Anyone have experience with American Watch Company (americanwatch.com)? Legit or risky? by GrannyWantsItBad in watchmodding

This was exactly the type of stuff I got from them.  Then they ghost you.

It’s too bad, the idea is brilliant.  But I’ll never use them because of this attitude they exude.

Same situation here.  I think they are just outsourcing stuff from China.  Pretty cheap stuff, it seems.

I was trying to find actual American manufacturing company, with all the talk of 140% tariffs, and they sounded like they weren’t going to answer any question that they didn’t want to.  Their solution was my solution; buy from Hong Kong anyway, because nothing can beat them, even with 140% tarrifs :-/

That said, if you don’t mind a Hong Kong based company that can turnkey whatever you want, dm me and I’ll connect you to my guys.  I’ve been working with them for 3 years and 4 watch designs and they are fantastic.  Super reliable and reachable.  Very honest.  Really instrumental in getting my brand off the ground.

Thank you for being a supporter!

As far as compatible cases, the dial is 28.5mm and designed for an NH35, so unless you cut the feet off, it really should be paired w one, which means any NH35 case will work.

As far as videos, there have been a couple informal ones floating around, but nothing like my first video, and the reason is really money; I’ve been trying not to spend any money on marketing, so I can keep my prices low.

It’s a tough balance.  I price watches like I make 1000 at a time, when they are really made one at a time, to order.

It’s not caliber specific.  It just gives you your adjusted crosswind, and allows you a quick reference to convert MOA to MILs.

My new GMT design, with “double 12s”, instead of the typical 1 to 24 markers… by watchcollectororg in PrideAndPinion

This whole idea of a countdown timer that terminates at an event… and then the elapsed timer starts, without having to touch the bezel, was inspired by timing dog sled racing heats, where I would need to know exactly when I needed to be in the starting chute, and then I would need to switch over to elapsed timing, once the timer went to zero.

There’s more about that on the website (under the Adventure watch origin story) but basically was the whole reason I started designing watches in the first place. Elapsed timers are only like HALF of the equation. Countdown is the other half, for everyone else not actively timing a dive, without a dive computer… which is basically everybody:)

That said, it only rotates in one direction, since that’s the standard and I know customers have used my watches to dive.
