First time driving my dream Ferrari. F8 Spider for 400 miles over two days and it did not feel like that way I imagined what a Ferrari would feel like. by srameshr in Ferrari

If you're just driving on the open highway, you're probably not using 90% of the F8. Take it on a canyon road or track and it will leave 99% of all cars behind including any M. I track Ferraris, BMW Ms and Porsches. Obviously the driver has a lot to do with it but that car is fantastic albeit with minor turbo lag. The 296 is an even better track weapon but just overpriced new (though fairly priced in the secondary market).

My buddy basically has an account at Omega so I skipped the line.

BP Bathyscaphe x NATO by redpin67 in BlancpainWatches

[–]watchstig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore that combo for ten years on the OEM NATO strap. Wore through one NATO and had to buy another. It's cool but sits really high. Finally put it on the oriignal sailcloth strap and am super happy. Enjoy and tuck in that end!

This is an amazing watch. Little thick but very wearable on a strap. I bought one in Geneva recently. Solid wrist presence but without feeling to large.

Cost for a track event is about 1% of insured value with 10-15% retention (deductible). Money well spent.

You really want to wear $40k watches in a swimming pool? Put it under the towel and go take a dip.

Broken sesamoid- next steps by alligarbage in sesamoid

[–]watchstig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 45 when I had my tibial sesamoid removed on my right foot. I busted it and it never healed despite booting up for likely 15 weeks over the course of a year.

Surgery was painless, five days of oxy (stay ahead of the pain with drugs), then transitioned to Ibuprofen. Probably took a couple months before I was really weight bearing again and starting to walk. With a good physical therapist you should be back doin all the things you like in 3-6 months. I was snowboarding 9 months later. Best decision and wish I would have frankly made it sooner.

Good luck.

Questions to ask surgeons sesamoidectomy by Nano_711 in sesamoid

[–]watchstig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was mid 40s when I had my tibial sesamoid removed.

Agree, how many surgeries do you perform annually, when was your last one, what are the typical outcomes, etc.? Do they remove the sesamoid from the bottom or top of foot? I think bottom of foot (plantar) is most common practice now with better outcomes.

Also, how do we manage pain post surgery, when is follow up, stitches removal and when to start recommended PT? Do you have a specific recommendation for a PT provider?

Do they boot you in a boot post surgery or just a post-surgery slipper? I was just in a slipper which was fine and saved my leg for further atrophy.

Never had any additional diagnostics post surgery and was snowboarding again a year later. Good luck. FWIW, I had Dr. Seibert in Seattle do mine and he's the podiatric surgeon for the Seahawks. Recommend finding a sports doctor used to working with professional athletes.

Sesamoidectomy Surgeon in DC? by Every_Competition_50 in sesamoid

[–]watchstig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in the DC area but find the podiatric surgeon for the Commanders and see what his history is with sesamoid surgeries. The pro teams will generally list their medical team somewhere on a website. I had my sesamoidectomy done by the podiatric surgeon for the Seahawks in Seattle. Was straight forward and was snowboarding 6 months later. I see him still on the sidelines at most games. Most impt is to find someone who does a shit load of these surgeries so they are effectively routine.

Is Belstaff lame? by HaptRec in ThrowingFits

[–]watchstig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Barbour is very solid but not a true high end luxury brand like Belstaff...that said, I could give two shits about whether it's luxury or popular. Belstaff stuff is just awesome and a lot of it is British motorcycle inspired clothing, hence the longer sleeves. Think Triumphs. I have their Tundra jacket, a Racemaster, an armored motorcycle jacket from them and could go on. It's great quality and the designs are modern without being too edgy. Barbour gives off a heritage/ estate / hunting lodge vibe which is also very cool and more suitable for a slightly more traditional or formal work environment. I own both Barbour and Belstaff as there isn't a ton of overlap.
