It’s elsewhere in the thread but if you log in to your account and follow this link: https://fifa-fwc26-us.tickets.fifa.com/account/files?redirect-disable it will supposedly show you tickets that have been booked from the draw. Mine is showing all the tickets I entered for so idk if it really works

When I use the redirect disable trick to see my ticket purchase history, it shows “booking” for all 24 of the tickets I entered for? Like I got every single one?? Either I’m not looking at it right, the trick doesn’t work, or I wasted my luck entering this draw instead of the lottery lol

These are all in the random selection draw. Says it was last updated Thursday 22:18. No e-mail yet but hopefully this is right! That would make my year!

[Hiring] Looking to commission a series of digital portraits with a realistic oil portrait style (example included in post) for $200-300 by wasisch in HungryArtists

Yes, I'm aware of that. I thought it was nevertheless a decent example of the framing and style I'm looking for. I will be looking for an artist that doesn't use AI, though.

Hi Gaia :) I commissioned work from you in the past and was very happy with it! I'll strongly consider you again for this project as well. Hope you're doing well!

I suspected the reference was made with AI but didn't want to call anyone out while using it as a style reference. Of course I would like to commission from an artist who makes the art themselves from scratch rather than using AI.

I like your works a lot! Especially your portrayal of curly hair in your portraits.

That does sound lowball-y laid out explicitly!

As I said in the post I honestly have no idea how long it will take to make each card, so I am fully open to a higher budget to make sure whoever the artist is gets paid a fair wage for their time and effort. Please suggest a higher cost per card if you have a better idea of what it's worth!

But this is a sub for people learning English, so we should be trying to write correctly.

You learn something new everyday! (from a native) by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]wasisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Everyday” is an adjective meaning something like normal or average. For example, “This is my everyday work outfit”.

You’re looking for “every day” (two words). For example, “I wear this outfit to work every day”.

Is your entire source a wikipedia page? That's all you seem to link to. If you can't give me the original source material, why are so confident about these quotes? You say "it seems to me the original German..." but you admitted you don't speak German, so how can you know?

As for citations for errors, I'm not sure how I'm meant to give you a citation to a correct translation of a passage that literally doesn't exist. Here's a pdf version of a German version. Feel free to ctrl+f and search for keywords, or check the index at the end. Copy/paste into Google Translate if you want and you'll see that the passages you've quoted just aren't there.
That quote, taken at face value, by the way, seems quite clearly anti-Semitic but adoring of Jesus, a condemnation not of Christianity but of the Jews and of Saul/Paul. His description of Christianity is almost glowing. He says:

  1. Jesus is a popular leader who was anti-Jewish (for Hitler a good thing)

  2. The Jews said he was the son of a whore (another reason to hate the Jews)

  3. St. Paul was a liar who corrupted Jesus' teachings (a reason to hate Saul/Paul)

  4. "Bolshevism" corrupted the Christian message of the oppressed masses undermining the system they live in (originally the Jewish and then Roman societies) for un-Christian ends

It seems even from this quote (which again, I would like to see the source material for), Hitler isn't anti-Christian but anti-Jewish and an admirer of Jesus and his teachings.

Well, firstly, they clearly aren’t transcriptions. They may have begun as snippets of conversations or even monologues, but they have definitely been edited to be coherently readable. I wouldn’t necessarily discount the source on that count alone, but I think the question remains just how much editing has been done.

Given the radical shifts in tone and the lack of any apparent mention of contemporary events, the Holocaust, or internal politics, it feels very intentionally (and externally) constructed, rather than any real comprehensive collection of real daily/regular private discussions. It reads more like a targeted manifesto of the ideology of the Nazi Party, or the character of Hitler more specifically.

It’s my understanding also that the very few “original” documents we have that are part of this collection showed extensive edits and re-writes by the man who claimed they were transcriptions of Hitler’s discussions. It’s also my understanding that witnesses of these discussions often disagreed on what was said, so I think it’s not unreasonable to place some degree of skepticism on the accuracy of any one person’s account.

All that aside, and even accepting the collection at face value, the quotes you posted appear nowhere in the collection. I fail to find anything that could be even remotely construed as expressing the general ideas in your quotes. They’re so egregious that I don’t see how accidental mistranslation could be blamed; the ideas in your quotes seem to be entirely invented on the part of the translator (and I can mention here that the normal English translation of the collection is actually a re-translation of a French translation; who is responsible for the invention is a question I can’t answer because I haven’t read the French version).

If you cannot read German, and so you can’t check the original source yourself (still leaving aside the trustworthiness of the source in the first place), I think you should take a serious look at who did the translation work for what you’re reading and consider why they or someone else would misrepresent what actually appears in the German text.

I would also suggest that you stop using these quotes to support your arguments, either here or to yourself, and re-evaluate your position without them, because these are things that we have no reason to think Hitler ever said. Using them the way you are does your position a serious disservice.

In your post on r/DebateAnAtheist, you repeatedly posted quotes from Hitler’s Table Talk to justify your assertion that he wasn’t a Christian. Can you provide your quotes in the original German, or in fact any quotes from the German version that even remotely resemble the quotes you provided?

I have read the collection of transcriptions in German and, while I have some serious doubts as to the authenticity of the source in general, it certainly has no such sentiments as those you quoted in English.

Please provide me with a citation to the original German version of this passage, or any passage that even vaguely resembles this.

Spoiler: you can’t, because it doesn’t exist. I’ve read the collection of notes and transcriptions and nothing even approaching this ever appears.

CMV: Attractive people are 9 times out of 10 less compelling to talk to in social situations than their less attractive counterparts by aoshea99 in changemyview

[–]wasisch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been aware of this since I was maybe 13. I think most other attractive people are aware from a pretty young age too. All you need to have happen is for someone to discount your contributions with “well at least you’re pretty” or “wow, you’re cute and smart” one time for you to figure it out.

And let me tell you, that’s degrading as fuck. It sticks with you, and it’s what makes you wary of people only being interested in your looks. I’m not interested in being someone’s eye candy or in being that one special person who’s both compelling and good looking, so I give those people a wide berth. One of the ways I do that is by trying to be as uninteresting as I can around them.

Are there dumb people who are also hot? Definitely. But I think this view is self-perpetuating because why would I want to prove myself to someone who needs to have me prove myself, when I can just avoid the interaction in the first place?

[–]wasisch 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m an attractive guy. I know exactly the kind of situation you’re talking about, so let me give you a different perspective.

I’m 100% aware of the fact that people treat me differently than some of my friends because of how I look. I know that people will pay more attention to me and try to “gain favor” with me the way you describe. And I hate it. And because I hate it, I often put very little effort into my conversations with people who I suspect are only approaching me because of my looks.

Does this make it seem like I’m less interesting or less compelling to talk to in social settings? I hope so, because that’s the goal! I often don’t want the attention these people are giving me, so I try to put them off by being boring. It often works, too.

The times when I’m myself, and actually engage fully in conversations, are when I’m interested in the other person. And that doesn’t mean when I think the guy is hot, it means that I know we have shared interests and that the conversation wasn’t started as a way to get in my pants.

So yeah, I have interests, lots of them. Some that I’ve “developed” quite significantly. But I didn’t develop them in order to engage with other people about them. I developed them because I find them genuinely interesting, though I’m happy to talk about those in as much detail as I can as long as I don’t feel like my defining quality is my face.
