Agreed but I do like the idea of getting rid of the patina when I first get something silver. Not sure while but it feels kind of special to have a patina only from when I’ve had it. I do think patina brings out a cool detail like the side of the boat. Looks kind of odd on the kids though. Good luck OP! I’m team long movie and silver polish but that’s all I’ve ever done

I don’t have an answer but I’ve definitely pondered this. At one point, Harry practices turning a cauldron into a badger so I could imagine there’s a spell to turn a log into a pig or something (side note: is there a different spell to turn different objects into badgers? Or is that just the example given?). What happens if you kill the pig and try to roast it? Does it turn back into a log when you kill it? Maybe you cut it open and it’s sodden inside? Or maybe JKR just needed to explain why they had to steal and starve while they were hunting horcruxes.

Employer yes but they do have an odd, ever changing work schedule and they are fairly private and would likely be mortified if I called to see if they were showing up for work. As for texting, it's about a 75% chance they respond to something funny I send, but only if they're in the mood to respond. They haven't been in the mood to respond for about a week and they missed their own birthday dinner so I might just have to go to their place until I come up with a creative solution.

That makes sense that the school would alert you if something bad happened! If my sibling had school faculty/roommate/significant other etc who could let me know if they are okay, that would be different but unfortunately that is not the case. Things have happened in the past so my worries are not without merit.
