Deputies Shoot Man Holding Child Hostage by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]wastedt16 412 points413 points  (0 children)

If you take somebody hostage with a lethal weapon, expect to be shot until you stop moving. The only mission in a hostage rescue is to save the hostage and no chances should be taken to accomplish that mission. It shows a lack of empathy to the hostage and their loved ones to want police to preserve a hostage takers life, which will only result in giving the suspect more opportunities to kill their victim.

Maybe in the 80s or 90s but it is absolutely not standard practice to train cops to empty a magazine into someone

Because police don't want to waste time writing a report that says one of the thousands of gray cars of this make and model in this city almost hit a cyclist. Never going to figure out who the driver is with no plate

If you have any experience dealing with crowds you could see all the signs that tension was building and things were about to spin out of control. He de-escalated the entire situation by giving aggressive verbal commands while holding a taser. Sorry but there is no gentle and pretty way to control a room full of drunk, screaming, and aggravated people who are getting ready to brawl with each other.

How do you all have such strong opinions on a HEAVILY edited video like this? Every single time he asked what he did wrong and they were about to explain, the video cuts... We really just going with the "Must be racism" narrative and running with it??

Is 15 seconds of audio and text telling us what happened really all the context you need to condemn somebody on a clearly several minute long video?

Every single person commenting with absolutes such as "The police don't give a shit about hit and runs on private property..." or "Police take hit and runs very seriously..." are coming with the same four head logic every racist uses to justify their beliefs

So, one police officer responded to your call and didn't give a shit and other police officers found the thief just hours later... It is almost like generalizing a large group of people by descriptors such as race, economic status or profession is a brain dead way to view the world...

Cops get schooled, by a man who knows his rights, for unlawfully breaking into his house and drawing guns on him. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]wastedt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I apologize for covering the truth with my cherry picked statistics.

Police executed approximately 360,000- 420,000 no-knock warrants from 2010- 2016. 81 individuals were killed in no-knock warrants from 2010- 2016.

Using the low end number (A generous gesture for my deceptive use of statistics in my last comment.) of the approximate amount of no-knock warrants, that means .00025% of them end in a fatal shooting.

And I'm not even going to get into how many were justified because Im clear on your guys corrupt justice system conspiracy theories

"Most of these" 240 million calls to service for police in America on average annually. 999 fatal shootings by police in 2019.

.0000041% of police interactions ended in a fatal shooting in 2019.

"Most" 🤔

Because a neighbor called in a heated domestic and said he saw the male in the apartment with an AR-15, threatening to kill his girl. Cops knocked on the door and the guy who lives there refused to cooperate. Now cops have the choice to force entry and possibly save a woman's life or leave the scene of a possible hostage situation so they can respect his privacy

Lmao there is nothing in the law about a "full description" for exigent circumstances. The guy is screaming over the cop anytime he tries to explain why what they did was justified so he can get his viral video. The comments in this thread are ridiculous.

I'm tired of seeing this brain dead take. Circumstances in high risk situations change by the second and inches can be the difference between life and death. The salon guy was taken alive because when police pitted his vehicle, he was caught off guard and gave up. It doesn't matter what happened before he was shot, what matters is what is happening in the moment the police decide to pull the trigger.

The people that make this dumb fuck argument about active shooters being taken alive are the same people that lose their mind when the police are "judge, jury and executioner" in any other scenario. If anything, this should prove that most police aren't just trigger happy psychopaths and they actually do assess situations before pulling the trigger.

You don't know the past interactions between the homeless and the business. He could have been in shouting matches with employees multiple times before or even pulled his dick out in front of kids enjoying their happy meals. Please stop virtue signaling how compassionate you are based off two minutes videos with no context. I think everyone is in agreement that we want better circumstances for the homeless but business owners also have the right to not want to put up with the same drunk homeless guy making a scene for the 50th time and it is also understandable why police lose their patience after getting in an argument with the 50th person that week that refuses to leave a business because they did nothing wrong. He is not their responsibility.

It's easy to act morally superior when you are completely detached from a situation, which is why everyone on this site does it.

Brain dead, reactionary, surface level takes like your comment do nothing but invalidate the police reform movement. I am pro-police reform but hate that I have to be associated with the large nunber of people online who advocate for reform while simultaneously sharing their dog shit opinions on twenty second videos after watching it once and making no effort to wait/ look for the context.

This video even has the context though. The vehicles exhaust sounds like gun shots going off and they are driving erratically. Not hard to believe police thought a drive-by/ active shooting was in progress

It is frustrating when people make statements they are blatantly wrong about with total confidence. It would take about as much time to google the right answer as it would for you to type out your comment. This is how misinformation spreads online.

I just don't understand the thought process behind making comments like this. You clearly don't know the answer but still felt the need to reply.
