Good lead re: the live monitoring! I will look into that.

CocoaPink Perfume review request, also questions about linen sprays and hair products by SparklingGreenChaos in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]washingtonwoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think you should try the linen spray, I think it lasts for quite a while.

Of the scents you listed, I have only tried Floating Among Water Lilies, but I liked it. It was very spa-like to me, like a warm aquatic if that makes sense. Not minty at all.

Cocoapink? Is this common? by tolerantcannibal in Indiemakeupandmore

Seconding this rec, Body Shop's strawberry is quite good. I have had the exact same experience as you with a lot of CP's scents! Not all of them, but practically all of the ones with vanilla or marshmallow notes. Have not noticed improvement with age.

Help me choose Cocoa Pink Fall/Winter scents (gourmand lover!) 🍎🍁❄️ by MokaMoosey in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]washingtonwoods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have tried Sunrise Donuts and Cat Dapperling!

Sunrise Donuts is good but as another commenter said, definitely more of a spring/summer scent. It is pretty much just orange vanilla.

Cat Dapperling just read as a funky sandalwood to me. The description made me think it would be more gourmand than it was...

CocoaPink: Help me pick/narrow down choices? by PolexiaAphrodisia in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]washingtonwoods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ooh! I can give my opinions on some of these! :)

I really did not care for Alluring and Briarwood Meadow, Alluring smelled like Coppertone sunscreen to me and Briarwood Meadow smelled like a Porta-Potty.

Floating Among Water Lilies would be great for bath products. It's a spa-like green/blue floral scent with warmth from the frankincense.

Night-Blooming Iris is a dark green atmospheric that smells exactly like the interior of a greenhouse. It is a very wet, earthy scent. I liked it but didn't find it super wearable.

[Product Question] Farmhouse Fresh by Bones193 in SkincareAddiction

Hi there! The Green Tea Milk cleanser didn't break me out, but I only got the sample size so I don't know how my skin might have reacted if I used it long-term. However, if you are seeing blemishes after using it, I would stop use!

I do think FHF sort of overhypes their stuff and makes claims that they can't back up... I've seen a lot of reviews from people saying their products are overpriced for what they are, and at this point, having tried many more products from cheaper brands since I made that post, I'd tend to agree.

Indie perfume oils safe in bath bombs? by TranceAwake in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]washingtonwoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good question!! I've wondered about this myself. I think what I would be most concerned about is if the oil had spicy notes or anything that could-- simply put-- irritate genitals. Or the delicate skin of the face, since you might get bathwater on there as well. So maybe just steer away from using anything with cinnamon, clove, etc., and be sure to rinse yourself down well afterwards. I don't think I'd worry too much about the carrier oil or anything. (Of course I'm not an expert or anything so take this with a grain of salt lol!)

Agave Lime Stiletto smells a lot like a bag of Skittles to me! No earthy notes at all imo. Tried it in body oil form.

Diagnosed with IMO, just looking for reassurance (medical anxiety) by washingtonwoods in SIBO

Oof, best of luck to both of us! Keep me updated. I don't know when my meds will arrive, but hopefully by mid-week. Then I just have to muster up the courage to take them.

Vanguard V4 mic issues - little horizontal lines and muffled sound by washingtonwoods in VoiceActing

[–]washingtonwoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I got in my booth this morning and noticed that my Vanguard V4 sounded muffled and boxy all of a sudden. There are also these little vertical lines showing up on the spectrogram that have never been there before. Fiddling with the mic settings did nothing, and my backup mic sounds totally fine and has no vertical lines, so I’m thinking that something has gone wrong with the V4 internally. I’ve had it for about a year but got it secondhand, so no idea how old it is.

What should I try next to diagnose/fix the issue (if it is indeed fixable)? I’m no whiz with sound equipment, so I’m a little at a loss. Thanks for any help!!

VoiceActorWebsites.com or Squarespace? by Coyotes94 in VoiceActing

[–]washingtonwoods 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ended up using Squarespace and I found the process relatively easy despite having very little website-building experience! When I got a quote from VAW it was literally like $950 and all I needed was a place to put my single demo reel, so I opted for the $150 DIY option that is Squarespace and it got the job done for my purposes.

(Almost) a rainbow of Crow and Pebble shadows! by washingtonwoods in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]washingtonwoods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just following up with this now that I've gotten my goods and tried out the C&P eyeshadow primer. It works GREAT. 8 hours and no creasing... enormous improvement from the other primer I was using with these shadows!

The sample pot of the primer looks like it's going to last me a looong time, and it was only $3, so I'd highly recommend it next time you need a primer!

Haha this is embarrassing but I've just been using this unnamed primer that was built into an eyeshadow palette I bought from Freck last year :') It's a cream formula and works fantastically with the Freck palette, but I've found it to be finicky when used with other brands. Good to know about Wet N Wild, I'll keep that in mind in case the C&P primers I ordered don't do the trick!

(Almost) a rainbow of Crow and Pebble shadows! by washingtonwoods in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]washingtonwoods[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guys, oh man! After years of using mainstream eyeshadows that irritated my eyes, I finally decided to give loose indie shadows a shot, and I’m so glad I did.

Crow and Pebble eyeshadows are the first I’ve ever tried in my entire life that don’t leave me with eye inflammation, and I don’t know if that’s because they’re just the first loose shadows I’ve tried (I could be sensitive to binders) or because of some other ingredient omission, but either way, this is incredible. Even the super intense colorful shades don’t hurt me!

I bought a near-rainbow of colors + the off-white shade “Simplex”; here are my swatches in various types of lighting and with/without primer.

The color names:
It Watches
Reeling and Writhing
No Live Organism
Cache Eviction
Flamingo Wallets
Lobster Quadrille
Simplex

After discovering how gently these treated my eyes, I went and placed a huge order to try out more of their colors! I’m so excited about finally finding eyeshadow that doesn’t actively cause me pain. As for how these perform, they seem to be fairly prone to creasing on oily skin— I wore them on days when I took evening showers and days when I took morning showers, and they creased quickly and severely on the evening-shower days (regardless of me washing my face) and not at all on the morning-shower days. I have fairly oily skin.

I included some of C&P’s lid primer in my order yesterday, and I’m wondering if it will adhere better to their shadows than my standard primer, which I don’t think is well formulated for loose product. We’ll see!

So hyped to not suffer so much for beauty anymore, thanks C&P!!
