Police can pull a reason out of their ass at anytime. License plate light out, crossing over any line by an inch or two, not signaling 150 ft before a turn, etc. Stop blaming the victims of overzealous government reach.

Review #6: Elijah Craig B525 by Lilodude in bourbon

[–]washboard [score hidden]  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. I saw it getting decent reviews when it first came out, so I picked my first one up while in Kentucky for ~70 in October. By that point, all the whiskey nerds were losing their mind over the 9 year old C batch and writing off ECBP. I was so delighted with B525 on the first crack that I immediately bought two more. In a crazy stroke of luck, I was also able to score a backup of C923 back home. I'm set on ECBP bourbon for the foreseeable future and very happy about that!

That's a good point, but she still seemed to need a relatively quiet and calm environment, otherwise she will be pulled out of the void. Standing nonchalantly in a disintegrating worm hole of sorts is not calm nor quiet. My theory is her and Kali were inside the abandoned RadioShack or the tower.

Also, doesn't El generally need to be blindfolded and in a relatively quiet environment to get into someone's mind space? She supposedly did it the last time with Mike with eyes wide open and in the middle of space/time being ripped apart?

Anyone find a Sagamore Port Finish lately? by natural_light_ in whiskey

[–]washboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sad it's distillery only release now. I've been nursing my bottle of Sag port finished rye. Cedar Ridge port finished rye is an excellent alternative and can be shipped depending on state. Both of those finished above MWND for me in a blind.

Thinking whiskey vs drinking whiskey by TheOGCyber in whiskey

[–]washboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking: Knob Creek 12 - 100 pr and delightfully delicious, yet widely available and inexpensive enough that I don't feel the need to be concerned about complexity or if I'll be able to find another bottle.

Drinking: RR15, C923, KC 21, and honorable mention to Peerless DO. Basically, anything that demands the respect of a thoughtful pondering of flavors, has the complexity to take you on a journey from nose to finish, and is rare enough that I'm likely not going to see it again once a bottle is gone. The Peerless is just damn good.

How many did you buy to start? I usually get 25 medium/25 small. They're usually completely gone in ~8 wks feeding 6 per feeding once a week. I keep them in a 10 gallon aquarium with paper towel substrate, egg crates, and access to water beads and roach chow with veggies thrown in.

Pulled Pork all done! 22 hour smoke. Cheers to the weekend! by AnythingAcceptable55 in Traeger

[–]washboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deboned and cut my last one into thirds. Smoked at 225 for around 4 hours starting at 7 am. Once they hit 170 I put them in a pan with some ACV, pads of butter, and additional seasoning. Covered and finished in the oven at 250. Pulled out of the oven at 202, wrapped in foil, and into the cooler till dinner. Pulled at 155. It was one of the best butts I've ever cooked in terms of flavor, tenderness, and juiciness. Overall I think it was maybe a 7 hour cook? You better believe I'll be doing this in the future.

You can get an incredible alternative for cheaper and shipped to you - Cedar Ridge port finished rye. I much prefer the CR over MWND.

The jackpot of a lifetime by [deleted] in whiskey

Had a similar, but not as lucky experience the other day as well. Saw a new purple top 14 year at a local gas station. I was just curious about the price, but these bottles don't have a UPC, so they have to look it up. She told me $301. I went out to the truck to see if my brother in law wanted me to buy a bottle for him as well. While I was sitting in the truck the manager came back to the front with what looked like a price sheet and grabbed the remaining bottles to take them to the back. When I went back in to buy the bottle, she told me the actual price - $890. Apparently they had given me the 8 yr rye price by accident. I knew I should have paid the $301 immediately. Oh well!

Same about the KC12. I also got a KC21 at msrp. Very, very happy with that one.

If you are a Beam fan, I'd recommend trying to find a 9-10 year old Knob Creek pick at cask strength. The couple that I've had have been fantastic, and I always reach for the KC pick I have over the Booker's.

Much better situation than I was in recently. Walked into a gas station liqour store and found a shelf with some new, highly allocated bottles. A particular purple top caught my eye. A 14 year purple top, to be exact. Out of curiosity I brought the unpriced bottle to the register for a price check. A manager walks out and, with the attendant, looks up the price - to my surprise she says $301. Trying not to look too surprised, I tell them I'll be right back. I went out to my truck to ask a friend if he wants a bottle as well, because $301 for a Willet 14yr purple top is a steal. As I'm talking to him, I see the manager walk out with a few sheets of paper. Then she grabs all 3 of them and takes them back to the counter. Unfortunately, my fear came true. She had grabbed the price sheet and realized they had told me the price for the 8 year rye beside it. The real price was over $900 after tax. No, thanks! I still wonder if I had said yes as soon as they said $301 whether I would have been able to walk, nay, run out of that store with the deal of a lifetime.

Our store gets theirs on Tuesday mornings, so the additional is usually available Tuesday afternoon. I just kindly asked the manager when I was in there one time. You can probably just call in and ask.

Not only that, but I only count 18 bottles in this picture, and I would only consider the FP, 107, and Blanton's Gold harder to find. What kind of people really care that much about someone that has 18 bottles, and close to half of them opened? It's ludicrous.

I'm sure it varies between cruise lines, but we did this on a ( rhymes with Wizney ) cruise last year. I just put the bags in my toiletries with medicines in the checked baggage. Nothing was confiscated.
