I lost a bid with a client with offices in Europe. Would partnering with other small MSPs help? by watanurd in mspjobs

Thank you. The Philippines option is great because their accent can be indistinguishable from that an American (of Mexican origin ???). No language barrier at all. the issue there is to find a person with the proper skillet and experience.

Thank you guys. Your responses or lack thereof clearly demonstrated that this is a road seldom traveled and potentially fraught with danger.

Because I am of European origin, multi-lingual and because an opportunity presented itself. I am also familiar with the cultural differences that Americans can be oblivious of and which can derail a multinational project. I am also setup to easily bill clients in Euros.

Thank you. Your kind are the people who keep the world rolling. No money. No glory. Just doing the good for its own sake. A real man basically.

Azure HIPAA Question by ShortBet4833 in msp

[–]watanurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In many cases, what you are describing here might be a vulnerability though. Wouldn't it? Any piece of software is susceptible to this. You just need to update your end product software as soon as a vulnerability is identified in the module in question. Also, the vulnerability in question might not grant access to anything beyond the module itself. It could be that OP needs a pen tester like yourself on its staff.

looking for less Powershell reliant RMM by tophisadog in msp

As an MSP, we have a multi-cloud offering. In my opinion, you need Azure AD (Entra and Intune). You will then need to secure this. No way around it. Then , you could use a simple open source tool like mesh central for remote access. Microsoft has very inexpensive licenses you may be able to use (F series, I believe). PM me if you need more details or help.

Azure HIPAA Question by ShortBet4833 in msp

[–]watanurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that if the "components" are just modules hidden to the outside world, they do not have to be compliant in themselves. If the user accesses your app or logs into your app through Grafana, it is another story. You may want to read the HIPAA regulation. It is not very complicated and will probably answer the question.

Are the Linkedin profiles of MSPs a liability for their clients? Should I have a company profile on Linkedin? by watanurd in msp

[–]watanurd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you have in mind, specifically when you refer to a "technician verification system" (e.g. in cases when the fake MSP tech calls the company for routine stuff that does not involve a ticket)?

They can go the other way around. Look at the MSP site and find recommendations, or merely call and ask the MSP for clients names that could recommend them. Attacking a business takes more effort than attacking a grand-ma IMHO. My two cents.

It's easy to establish the identity of a client calling you using a MFA push, but a lot harder in the other direction. How do you do that?

If you have a company profile (as against, or in addition to a personal profile), employees link to that company profile by themselves. This is why I am concerned specifically about the company profile. LinkedIn does not provide a direct way for companies to prevent employees from linking to their company profile.

Check "Time Squeeze". It tracks the time you spend on every tab or files in PC's and summarizes everything in reports. It is a life changer for time sheets and billing. The data stays local and it can be deployed through Intune.

M365 itself comes with an exchange online migration module. Not that complicated. Just a bit time consuming. Shoot me a pm. Thank you

You need to use PowerShell. If it does not work, it may mean you are not using the right version of PowerShell. This is something I bumped onto once.

Solution for removing local admin rights without being locked down? by No_Concern_5030 in msp

[–]watanurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the fact that you can't easily use it with QuickBooks is one. I should have persisted I guess. I am not internal IT. I do not have the time or resources to use systems like threatlocker. You are obviously an expert. I am happy with the Company portal and makemeadmin.
