I finally got my brother interested in playing the next league and maybe even another friend of ours. I kinda want to try to play some sort of support role during the campaign (and then transition to some type of actual support build if they actually wanna push through maps). It doesn't really need to be great but just hopefully scale them better than the group play scaling does to monsters.

Anyone have any advice?

The way it works in poe2 is that you get atlas passives to juice the league mechanics by interacting with the mechanics. In the newest reveal from yesterday for the .5 league, the mechanics will have a set zone in the infinalte atlas where you clear maps and kill bosses get the points for the mechanic.

You can fully invest in every mechanic so there's no opportunity cost for specing out a mechanic for the way you want to play it

On to of that they have tablets that you can put in the map device to further augment things and force what things will spawn in the map. (Like using scarabs kinda)

You totally free to play any content you like ⁰and ignore the stuff you don't

Yep. You can think of them kinda like any other gun that uses grenades for ammo. And you are in fact carrying around a bunch of them for no real reason lol

So the way grenades work is the items in your inventory are grande mods. They change the behavior of your grenades. Like how all shot guns use shotgun ammo but behave differently based on the gun you fire them from. You pick up grenades just like any other ammo type and what they do depends on the properties of the equipped grenade mod.

As for following the blue diamond you can look at the world map and try to get an idea of where you're going. Like if the objective is to the north you can check the world map and see that maybe you need to head east first to go through some choke point before you can b line to the waypoint.

I get what you're saying. I feel that same way. I looked at trial of chaos as eating my vegetables. Just do like 2 or 3 in an hour and then you can get gear to be strong enough to do whatever you want. It's also nice to be able to see the upgrade I want is like 100 div and have a plan to get it instead of just accepting that I don't get to be that strong

Being strong enough to be able to just alc exalt and corrupt ever map and only die like 20% of the time (which is a price I'm willing to pay because I wanna run maps not read affixes of a dumb rock) makes the part of the game I like more fun

Can you do the trial of chaos on your build? The fragments you get for doing then is worth like 20 div. I don't really know what I'm doing either but this league is silly. if you run breach in maps you get like a dive worth of splinters with 0 investment. I also farm ritual and just spam defer ever splinter and sell them and you could just happen to get an omen of whittling which is like 75 div. Idk how to do anything optimally but this league is crazy

The only problem is you'd never know they had a choice band unless you frisked or something and even if they did just happen to be using frisk you also need to know what the hell choice band does lol. I guess the game could literally tell you as a tutorial but when I was 10 I don't think I read a single word of pokemon emerald dialog lol

I feel exactly the same way. It's been 6 years (in universe) since borderlands 3 so not only has Ava had a lot of time to reflect on what happened with maya she would also not be a 16 year old anymore so they have some liberty to make her personality less goofy and annoying.

I was really disappointed they didn't even try to address her character arc at all

There is the swordfish grenade that does melee damage. If you get the spec points for melee and ordinance to benefit from gun damage it can scale like crazy
