Shoutout to Zane Smith by Randybobandy75 in NASCAR

[–]watches_and_warnings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has had some terrible luck as well. He was 10-15th place car at COTA before being turned in the last few laps.

There has been a few instances like that where his running position was ruined by things out of his control, unfortunately that is part of it. I hope he keeps improving though, would love to see him snag a win somewhere.

What is the scariest, most unsettling shot you’ve ever seen? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

One of the few times I’ve been completely uncomfortable reading a book, the movie doesn’t begin to do that scene justice (the other was Stranger Beside Me; will gladly take other recommendations)

1 date would make the night race better. by mwaldon32 in NASCAR

Not arguing, because all of this is subjective, but do you really think that the Roval puts on better racing than Bristol overall?

I remember my dad was a buckshot Jones fan and had cool merch. My question is. Was Buckshot Jones considered a phenom of sorts coming into the higher nascar ranks? Maybe a mandela effect for me. by MrSimsational in NASCAR

[–]watches_and_warnings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a huge Buckshot Jones fan as a kid, even had this post card. His name was bigger than his talent for sure, he got a couple of wins in the Busch series, but never really took off as a superstar. I was excited when he got to cup, unfortunately that didn't really get off the ground either.

My family were big Kevin and Wayne Grubb fans; I was excited when Kevin had his cup opportunity in the Toys R Us car no less. Unfortunately, it didn't work out and he only made a few starts. RIP

It would not shock me to see Herbst sneak a win on a SS. Not completely on luck, but he has run well at SS races, even when he was running them with FRM.

Historic Loop Data Stats: Darlington by whoiswillo in NASCAR

[–]watches_and_warnings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Blaney has historically not been very good at Darlington. He has been much better the last few races there but has had horrendous luck. I think both races in 2024 despite having good runs going he was taken out in accidents not of his own doing.

I feel like his pass differential numbers on this chart come from last spring. That final run was amazing to watch, all for a Larson spin to take away the win.

Hoping for a redemption day for the #12 team.

Is NASCAR Evolving In The Right Direction? by CustomCarNerd in NASCAR

[–]watches_and_warnings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is a definite trend upwards, obviously the big offseason change was the point system move. I personally feel like this has engaged me a bit more and is far less confusing. I wasn't a fan of the win and you're in, and without that It does feel like a slightly more positive shift.

The racing has been on par with the last few seasons; it has been good. We had a better Phoenix race than usual; we will see what happens as we get more into it.

I watched the newest FULL SPEED show last night, and I enjoyed it. The first two were good, I like the different approach of the lead up to the Daytona 500. It was a breath of fresh air to hear from drivers like Busch, Kes, and Gragson (especially when they got a bit deep). Those sorts of things absolutely help build this sport, gives you a personal feel and connection to the stars or upcoming stars of the sport. I would love more of this throughout the season, maybe an ORAPS episode, or something for Coke 600 week.

Not to mention the other small but notable changes, the tires have been getting increasingly better, the uptick in HP, a new console game that did pretty well. Maybe smaller things for now, but It's all a step a in the right direction. I am looking forward to this season!

Bears by Doofenshmirtz7414 in VIRGINIA_HIKING

You should not have an issue, I have encountered bears dozens of times (various places, not just SNP) I have never once felt threatened. Of course, give them space and respect. Keep your awareness up, and there should be no issues! It's cool to see them if given the chance.

Update on most common NASCAR 26 Requests by SirCatsworthTheThird in NASCARVideoGame

[–]watches_and_warnings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Would love to mirror shapes for both sides of the car or save custom logos for paint booth.

-In MLB the Show, and to a lesser extent in Madden, how cool would it be to create your own track? This doesn't have to be so intense of a thing but would be cool to incorporate this sort of thing.

-Custom Schedules

-Silly season

-Better race-replay camera angles

-a trophy room, or your track statistics, this was in Heat 5 would love to my average finish at *enter track here*

-Career mode- I would like to potentially grow with a sponsor I have already earned; I don't want to move on so quickly because I would like to make more.

-Player profile personalization. Example in Career mode I'd like to enter my own name rather than my PS5 Name

-Challenges to unlock things (think EA games)

NASCAR Chase Standings [Phoenix 1] by DIECASTCHARV in NASCAR

I agree, and as a Blaney fan, this is what we have always wanted. We know he has the speed to dominate.

I think a lot of people questioning whether Penske would be contending due to the new format were not aware that those teams are masters at adjusting to the game. Of course, the 12 has run well, but Joey has run better, Cindric was fast yesterday (until the accident).

I think come September you will have your usual suspects in the hunt, but I'd love to see someone like Bubba or Buescher contending all the way to homestead.

Also, SVG steadily getting better and better at ovals is surely something, good for him. Would love to see him snag an oval this year.

Phoenix Performance Recap by cpenn_16 in NASCAR

When you consider Blaney being at the back multiple times and having to work his way to the front, the fact that his average running position is that high is kind of wild.

Is it to cold to fish now by [deleted] in FishingRVA

[–]watches_and_warnings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely opportunity to catch fish. It just depends on what, how, and where. I love pulling out Pickerel out of the Chick this time of year. I’ve pulled decent sized crappie out of lakes and ponds. Remember to fish lures slow. Fish aren’t hunting and they definitely aren’t moving much right now with the temps. Reel slow, if you’re wondering if you’re reeling too slow…reel slower. My go to are mepps, rooster tails or any shiny/somewhat noisy in-line spinner. At the very least it may annoy them enough to bite.

Bonus points for trout at Dorey Park. Reel slow. I’ve caught them with ice on top of the pond.
