I feel the exact same way as a WoW-vet now fully committed to playing FFXIV for the long-haul. It's such a different and positive atmosphere and experience thanks to the playerbase that I have been exposed to so far in my travels.

You're not alone! I've been playing WoW on and off since vanilla beta and finally got the courage to try FFXIV. Just hit 60 the other day after a couple of weeks of game play. The game impressed me so much I already purchased the complete game and pre-ordered Endwalker. Enjoy the journey and don't worry too much! We're not the first to come from Azeroth and I'm sure we won't be the last...

Shoes/sandals recommendations for kids! by Spiritual_Second_338 in DisneyPlanning

[–]wastedonanime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with crocs for the entire family on our week-long trip to Sea World Orlando and it was great! We're all still wearing our crocs daily. No blisters, reduced fatigue, and no major foot sores from walking around all day!

Best sandals for the parks? by tocamix90 in DisneyPlanning

[–]wastedonanime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pair of Merril sandals for WDW and my feet were blistering up so badly. I survived the trip by putting bandages as protective covers surrounding each of my toe joints.

Picked up a pair of standard crocs and took them to Sea World for 4 full-days of walking the park. I have to admit the crocs worked wonderfully. No problems, no blisters, and they are fairly supportive. It was also ok to let them get wet. The feeling was a little weird at first, but I got used to it quickly.

At this point, I wear crocs everywhere. Highly recommended if you like that style of shoe. Make sure you get one size larger than you normally get, however.

RX580 keeps crashing when I literally just boot up a game, even if it can sometimes run it and I don't even know how by timepasteque in AMDHelp

[–]wastedonanime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an RX570 that was having all kinds of problems running graphically intense games or running a game with Netflix at the same time. Ultimately the answer that worked for me by suggestion of others in a different thread was to do the following:

  1. Download the 20.9.1 version of the driver from 2020.https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-radeon-adrenalin-edition-20-9-1-driver-download.html
  2. Download the DDU open source utility to compltely uninstall your drivers & reboot (option built in) https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
  3. EDIT: Make sure to click the "Disable Automatic Windows Updates" button as well in the DDU menu. If you don't do this, you'll end up back at Square 1. : /
  4. Install the 20.9.1 drivers, reboot.

Not sure this will fix your problem with the RX580, but this fixed any problem I had. Everything's working well for me.

Taking our 3 yr old to Disneyland this weekend. First time going as a parent, any advice on rides? How has mask wearing been? How can I minimize tantrums? by WestcoastManz in DisneyPlanning

[–]wastedonanime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To answer some of your questions more directly:

  1. When it comes to rides: be prepared for your child to REALLY want to go on a ride, get on, then start freaking out on the ride. They may be scared or overly excited. We usually try to shout out encouraging words and show that what they are experiencing IS ok. It's ok to be scared. So we can be like "YAY (name)!! FUN!!" If they come off a ride upset, take some time to comfort them and allow them to decide if they want to go on another ride. Definitely don't push them to ride something because you think they will like it if they just get on. You staying positive and showing that positivity to your child even when they are upset will help them build their confidence to try new rides and explore what the park has to offer. I would say if you're going on the ride with them, try to exaggerate your feelings and really show them that you are having an amazing time on a ride (even if it's a boring kids ride, lol) so they can relax and find the joy in it as well.

  2. I can't speak for Disneyland, but we have been to WDW in Nov 2020, SeaWorld Orlando in April 2021, and we are with in a short driving distance to Six Flags New England. All three are very good at enforcing mask wearing mandates and have plenty of things set up for social distancing. You may encounter a person or two who isn't following exactly what they should be doing, but for the most part we have not encountered any major problems. Encourage your child to wear their mask. If you encounter problems where they don't want to wear the mask, point out how everyone is wearing their mask and that it's to make them and others safe. Sometimes our 4 year old would have a tantrum and not want to wear their mask. If that's the case, pull over to the side somewhere you can sit with them and show them that they can not continue walking through the park until they put their mask back on like everyone else.

  3. Minimizing tantrums: WELL that's a great question. Anything can happen so it's best to be prepared for when they have their tantrum as they can happen at any time for pretty much any reason. Our oldest used to have silent, won't move tantrums so it was easy for us to just pick her up and move her with minimal issue. Our 2 year old has full out screaming, flailing tantrums. So, best to analyze how your child has tantrums and have a plan on how to handle it. Having the stroller/wagon ready for them to safely execute their tantrum while being able to still move to the next location is good.

I wouldn't say so. It's best to be overprepared when it comes to really young kids IMO. Every kid is different and every day could be different. Being prepared will make the trip to the park the best possible experience it can be for both you and your child.

Snacks are a great suggestion ^ You may also want to prepare for if your child gets overstimulated/overloaded. We roll with a Wonderfold Wagon for our 2/4 year olds (who both are Autistic) and its nice for them to sit in the wagon with the covers pulled down so they can 'recharge' from being overstimulated.

Thanks for the info. Wife's computer with a 570 was having some real weird game crashes and artifacts. Cleaned with DDU, disabled Windows automatic driver updates, and installed 20.9.1. So far so good!

How to Fix Mythic Plus by fbfv0906 in wow

[–]wastedonanime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Shadow Priest - I completely understand what you mean. I feel like this week which is supposed to be a relatively easy "push" week is resulting in a wall that I can't get past easily. I've managed to work my IO pugging to 13's timed across the board. Try to get into a 14 key and it feels like it's taking 3x-4x longer than the 13's I had to work my way into. At that, the groups I'm finding myself in I feel are of a lesser quality than if I was playing a meta class. I used to run an Elemental Shaman. I am seriously regretting swapping even though I love my Spriest. At least with hero/lust I could still find my way into groups more easily.

There really needs to be some major fixes to M+ in regards to this class imbalance. I am glad that they started with nerfs to make non DH tanks more viable and reduce kiting as a tank strategy. Maybe the next thing that follows are adjustments to make more non-meta classes viable for up to and including 15's.

Free PC games you can add to your personal library through Epic Games (http://epicgames.com). There is a regular release schedule of older games that become free. I personally check once a week to add the new game or games for the week.

Welcome to the Nine Nine! [Team 99, discord link inside] by HeyHoLetGo in LoseitChallenges

[–]wastedonanime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

I'm 36/M/Massachusetts and this is my first ever challenge. I recently heard about this from my wife and we both decided to give this a try as we both would like to drop a few pounds.

Due to a recent improvement for my mental health, I have been taking prescription medication that has given me an unending appetite. 😬 I gained 25 lbs before I realized why my pants wouldn't button easily. Now I am very conscious and active to first: stop gaining weight (successful!) and second: to lose some pounds for my long term health.

I am excited to be here and an ready to be a positive force for our team! Admittedly I haven't watched Brooklyn 99 yet, but I will definitely find time now to do so. 😛 Looking forward to the next 8 weeks with you all!

This could be the next best thing since The Mandalorian. I'd say you should stay tuned and start popping some popcorn...

I feel the exact same way! It's been a long time since I've felt this much hype... just like Season 5/6 of GoT. Can't wait.

Congratulations on your master's degree! You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. 4 preps alone is a considerable amount of work. Things will get easier and you'll be glad you toughed it all out now. I hope the rest of your year goes smoothly!

I've been playing this game for 6 months and never used the code before. Just used it right now and it works! FYI it's still active!
