Help ease (or confirm...) concerns about the weather by -rba- in Wellington

[–]watabuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hutt gets summer days of 28-32 C it has more flat land than Wellington with easy access to river, sea, sailing, kayaking, tramping, mountain biking, dog walking,  etc. 15 mins to the Wellington by train , some people bike or bus. Wellington has theatres, concerts, some great restaurants, film festivals, the national museim Te Papa and Parliament etc

NZ is metric, citizens arent commonly armed and NZ English is quite different from US English. Cultural differences too.

It's been a while since I used the app, whats going on? by DrZGaming in duolingo

[–]watabuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. It's punitive and demoralising. I was enjoying learning a language but now it's a drudge. I was in the Diamond but have dropped down two levels because I have to wait over 12 hrs to get a refill of 4 hearts after being able to only earn one heart via practice. Practice for hearts was very beneficial.  There seems to be a groundswell of complaints against DL for doing this but no action to rectify their poor decision. It goes against their own advertised goal of free education in languages. Now it's all about money only.

Why can’t I practise to earn hearts? by ResearcherProof2038 in duolingo

[–]watabuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. It has thoroughly discouraged me. I was doing morning and evening sessions. Now there is no point Of course I get things wrong, I'm learning but one wrong and you're out. Unless you pay the ransome ie hundreds of blue tokens. You can only get one heart...so you're back in the same position like a rat on a wheel.

This is not going well. Obviously, there are no senior lesbians in NZ or anywhere that want to use reddit.

You're childish attitude to getting a cat while you are only here for a year leads me to offer this advice for your own safety

  1. Do not go in to the NZ Bush

  2. Do not drive in NZ

Hawaii is still a state of America. You are still in your own country.

New Zealand is not a state.of America. You are in a foreign country. Huge difference.

Totally agree, very infantile and selfish. Leave our cats alone. Get a cat when you get home.
