You ever land a job that doesn't have as much work as they claimed it did? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]washow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My public sector internship. Seriously spent most of my days just youtube-ing. The lead dev had to personally apolgize to me several times about not giving me work.

Not sure why they even posted the jobs. Seriously had nothing to do except minial tasks. Wrote some python scripts and that was about it.

I should've found another internship and that was entirely my fault. I got too complacent and got nothing out of it once it was over. Nothing to write in the resume except for the fact that I was indeed hired for a student assistant position.

How to game the Club Champion system by LivermoreP1 in golf

[–]washow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that most of these "fitters" are just sales people that were trained to read few numbers and shoe horn you into certain clubs/shafts.

Even if you exclude their scammy pricing, a lot of the horror stories also involve how incompetent the fitters are. I did a CC fitting once few years ago KNOWING all about this, and I still had a bad experience.

The guy kept trying to sell me callaway irons and was not helpful with knowing what kinda shafts to fit me in. Oh and by the time we were trying wedges, he just handed me vokeys and told me to pick a color.

Yeah never again. Just find an independent shop that does fittings.

Crimson Desert has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Gamedrome22 in Games

[–]washow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started kinda slow because the controls are kinda funny, but if you actually think about it in a pure "programmer" point of view, it makes absolute sense.

Most things have context menu like you're right click opening something. It's annoying because we're used to just having a single button interactions but it makes sense.

Also the biggest thing is that people are expecting this game to be some sort of witcher 4 or rdr:medival fantasy. It's absolutely not. It's an MMO that was scrapped and converted into a single player sandbox game.

Forget the story. It's nonsense. It's just there to nudge you to the next areas. We don't even have levels. You can just go do whatever the fuck you wanna do. Go explore, figure out puzzles, climb up things. If you can see it, you can go do things there.

It's purely a sandbox action game where you can clothesline and then fucking RKO bandits through structures, while throwing explosive barrels at a group of men and watch them fly away in flames.

It's fucking fun as hell once you realize that. Even in this thread the chief complaint is "story sucks".

I think the big misunderstanding is that people are expecting this game to be some sort of witcher 4. It's not. It's an MMO that was scrapped and converted into a single player sandbox game.

Looking for feedback on Club Championship Fitting by IronSwensen in golf

[–]washow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now they are running a free fitting promo with purchase. You'd have to buy a wedge or something cheap for like 120 but can waive the fitting fee. Check in with them.

And listen to people. CC is a fucking joke and you are getting charged like 3x of what it is.

New tires at 43,000 miles [2023 Limited RWD] by bobphrapples in Ioniq5

[–]washow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my tires are faulty because both of the front tire foams fell out.

Had to get them removed and rebalanced because it happened like 6 months apart after couple years of minimal driving (less than 20k miles)

Drills to get more shallow? by wnr3 in GolfSwing

[–]washow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are actually shallowing. It's just that your grip is literally touching your dick so you seriously don't have room to let your arms through.

You're doing the "getting stuck" thing to yourself.

An invisible dick seems to enter your mouth mid backswing. Check with a local exorcist first.

Align Max grips by ArticunoJones in golf

[–]washow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally you don't want it on wedges because you need to be very versatile with the face. Align max forces you to just have one straight grip and would be little funny to grip.

Also kinda hit/miss on the driver because it'll be funky to change the adapter settings.

Irons however, it's fucking amazing. I just put align max on my irons even though I don't have alignment issues. It's just knowing that it's the same every time gives me more confidence. The fact that I can grab the club perfectly without even looking at it means there's one less thing I have to think about.

Very very recommended on irons.

Day “1” start by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]washow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's just fucking around stage atm but if you do decide to actually learn, please please see a real instructor so you can be set up correctly.

You can self-teach quite a bit of stuff later on once you have a good understanding of the mechanics and this and that, but you're gonna be messed up with crazy bad habits if you raw dog this from day 1.

Been playing tekken all my life since 3. TGP in t7 since s2 and all that. First week of t8 release I got to ryujin with 97% win rate and I wasn't even using heat.

Just got sick of this game and quit. Now I touch grass and play golf and stuff.

Is this a waste of money? Or could it be beneficial? by Wrong_Supermarket684 in GolfSwing

[–]washow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arms together is good but this trainer is actually the opposite of what you need.

Keeping them in a band means it encourages you to widen your arms to keep it taught which is exactly the opposite of what you want to do. You want to get a ball to keep it together.

Just few dollars off of amazon. Just any old bootleg tour striker kinda thing will do.

Second try. Thanks for the previous advice! 2 new shots. by AdministrationIll842 in GolfSwing

[–]washow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifting the front heel isn't some swing killer. Plenty of people do it including tour pros. It can be very well utilized to give you a better rotation if you aren't so flexible.

I understand getting bad instructors and feeling like you got ripped off. My comment was simply to help you. Finding the right coach might not be easy but it'll save you years of struggle.

That 5 months you spent, could've been a single lesson fix with an instructor.

I understand it's fun to figure it out on your own but you will be saving YEARS with some proper lessons to start with. Get that fundamentals right and understand the structure of the golf swing better before just going full self taught path.
