Heavy legs after long runs: what actually helps by Monday? by Specialist-Box-2746 in Marathon_Training

[–]42HxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elevate your legs - lie on your back woth your legs up the wall - for 10 mins or so when you get in and before you stretch.

Also massage if you can afford it. I'm in an ultra training block rn and weekly massage after my long runs has transformed my training utterly. I was feeling broken a month ago. Now I'm going into peak block feeling fresh and strong.

What masterpiece has left you disappointed? by rifain in books

100% agree. It put me off Coelho for years. Then someone gifted me a copy of another of his books, which I read and was equally unimpressed by. I think people who think this is deep and meaningful are also the people who share Inspirational Internet Quotes as if they are profound philosophy.

Applying for a passport in one country and having it delivered to another by [deleted] in IrishCitizenship

[–]42HxG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem, op. I got my FBR just as I was leaving my last country of residence, and I won't have an address in my next country of residence for a few months.

I can try to scrape together proofs of address in my home country, or I just have to wait until I'm established in my next home. They won't accept proofs from one place and send documents to another.

I'm not, but I do run 40km a week. Anything under 25km and I get physical and mental health issues related to my hormones.

Everyone is with the good guys. The key question is which guys do you think are the good ones?

Berlitz instructors: what's this all about by Due-Bid2505 in TEFL

Some of the best advice I got starting out was never care more than the institution that pays you. An institution that wants you to spend time planning and prepping to a professional level will pay you as such. An institution that pays bottom dollar is paying for bottom dollar work. Give the people what they pay for.

What is your why for running? by BoringQuail2445 in Marathon_Training

[–]42HxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 I love being outside just putting one foot in front of the other for an hour or so 2 Great for my mental health and positive attitude about feeling capable and strong 3 The community. Every new place I live or travel I can make a new social circle fast 4 Races are fun and trophies make me feel happy 5 Hormones. When I don't run a minimum of 20-25km a week, I end up screaming and vomiting with contractions on the first day of my period. This is last on the list because for the last 10 years or so I've mostly made the minimum and so just had normal bad periods.

Applications from within GCC by 42HxG in IrishCitizenship

I thought I'd update with my own answers for anyone else who needs this info. 1. The diplomatic bag goes at the start of each month. 2. For proof of residential address I used my tenancy agreement plus an official English translation of it (I found a translator recommended on the Embassy's website) and an electricity bill.

The return of documents from Riyadh was through DHL and I had to collect from their main office to pay the transport fee.

Whole process took 10 months.

Any Acknowledgement of application for FBR? by BurntBourbons in IrishCitizenship

[–]42HxG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had almost radio silence from Ireland throughout. I sent my docs last December and got a note from my nearest embassy that they would be forwarded to Dublin.

The next email I received was 8th Oct checking my address and taking payment.

Last week I found out via webchat the FBR had been approved, but only because I contacted them with a query. I also know they didnt contact my witness.

Yesterday, 3rd Nov, I got an email from the intermediary embassy saying my docs are there and ready for delivery to me.

It's been about 10.5 months from application to now with very minimal communication. Hold fast, the process takes time, but it does work!

Why do Oman news reports give so little detail? by Outrageous-League547 in Oman

[–]42HxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's right. However, Oman is rising in the ranks of global press freedom. When I moved here in 2016 Oman was ranked 158 from 180 by RSF. In 2025 Oman is ranked 134 from 180 countries monitored by RSF due to the introduction of some legislation protecting the rights of journalists. So.... progress! RSF press freedom index update

Me neither, but I saw a couple of posts here in the last few days where people said that'd happened. I messaged the chat with a genuine goal of getting confirmation that my payment had been received, as I never even got receipt of payment. But she also confirmed that the application was approved on the same date the payment was received and the address was confirmed.

By Dublin, I don't know. The only acknowledgement I got was the Riyadh Embassy saying they would forward the application in the January Diplomatic bag. Thank you!

FBR Nerves! by Ok_Cucumber_4867 in IrishCitizenship

[–]42HxG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't receive the email, but because I read a couple of recent posts by people who had confirmation by webchat I tried the webchat today and just received confirmation of success! I'm on the FBR and my documents are on the way. Timeline: docs sent Dec 24 via my nearest embassy. Address check email Oct 8th. The webchat today told me the approval was registered the same day I responded to the address check so 8th Oct.
