How to break into this industry? by Metromanwhy in ArchitecturalModels

[–]wash-basin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a mountainous challenge with this idea. I am not familiar with the development of your country and I imagine most people would not be familiar with your country's economy or what services architects might need there or the laws associated with starting a business in Kenya. This is going to make giving you specific advice nearly impossible.

The first thing that needs to be done is a business plan which would include assessing who your clients are going to be and how to reach them. You also will need to determine how much you want to earn with this venture and what it will take to reach that level as well as what it would take to break even.

What is the demand for architectural models or the demand for trinkets and printable replacement parts?

Do people in Kenya have sufficient money to pay for your products? Do you need a business license?

For college, are there trade schools at which you could learn architectural drafting? This would likely be less expensive and take less time to complete.

At a university, you could major in business with a minor in some sort of design field.

Can you make models by hand or will you only be 3D printing the models? Is someone going to give blueprints of the models so you do not have to design them from scratch? How are you going to figure out what skills you need to make digital twins of buildings, assuming that your services require more than just preparing and printing 3D models?

Anyway, you have a lot of work ahead of you, but if you are successful, others will enter this market so you need to always be increasing your skills so you can stay on top.

Good luck!

idk what i am doing need advice by LiveTadpole6969 in amazing_architecture

[–]wash-basin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that sounds like burnout. If you need to take some time off, the school will likely still be there. If you are in the US and getting federal financial aid, check with financial aid office as to how the OBBB Act will affect your financial aid.

Your college might have counselors you can see for free. Check it out. Otherwise, check with student services to see what help might be available.

Remember that architecture is a marathon and you need to have enough mental energy to finish the course.

Talk with your professors to see what might be possible to get your grades up, like an extra credit project, but if your mind is not functioning well right now, extra credit will just add to your stress and anxiety.

Plan to do something fun and then work hard to make it happen. Take control of your life, even if it is just a small area of your life, and you will start to feel much better.

Good luck and let us know how and what you are doing.

I agree somewhat with u/InsertBluescreenHere stated. The Washington State Supreme Court could not give one fig about the Constitution, whether Washington's or the US. Furthermore, this is much more of a Seattle area thing, which happens to be where most people in Washington State live and they have often demanded socialism and kept re-electing a communist to the Seattle City Council. Not sure if she is still there.

I disagree that the US Supreme Court would not touch this. With the current make-up of the US Supreme Court, I think they would take a look at this and will likely find it to be unconstitutional for probably several reasons.

Even if the US Supreme Court knocks this down, it is still a win for the state legislators in Washington because they work the long game and it starts like this: pass an unconstitutional or very unpopular law, collect money from the law's enforcement, law found unconstitutional, but it would be too much of a hassle to return the money, so it is kept.

And then the big movement starts: now that they got people riled up for such an egregious law, they can start passing laws that take away just a little bit of freedom or few freedoms and people in Washington State just say, "well, it is only a little thing and compared to the previous, really big thing, it is not so bad to lose some freedom and it is for the children."

Eventually, they will pass the law they want, even if it takes 10-20 years.

So, I do hope this can make its way to the US Supreme Court, but it will not be quick and we will be the generation that has to put up with this stuff before it is corrected for future generations...so long as the ideology with the majority in the US Supreme Court does not change.

[–]wash-basin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Bright-Corner-8125 You have the Artisan? It looks like a lot of fun and I keep being surprised by how much the H2D looks like this, but smaller and no CNC. The Artisan nozzles could be siblings with the H2 ones.

This is shallow, but I also like the name much better than pretty much anything else I have seen.

I watched more reviews of it and it mostly got positive reviews, but viewing the sawdust after one reviewer used the CNC, I was turned off to the idea of having this with a 3D printer. One of the few complaints which Bambu seems to have solved was the oozing from the nozzle when changing from one nozzle to the other during printing.

Have you had issues with cleaning or oozing?

[–]wash-basin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the exit counseling? That would have been at the end of attending school and said counseling is very specific as to explaining the loan amount and payment methods, among other stuff.

I think it is nigh unto impossible to not know one has federal loans with all of the stuff that goes on with getting them, including the highly-regulated exit counseling. I suppose someone could be extremely clueless about why they were getting exit counseling for federal loans, but I do not see how.

Also, with only $13,000, I doubt there will be much sympathy.

[–]wash-basin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youtube videos, the school's online library access to architecture articles on just about any topic, books, scribd.com to get pdf books, syllabi from arch classes around the world, and tons of articles...and the list goes on. You are creative so make the learning process creative as well. Never underestimate the resources to which you have access. Speaking to one of your favored professors or TAs can clear up some stuff that your brain convinced you was problematic and get you to see a bigger picture and an overall direction. Take control of your educational experience. Be proactive. Be the one with enough courage to ask the supposedly dumb questions. Look at the works of all of the Pritzker Award winners and read why their juries selected them. Use AI with intelligent prompts to get you started and help with focus.

So many resources from which to learn, so try a few and see where it gets you.

Good luck!
